《Svails: Chains of Nebulas》Chapter 4: Traitor

Siyo and Migro approach the exit door to the meeting room and notice two hunters standing on each side of the door handing out papers to each hunter who exits the room. In a panic about what job she will get Siyo begins to fidget with her fingers and becomes extremley nervous. Attempting to get her mind off of it she asks Migro what he thought of the meeting.
"Through experience, I knew most of what was explained, but I am ready to face my past. There are people out there who need our help and if we don't help them then that is two less people who could save a life, that is how I see it. What about you Siyo?"
"Well, I'd say the only thing I hadn't really heard about was the Rogue having commanders, that segment was all new to me. As for the gauntlets, I had one when I was a kid so that wasn't a big surprise to me, unfortunantly I did lose it at some point and now have no idea where it ended it up."
"Yeah I remember that, you lose it shortly before you mom dissapeared. She left that as a gift to you didn't she? Really bad timing on your part to lose it"
"You make it sound like I meant to lose it! Stop being a bully for once Migro damn it!"
Suddenly the two reach the front of the line and are handed papers by the two hunters and are pushed out the door to make room for those behind them. The sound of a bell can be heard throughout the halls signifying hunters to arrive at their jobs. Knowing she is going to be late to her first job Siyo quickly glances at her paper and tells Migro she will meet up with him at lunch time and runs off.
"W-Wait! Siyo!"
"Sorry!"
"Damn it, it literally says that newcomers won't be punished because of the meeting, Siyo you idiot."
Siyo sprints down the hallway quickly dodging around other hunters in the halls. Glancing down at her paper again she looks at the specifics of her new job.
"Huh?! So I'm a recon unit huh? Man that's boring, but I can just get promoted later no biggy!"
"Look out! Out of the way!"
"Huh?!"
Siyo bumps into a girl, knocking them both to the floor as a result of her not paying attention to where she was running. The girl drops a stack of books which equally land on both Siyo and the Girl. Looking up Siyo meets the girl face to face, The girl's appearance is that of Bright red eyes and strikingly bright blonde hair with a rookie's hunter uniform.

"M-My glasses! Where did my glasses go!?"
"Oh...Uh sorry, Here I found them!"
The girl puts her glasses back on and shakes her head to get dirt out of hair before looking back at Siyo to confront her.
Siyo smiles nervously and bows her head to apologize to the girl offering to help her pick up her books.
"It's fine, just look where you are going more often! What's your name?"
"Oh, uh, Siyo!"
"That's a nice name, I'm Arus, nice to meet you Siyo! Thanks for the offer to help"
Siyo apologizes once more for knocking Arus down and making her drop her books. Arus smiles and tells Siyo once more that there is really no problem with the situation and stands up with her books in hand once more.
"It really was nice meeting you Siyo, but I have to go to my new job. Bye!"
"Oh! Likewise!....Wait...New job!? Shit!"
Siyo quickly gets up off the ground and rushes through the courtyard in panic as she is even more late for her job than before. As she continues running she is waved down by her friend Angel who attempts to start conversation.
"Sorry Angel! No distractions! I need to get to the recon building and fast!"
"Oh? If you're looking for that building it's to the east around the gate and then straight foward!"
"Thanks Angel! Talk later!"
Siyo arrives at Angel's intructed location and is faced with a giant radio type looking tower.
"This must be it, god I am not cut out for cardio"
Siyo takes multiple deep breathes and heads into the building. The inside of the building is filled with computers and multiple people at desks, the overwhelming sound of clicking on a keyboard echo's throughout the room. Suddenly a man comes down the stairs in a captains uniform.
"What is your name newcomer?"
"Siyo Amano captain! I am here to report for my new job as a recon unit at this tower!"
"Very good! Pleased to meet you Siyo, I am Jacob Runner, captain of the East recon unit, if you would please follow me up to the top of the tower I will place you at your position"
"About that, what exactly will my job be here?"
"We watch cameras around the city and make calls in to battle unit hunters to take care of things. We also inspect the aftermath of situations in hopes of gaining information out of them though, as well as grabbing gauntlets from enemies and storing them in the vault. I know the job seems boring but you get used to it trust me."

