《Svails: Chains of Nebulas》Chapter 5: Team Seiryoku

About nine hours after the incident in the market Siyo awakens inside the hunter base infirmary, slowing opening up her eyes she freaks out trying to figure out where she is. Once noticing that she has been transported to the infirmary she quickly calms down and lets out a big sigh. A few moments later Angel walks through the door holding a tray of food and nearly drops it from the shock of seeing Siyo awake.
"Siyo! You're awake, thank goodness! I'm so glad you're alright, what you did was so reckless!"
"A-Angel?! Hey! Lighten your grip a bit you're choking me!"
"Sorry! I got a bit to carried away, I'm just...So glad you're alright, really."
"Thanks Angel but I think I could use some alone time you know? Just some time to figure things out if you don't mind?"
"Yeah sure! No problem girl, just come talk to me later"
Angel leaves the room leaving Siyo with a bright smile and a wave goodbye. As soon as Siyo hears the sound of the door closing shut her expression changes as she starts to remember the events that took place in the market, raising her hand to her head she questions her inability to attack the Rogue members that stood before her. In a fit of frusteration she slams her fist onto the desk beside the bed she is laying in.
"Why was I so usless! I'm pathetic! So nothing changes then, I could never hurt another person. I'm sorry mom... I'm a horrible choice to live up to your achievements, and here I thought I could follow in your footsteps"
Siyo regains her composure and gets herself out of bed and begins to get dressed. When she reaches to grab her sword she hesitates for a quick second, grabbing her arm as if she is fearfull of her own blade. In that moment Siyo recalls the words of the mysterious man who saved her.
"What is that supposed to mean...A traitor? Who could do that though, I should tell Tohka"
"Tell me what?"
Tohka silently enters the room which scares Siyo so badly she jumps back into the bed sheets. Tohka laughs hysterically telling Siyo she is way to easy to scare and should not lower her guard so often. Siyo makes a pouting face to Tohka and then the tone in the room shifts as Tohka asks Siyo a single question.
"So, the market...Did you learn from your mistake?"
"Tohka....Why, Why couldn't I hurt them!? Am I so pathetic that I refuse to hurt even the most rotten of human beings!? They were going to attack a little girl for gods sake!"
"Perhaps it is simply not in your nature Siyo, there is not much more I can tell you than that. This is something you have to figure out for yourself, no one knows your own emotions better than you do."

"Was my mom like this too? I know you miss her just as much as me so I hate to bring it up but I need to know"
"Jade was..."
Suddenly the door to the infirmary shoots open and a hunter informs Tohka that she is needed in the main dining hall to make a speech for the new recruits party. Tohka apologies to Siyo saying they can talk later and leaves the room. Siyo gets back out of bed and grabs her sword without hesitation this time and proceeds to head out the door.
"I need to get stronger! I wont let my internal feelings get in the way of becoming a person my mother can be proud of! To the training hall it is, I don't have time for some stupid party. If there is a traitor I'm gonna catch em!"
Meanwhile, while Tohka and Siyo were having their conversation, the party in the dining hall is getting out of control and Migro finds himself caught in the crowd. Finding himself suffocated by the sheet amount of people in the room, he heads toward the closest door to the outside. Managing to make it outside he takes multiple deep breaths.
"Jeez, I am never going to understand what gave them the idea that all those people could fit in that one room. On the other hand, I hope Siyo is okay, has she not woken up yet?"
"Actually, Siyo is completly fine, she woke up a few moments ago! Sup Migro!"
Angel greets Migro outside and puts her arm around him putting on a big smile. Migro seems surprised at first but then thanks Angel for the information on Siyo.
"If you wanna go see her she is probably still up in the infirmary, or we could go get some drinks inside, upto you. It is a party for the rookies afterall! So think about it!"
Angel bids farwell to Migro, after waving goodbye Migro looks back up at the sky wishing for Siyo's saftey. Now back in the training room, the lights are all out and the room is pitch black. Siyo arrives and switches on the lights to see an all but empty room with not a single soul in sight, swiftly throwing sword to the side she grabs one of the wooden swords from a nearby basket and begins training,
"I'm gonna be ready the next time a situation like that comes to rise, I won't let myself be brought to my knees. I'm going to win with the power my mother taught me to use!"
"Ahhh!"
Siyo backsteps and bumps into a girl causing her to stop short of her attack on the training dummy mid swing. The two fall to their butts and the girl frantically apologizes for getting in Siyo's way, going as far as to bow her head to the floor. Siyo turns around to see a girl in a simple school girls outfit with black and grey patterns. The girl has long flowing green hair and a pair of glasses on. As the girl raises her head she shows a look of worry in her blue eyes.

