Edith arrived in a place where he could consider safe. He swam neared the riverside and transformed into his original form. His eyes scanned his surroundings.

Looks like it’s safe. He stood up and leaned against a tree. Edith opened his stat window and looked at the map.

The map had shrunk to a considerable amount of size. Not only that, but the number of participants had dwindled. At first, there was ninety-nine of them, and now it was seventy-eight. Edith was lucky to survive to this stage, but if the map kept on shrinking. Then, he would die the moment someone or Claire had eyes on him.

He looked up to the blue sky. It was sunny and calm, and the wind sounded pleasant to him. It was like he got struck by a spell or a charm. Edith let out a small breath, stood up and looked at the map. There was a small town not far from him.

He swiped the stat window down and proceeded to head over to the small town. A small bird landed on a branch, it had blue feathers and a lovable melody as it was chirping.

An idea struck him. Edith picked up a rock, closed his left eye, stretched his hand back and applied force on his arm before launching the rock at the bird. The bird did not pay attention and got hit by it. He gasped. It hit?

The bird fell, and Edith ran toward it. His hand moved between the thick bushed before spotting it. The bird had her feet fidgeting, trying to survive, and next to her was the rock. It had blood on it. Edith picked up the rock and looked the bird in the eyes.

Sorry birdie. He closed his eyes and bashed the bird with the rock. The bird began to glow, and the stat window rang. He opened his eyes and opened his stat window. The stat window showed him that he could transform into a bird.

The bird didn't drop any items. So, there will be some instances that they won't drop any items. Edith closed the stat window and took a deep breath.

“Change: Bird,” Edith muttered. A warmth, windy and pleasant sensation coursed through his body. His body glowed with pale white lights and began shrinking, his arms filled with feathers, his foot had claws on it, his mouth became a beak. The light disappeared, and he had transformed into a bird.

Edith flapped his wings and flew upwards. He hovered in the air and scanned his surroundings. Lush green trees, rivers calmly flowing, birds flying high and soured through the sky.

When Edith saw them, he was at ease. If only I can be this fr- no, I can be free like them, like the birds, I will sour the blue sky. For the first time in his life, the sky had become his goal. It became his freedom calling.

The reward that the being gave them was playing inside his mind, “The last man standing will be reborn as a baby in a rich and famous family, not only that they will be gift with talents. That person also allowed to pick how they will live in that new world.”

That is my second chance, there will be no more opportunities like this. I must take it, even if I’ve to kill people. A small town caught his attention and flew towards it. He had a few animals characteristic that came into his mind. Something with poison, fast, nimble and small.

His eyes caught a snake. It was moving towards a player. He didn’t realise there was a snake behind him. Then, the snake closed in and jumped towards him and bit his neck. The player cried in pain as he struggled to get rid of the snake, but moments later, he fell to the ground lifelessly.

The player’s body glowed, and it left out some items. Edith landed on the branch, and it shook. Wo-ow, that was close. I better be careful when landing.

He turned his attention to the hovering items that the player dropped. The items were two daggers, red and blue, and cooked beef.

Edith averted his attention to the snake as it tried to escape through the forest. He flew toward the items and stored them. Then, he flew above the snake, and a red dagger appeared on his legs.

He struggled to lift the dagger. Damn! This dagger is he-, wo-ow. He flapped his wings feverously.

If... only... I was... human... I could... have... lift... it.... He applied some force on his legs. Died!

He flung the dagger towards the snake. The dagger cut its head, and the snake died. The snake's body glowed, and it left out a slice of cooked meat. Edith collected the meat.

His stat window rang, and he opened it. Same as the fish and bird. He could now transform into a snake. Nice. Edith closed his stat window, flapped his wings, and headed to the town.