Siyo sighs from boredom saying to herself that she wonders if Migro got a better job than her. The two arrive at the top of the tower where there are more people on computers, however this time there are wide windows surrounding the entire floor with a sky view of the entire city outside of them. The giant barrier surrounding the city of Ryke is as clear as day from the window's view much to Siyo's surprise.
"Wow I've never been up this high! Awesome!"
"Told ya the job would grow on ya! You can find your uniform over on the left side of the room"
"Um actually...if it isn't to much trouble, can I keep my black coat on? It was a gift from my mother and it is a nice reminder of her."
"Very well then, you may keep your coat on just make sure you wear a name tag so noone has to ask for your name who works with you"
Siyo and Jacob's conversation is suddenly interrupted by flashing red lights and a loud siren. One of the recon units calls for Jacob's immediate attention at one of the computers.
"Sir! A small group of Rogue attacked the nearby market, they are stealing the food! Orders?"
"Send in 3 battle hunters right away!"
Siyo sits down at her station and quickly turns on her monitor asking which camera the attack is going down on.
"Camera 17, market section 12"
"Wow this looks serious, it's only 3 but their doing this much damage? Why though!?"
"This is how the Rogue do things, no regard for other humans need to live. There is no reason in trying to question it."
"Damn it! Where are those hunters, they should be there!"
"We can't do anything but wait I know it's hard"
Siyo stares at the monitor with an angry face as the Rogue attack the people in the market, she witnesses multipe people get struck down by a man with a rapier and another man with Katana. Suddenly one of the Rogue come in contact with a little girl who is now surrounded in a corner.
"They aren't gonna make it in time!"
Siyo shoots up from her chair and jumps out through the window telliing Jacob she has to do something. Jacob attempts to stop Siyo but is to late and immediately starts reporting Siyo's actions. Siyo stabs her sword into the side of the building to slow the momentum from her fall and lands ontop of one of a roof, proceeding to run towards the market station that is currently under attack. In the market one of the Rogue men raise their sword to the girl and tells her she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As the sword comes down it is blocked by Siyo's sword at the last second.
"Get out of her now! I gave you an opening!"
"Congratulations, you saved a single life. You hunters can't keep this city or it's people safe forever, if you just changed sides and worked with us you would have such a better life, don't you get that?!"
"Like I'd work with scum like you who has no regard for human life, only the benifits that it brings!"
"You won't strike me girl, It's all over your eyes. You talk big but you don't have the will to strike another human being, that is the weakness that flows in the minds of those who waste their lives to save others. Your resolve is nothing but an act!"
The rouge members draw their swords against Siyo and as they get closer to her Siyo finds herself unable to move. In a panic she backs up towards the wall with her sword ready.
"Why! Why won't my body move?! Just strike them damn it!"
"Goodbye girl!"
Suddenly a black figure drops down from the roof tops and decapitates the ring leader of the Rogue group and proceeds to stab the other two at the same time with 2 hidden blades. Siyo drops to the floor letting go of her sword with an expression of fear and shock and looks up at the figure who just saved her life.
"That's not a hunters uniform! W-Who are you!?"
Siyo gets no direct answer from the figure who appears to be scanning her body for more weapons as they are looking up and down her coat. The figures eyes seem to stop for a split second at Siyo's sword on the ground and suddenly a mans voice is heard.
"There is a traitor in your ranks"
The man quickly leaves as multiple citizens come out of hiding and help Siyo up off the ground. A few seconds later the 3 battle hunters arrive to the scene and She passes out on the ground.

Dauntless: Origins
Snow white hair, blue eyes, pale. Devil, monster, mutt, failure. This story follows one Tyr Faeron, crown prince, heir primus and mass murderer. A wrathful, angry, and lost young man that has made it his goal to hunt down the men that killed his mother - and he is on the cusp of finishing the promise he'd made before her cairn stones so many years ago. On the surface he is duplicitous, whimsical, and base of cunning - but within the depths beyond the many masks he wears, something is waiting. Waiting for an end, the end he'd come to long for, whether it be to himself or any possible threats in his vicinity. After that long labor of vengeance is completed... Nobody knows, not even him - an arrogant and otherwise solitary individual with nothing in the way of friends - only the brothers of the blackguard who follow him through life as he pursues this mission. He was born a prince, but he'd be called a disappointment - failing to manifest the great power that he was born to before being summarily discarded by his father, a 250 year old 'primus'. That word again... Men who can shatter mountains and level cities, that's what he was supposed to be. Some call them demi-gods, all Tyr sees is a poor excuse for a parent. Time had made him bitter, cruel, and arguably psychotic - seeing only enemies wherever he looks. They'd come for him, too, one day - to wipe the slate clean and make room for another - and it's his conviction to ensure that he dies while taking as many of those rats with him. This is a story about finding acceptance, growth, and understanding - from the point of view of a cold and brutal individual who wears many masks. Of someone who was born to be the greatest emperor the eastern continent has ever seen - but he failed in that. Strong, yes, but only in the context of a man - Tyr's magic is weak. His convictions are weak. He has been made a beast of instinct by loss and a constant confronting of his own impotency in the face of his father. A mythos that stretches across planes, of magic, a pantheon of cruel gods. Of someone who's dedicated his entire mind to the art of killing a man, and none to living a normal childhood or coming to understand friendship, empathy, or compassion. The first five years of his life a mystery, a hole none have ever been willing to fill, leaving him warped and twisted. His formative years gone and what must've been most of his humanity along with it. Now 17, he is on the cusp of leaving the city he'd never been permitted to leave for what might be the first time in his life. Always searching, though he won't know what for, for some time. An episodic that follows experience and symbolism rather than a never ending series of battles - where the conflict lay in constantly searching for wholeness in lieu of great villains or heroes. This is where it all started, the origin, the tale told a million times - and yet it hadn't been, 'reality' is tricky like that. The greatest lie ever told by the tongue that speaks is that any of this was real at all.