"I really am so sorry! Please forgive me! I j-just thought I'd ask and see if you could give me directions to the dining hall."
"The dining hall? Wait...I see, you're a rookie like me huh?"
"Like you? Wait so you're a rookie too!? Now I'm triple sorry!"
"Please calm down it really is nothing, I should of payed more attention my surroundings, I just got lost in thought. My bad uh..."
"Huh? Oh my name! It's Wendy! Wendy Starlight! Nice to meet you. Who might you be?"
"Siyo Amano, nice to meet you Wendy. You will find the dining hall if you leave this room, go west and then make the first right then head straight from there. Honestly i'm surprised you got lost"
Siyo begins to think to herself that Wendy could be a possible candidate for the traitor the mysterious man mentioned, convincing herself she shouldn't trust anybody she doesn't know very well. Siyo notices a necklace on the floor and picks it up.
"Is this yours? Looks like you dropped it"
"Oh yes! Thanks for getting that, and thanks for the instructions. I feel so bad for bumping into you but I better get going, hope we get to talk again!"
Wendy heads towards the door while waving goodbye to Siyo, as a resullt of not facing foward, she runs face first into the wall next to the door. She brushes it off and leaves the room with a nervous smile back at Siyo. Siyo thinks to herself again trying to discourage herself from thinking of Wendy as a traitor and rather as a friend. Several hours later, Siyo wakes up on the floor of the training room to the sound of the doors opening.
"Ugh, really Siyo?! This is where you were all night?! Do you not know how to enjoy yourself? You are being way to hard on yourself."
"T-Tohka! I swear I didn't mean to, I just kinda lost track of time and fell asleep"
Siyo laughs while scratching the back of her head as a nervous gesture. Completely ignorning Tohka, Siyo rushes past her and grabs her sword saying they could talk later and that she needed to talk to Migro. Tohka sighs thinking to herself what she is gonna do with Siyo.
"I have to apologize to Migro for not meeting him like I said I would. Things got out of hand and he didn't deserve that."
Siyo arrives in the main hall to see a big crowd of people which surprises her since she expected everyone to be heading to their daily jobs by this time of day. Glancing up at the a board in the middle of the room she reads the words "Team creations and sign ups" wondering if she missed something important at the party. Migro runs up behind Siyo and punches her shoulder.
"There you are! I wouldn't of spotted you if not for you always wearing that coat!"
"Oh Migro! Hey I wanted to apologize for-"
"Nope! Don't even start, I don't care. I'm just glad you're okay, but hey! Did you hear about the team formations? Youy didn't come to the meeting so I didn't know if you got the details"
"I knew I missed something! So we're making teams? That sounds cool, but why is no one going to their jobs?"
Before Migro can explain further on the details of the team board in the middle of the room Angel shows up with her teammates Yui and Ren and begins to explains the details to Siyo, causing Migro to sigh as Angel stole his thunder.
"This is the Svail Hunters team board! You can create and even join teams here! It is basically so you can go on missions your assigned with people you trust you life with. You should join our team Siyo! It would be fun."
"She would just be in our way, don't forget me and Yui barely know her."
"Ren don't speak for me, I am allowed my own decisions and I agree with Angel, having her around would be great"
Siyo thanks Angel for the offer but decides she wants to make her own team and politely declines Angel's offer. Suddenly Wendy comes up to Siyo and starts to fidget with her fingers as she utters something under her breath.
"I-Id like to join your team Siyo! I-I mean our talk last time, I liked it. I wanna be friends!"
"Sure Wendy! You seem nice!"
"Hey um Siyo, I will save asking about this girl till later but shouldn't you know, name the team first?"
"Already got it in mind. Team Seiryoku! It's japanese for strength! A perfect example of what I am striving for"
Angel laughs at how straight foward the name of her team is until Siyo calls out Angel for hers probably being one as simple as "Team Angel" to which Angel insists it is not the name of her team. Yui laughs while Ren struggles to keep his laughter in and Yui proceeds to tell Siyo that it actually is the name of their team.
"That's it then. Team seriyoku. Let's be the team that defends this city from more danger than any hunter before us!"
Migro and Wendy agree with Siyo saying they won't let her down and Angel taps Siyo's shoulder to get her attention informing her that sign ups end in 10 minutes. This causes Siyo to panic to which everyone laughs.
