《BR: Collection of Short Stories》Story 12: Isekai Battle Royale Chapter 5: Monkey vs Tiger

He arrived at the outskirt of the town. A monkey leaned against a tree, and Edith began inspecting the monkey. There were bite wounds all over its body, and some of them were deep. Blood had covered his orange fur.
What the hell happened to him?
A tiger’s roar echoed from the town along with human screams. Tigers. They must be the ones that caused its wounds.
“Ou… Ou…,” The monkey called him. Edith turned his head towards it.
The monkey waved its long arm at him. It was calling Edith to come closer.
“Do you want me to come closer?” Edith asked.
The monkey nodded and kept waving its arms.
“Wait? Y-you understand me?” He gasped.
The monkey nodded and rested its arm on its stomach. Edith flew towards it. The monkey gestured to the wounds on its chest.
“Wait! You want me to stab you?” Edith asked, and the monkey nodded. He asked again, “Are you sure?”
“Ou…,” The monkey spoke in a weak tone.
Edith lowered his head and sighed, “Okay.”
He flew above the monkey and pushed his claw in its wounds, and a dagger manifested. It stabbed the monkey's heart. The monkey let out a weak howl. Then, its body glowed and disappeared.
The stat window rang. Don't need to open, if it has notified me. The monkey didn't drop any items. Well, at least I can transform into it. Thank you for your sacrifice.
Edith flapped his wings and flew towards the source of the sound. He arrived at the location and landed on top of a house. A steak of tigers had cornered four players.
One of the tigers jumped at the person in the front. They struggled, but the player lost, and the tiger began consuming him. The others watched in fear.

“S-Stay back!” The person in the middle shouted with fear in his eyes.
A tiger jumped at him and bit his neck. The tiger mowed him as he cried for help.
The other two tried to climb the wall behind them. Wait! Don't do that!
Two tigers jumped on them and bit their legs. The players let out a scream as the tigers dragged them from the wall. All three players screamed as the tigers began devouring them. After that, their bodies glowed, and they dropped items.
The items were a book and several lumps of meat. The tiger turned their attention to Edith and walked towards him. Edith hurried to the items.
He stored the items and fled to a tree. Edith landed on a branch, “Status.”
The stat window popped out and inspected the content of the book. The hell! evolve player's current ability? Then, that means I can upgrade my skill.
The tigers roared at him. He closed the window. The tigers were circling the tree. One of them jumped at the tree but realised it couldn't climb. He let go of the tree and continued to circle the tree.
Now how do I get one of them? Will poison work? If so, then I need to be faster when transforming.
Edith aimed at the tiger who was behind the pack. He readied himself and propelled toward the tiger. His body glowed and transformed into a snake.
He bit the tiger's neck, pushed himself away from it and transformed into a bird and flew away. He hovered above the tiger.
The tiger was beginning to weaken, his legs failed him, and his body fell to the ground. He was breathing faster, and with one big breath, his body glowed, and he dropped a single item, and that was a slice of meat. The stat window rang and notified him.

“One down, three to go.” Edith scanned his surroundings. A large rock, and a fallen branch, caught his attention.
He flew towards the large rock and transformed himself into a monkey. I thought the rock was big, maybe it’s just a matter of perception.
Edith carried the rock. There were also several rocks laid there. He took them and climbed the tree.
The tigers rushed towards his tree. Edith aimed the rock at the tigers and threw it at them. The tigers dodged them with ease.
“Okay, new plan. The branch.”
He turned himself into a bird, flew towards the branch, and transformed himself into a monkey. The tigers raced towards him.
“Alright, come closer.”
One of them jumped at him. He swung the branch as hard as he could. The branch hit the tiger and pushed it to the ground.
One of its friends tried to jump on him. Edith dropped the branch, transformed into a bird, and dodged it.
He transformed into his human form, summoned two daggers and plunged the red dagger at the tiger’s head, killing it.
The tiger who got hit by the branch tried to attack him again. Another tiger tried to jump on him from behind.
He turned into a monkey, used his feet to carry the daggers and jumped on a tree above him. His hand grabbed the tree branch, and he dangled from it
Both tigers crashed into one another and became dizzy. He released his hands from the branch, flipped the dagger to the air, grabbed them and stabbed the dagger into their heads.
He removed the dagger from their heads. His stat window rang, but he didn’t open it. Edith let out a sigh of relief.
He turned around and saw that the barrier was coming in his direction.
There’s no need for me to be here. Edith turned himself into a bird, and before he could fly away, his eyes caught something that emerged from the ground, and it was a black mole rat.
Lucky me. He flew towards it and changed himself into a tiger. He bit the mole rat, and its body began glowing up. His stat window rang, and the mole rat disappeared from his mouth.
Alright, time to go. He changed into the bird and flew away.
Edith opened his stat window and slid to the left to look at the map. He headed towards the town that was near the church.
Players will go toward the church. He sighed and complained. Hopefully, that woman died. I don't want to see her again.

A Titan's Crusade
Erik Thayne spent most of his life being brutally ridiculed and tormented for his weight and physical appearance, among other things. A social pariah and diagnosed with an eating disorder no one has an explanation or treatment for, Erik spent years trying to overcome his issues with his personal image and escape the ridicule and vicious torment of his peers. After years of dedicated effort, and a fresh start in a town away from his childhood and adolescent tormentors, he had finally begun to truly realize what he'd been striving for all along. Only, fate apparently has other plans because in the blink of an eye, Erik found himself snatched from Earth and taken to another universe, another world, where he is offered the chance to be more than he'd ever imagined. Now, he has to fight to restore the Balance between Chaos and Order on a world of swords and magic, in a universe governed by the System's laws, which resemble those of RPGs from Earth. Erik learned to embrace the things about himself that others taught him to hate, using them to reforge his physical identity into something more removed from his old self-loathing. But can he learn to embrace the darkest parts of his mind just as he did the reviled aspects of his body and become who he needs to be to succeed in the task set before him? It might just prove easier to stalk in the dark as a monster than to walk in the light as a man... *This is my first time publishing anything I've written to a public audience. Due to formatting issues, I forwent traditional stat-screens for something a little less problematic, delineating stat screens by separating them from regular text with horizontal lines in a lighter-grey coloration. Let me know if you like them or not. Criticism is entirely welcome, but please don't hate on my work after only reading 1 chapter. This is a writing project I intend to complete but I have committment problems so we'll see how long this goes on. Also, fair warning, as the description implies, the main protagonist is intended to be someone who has been treated cruelly, developed antisocial tendencies, and ultimately has to question his own humanity--or lack thereof. This story is not intended to be brutally dark but I will definitely be trying to follow a darker theme. It is intended to be violent and some scenes later in the story might be...alarming. There will likely also be some light, non-graphic (think more implied with crude jokes and conversation than actual details, there will be no full-blown sex scenes)relationship scenes planned later and if you're opposed to either a bisexual or gay main character, stay away. I haven't yet decided which way he's going to swing but the odds on him being straight are relatively miniscule, and I've always wanted to write a story about a gay man who basically looks like a lumberjack because who doesn't like giving conventional stereo-types the middle finger? This will NOT be a harem story, and I have no intention to focus on romance over action--it's a consequence of character development where I'm concerned, not the be-all-end-all of the story. The cover-art does not, in any way, belong to me. It was an image titled the Druid King (by duskanmarkovic according to the file name) which I found on Google Images. Until I can get something commissioned, this is the best stand-in image I could find.
