《Smoking Bandits》SB4.3 - Stanic Enter Pinetown

A large question mark filled Captain Jaret's face as he looked at Lark and the two figures flanking him.

The first figure is an Orc wearing hunting gear, black CQB glasses, and casually enjoying a stick of Kuba.

While the second figure is a Wolf People little girl who also wears a hunter's outfit, black CQB glasses, and cheerfully enjoying biscuit tubes.

Captain Jaret looked deeply at Lark before asking, "Are you sure they can use firearms?"

Lark cheerfully replied, "They've already tried it."

Binding Orcs with Slave Scrolls was not a new idea, but never developed further. Like Beast People, Orcs turned out can't fight using firearms and Slave Scroll is expensive commodities.

The Slave Scroll's side effect of feeling trapped also stressed the Orcs, and they would commit suicide within 6-8 weeks after being tied with Slave Scroll.

However, the Orc next to Lark didn't show any signs of restlessness or discomfort due to Slave Scroll's side effects.

But Captain Jaret did not think about it any further. He turned his attention to the only Little Hunter in Pinetown. "Did Terre sell you?"

Vivian shook her head spontaneously, while Lark explained, "Stanic and I found her near Triple Waterfall."

Captain Jaret nodded before kneeling in front of Vivian. "Did they tie you up with Slave Scroll?"

Vivian shook her head one more time, and Captain Jaret asked her again, "Where's Terre?"

"All of Vivian's comrades were killed by an unidentified shooter, but he or she left her alone," Lark casually explained.

Captain Jaret then rose to his feet and took a deep look at Lark. "Please treat Vivian as best as you can, or you can hand her over to me and I'll compensate you."

Before Lark could answer, Vivian had gone ahead. "Nope, hunting with Lark and Stanic was a lot of fun."

Captain Jaret was not offended by Vivian's refusal. He smiled before saying, "When you get tired of hunting with them, feel free to come to me."

Seeing Vivian nod, Captain Jaret then turned his attention to the body bags on Stanic's back. "Are they bodies of hunters?"

While Stanic placed the body bags on the table, Lark pulled out a map and pointed to a coordinate. "We found them in a Goblin's lair on the north side of Hunting Radius. Their extra magazines are still intact. It seems they didn't expect Goblins would ambush them in Hunting Radius."

'I also wouldn't expect there to be a Goblin's lair on Hunting Radius,' muttered Captain Jaret before examining the dog tags on both skeletons. "They're Pine Co scouts and we lost contact with them five days ago. Thank you for bringing them home."

"No problem, we have also set traps in the nest. If Pine Co sends a team to destroy it, ask them to pay attention to the three-line marks on the left side of the cave wall, and two-line marks on the right side. For the other lines, it can be ignored."

"Understood." Captain Jaret nodded before inspecting the two Sig SG 551 and found they were still functioning properly. "You have the right to take these weapons."

Lark casually replied, "We've taken what we wanted."

When he has no choice, Lark will not hesitate to use his fallen comrades' weapon. But if not, then he would let every weapon remain with its owner, except for the opponent's weapon.

Lark then handed over Orcs and Goblins' ears he had collected. For each Orc's ear, he gets 150 Rells. While for each Goblin's ear he gets 20 Rell.

After using the rell card machine to pay Lark's reward, Captain Jaret said, "The sentries might forbid your Orc to enter, but I will try to help. If I fail then just bring your Orc here. I will prepare a place for him."

"Understood and thanks in advance."

Lark then left Sawmill 55 with Stanic and Vivian.

It seems Vivian is very popular in Pinetown. Because when the sentries saw her, one of them immediately asked, "Did Terre sell you?"

"No," Vivian answered as she put the candy wrapper she had just eaten into her multipurpose pouch.

The sentry then pointed at Lark with his chin before asking, "Did he tie you up with Slave Scroll?"

"No," Vivian replied shortly.

"Then, how about you stay with me? My wife will be very happy if you stay with us."

After pondering for a moment Vivian shook her little head, and the sentry could only sigh before turning his attention towards Lark.

"First, I'll beat you up if you don't treat Vivian well." Still in a super serious tone, the sentry continued, "Second, you can't bring in an Orc even if it's already tied with Slave Scroll."

Smiling ear to ear, Lark handed the sentry a small money bag. "I found this on my way here. Please, help me find the owner."

"Sorry, for this one you cannot solve it with bribes." The sentry looked at the money bag with regret, but he showed no sign of changing his mind.

However, before Lark left to return to Sawmill 55, an NCO came out of the guard post and approached him while still carrying a handheld radio.

"Are you Lark?"

"Yeah, that's me."

The NCO took a deep look at Lark before saying, "You can take your Orc into town, but you must instantly execute him if he shows any intention of harming humans."

"Understood and thank you."

Lark was about to set foot when the previous sentry said, "Sarge, if the Orc loses control and kills humans, then we will be roasted alive."

"I know, but Major Jovic gave his consent." The NCO then turned to Lark before saying, "Thank you for bringing our missing comrades home."

"No problem."

Without delay, Lark then left the town gates with Stanic and Vivian.

With a light step Milev entered the quiet Glue House, where only a few lights in the corner of the yard were on.

This afternoon Major Jovic asked him to find out why Lark tied an Orc with a Slave Scroll. Coincidentally, he also wants to know about Lark's plan to Vivian.

Milev is one of many people in Pinetown who want to adopt Vivian. However, Terre doesn't want to let Vivian go no matter how much compensation he offers.

Then, without any warning Milev's hair suddenly stood upright when he reached the center of courtyard. Without delay he darted into Butcher Quarter, where above the flaming stone stove was a half-cooked deer leg.

Krasak krasak!

Milev almost jumps on the spot, when footsteps on the dry leaves are suddenly heard.

Reaching the USP Compact at his waist, Milev swept every corner of the yard. "Lark, don't joke around and show yourself."

"Top is out with Vivian."

A deep and hoarse voice suddenly sounded, along with the appearance of a figure, from a corner that the light could not reach.

Milev had killed eight Orcs when he was a hunter, and two of them were in hand-to-hand combat. So it could be said he wouldn't be intimidated by the presence of an Orc.

It just, somehow the Orc in front of him made his instincts scream that he should run away as soon as possible.

Gulp!

'This Orc is extremely strong. Maybe only a little weaker than a Tribal Chief,' muttered Milev while his hand almost pulled out the USP Compact. 'Damn it Lark, where did you get such dangerous Orc?'

At the same time, Stanic indifferently looks at Milev. "If I want you dead, I would be burying you in the backyard right now."

With a shaking voice, Milev then asked, "When will Lark be back?"

"A few minutes or maybe a few hours. I don't know for sure." Stanic grabs a pack of Kuba and a lighter before offering it to Milev. "Cigarettes?"

In all his life, Milev had never imagined that one day he would be offered a cigarette by an Orc, but he had to refuse.

"No thanks, I'll come back later."

"Okay."

Stanic nodded slightly, while Milev hurried to leave Glue House with his back drenched in cold sweat.
