《The village elder is manipulating our minds!》Hero

/Pierce!/
“Out of nowhere, another one of the Hares came running from the Crops. But instead of eating, this one was running straight at Jonathan”
“It was running so fast that it crossed the distance of 50 M in 2 seconds”
(90km/h)
“And if it couldn't be worse, this Hare had a large horn on top of its head!”
“When it seemed as if Jonathan’s days had been counted, a tall and muscular man, took a step forward and pierced with his pitchfork.”
-ELDER! Are You okay? Said Richard.
-I… I am fine.
I almost crapped myself there… I think I farted… Thankfully everyone is screaming.
Focus Jonathan! You are the fucking Elder now! You need to grow a backbone!
I turned around and looked at the man that saved my life. He was a tall man with strong muscles.
His pitchfork was covered in the blood of the Hare.
How did he…
When the Hare appeared, he immediately reacted, putting one foot in front of the other.
This created a solid base for him to move his right arm forward with the pitchfork, perfectly intercepting the Hare.
But how? How did he stop the Hare?!
I can only imagine the strength necessary to stop a Hare the size of a child running at 90Km/h with one arm to boot!
-Thank you but… Is your arm alright?
-Hm? Oh! I am sorry! I only acted on instinct!
Instinct?! Are you some sort of martial genius? Who would have such instincts!
-Instinct or not, you saved my life! Tell me your name!
-I… My name is Longinus sir.
… WHAT? What a strange coincidence…
-I think it's already time anyway…
“Jonathan turned around, facing the entirety of the village”
-As you all saw, today we were attacked by a small group of beasts. But even though we managed to repel them, they were nothing but Hares! The weakest of all creatures in the forest.
-So today I would like to appoint three Strong souls whose duty will be to protect us!
-Please Ryan, give me the spears.
“Ryan was stunned but he soon moved, giving three shinning spears to Jonathan”
[Iron spear (Normal)]
[Iron spear (Normal)]
[Iron spear (Sharp)]

Cutting and piercing power +15%]
This should be enough.
-From now on, our security and safety will be handled by these three souls! Please take a step ahead those who would like to take such a role!
“From the crowd, two people took a step forward. One middle aged man without a beard and one young men”
It's that guy… The one who wishes to become an adventurer…
Look at his eyes, they are shining. He must think this is the life of an adventurer…
Advertisement
Ignorant kid… I need to put him in the right path before he kills himself.
-Perfect! Two people, just as I wanted.
-... But Elder. There are four spears. Said the man who killed the Hare on my side.
-One of the Spears is mine, and the other… It's yours.
-MINE?! But Elder! I don't know how to fight!
-Neither do I, and I am pretty sure that no one in the village knows how to.
-But…
-You can refuse if you wish. But currently, I think you are more suited to be a guard, a warrior.
-No one is born knowing how to walk, you can always learn how to wield a proper spear later. So, what do you think? Will you take this position and protect your family?
Please! Take it Goddammit! If what I saw wasn't just luck, you are made to use spears! You might not even stop at just a guard! You can grow to be something higher than that!
-... If that's what I need to do, then I will do as you wish, Elder.
I gave him the best spear, the one with the “Sharp” modifier.
-Good! You two, come and pick your spears!
“The two came and picked the spears with trembling hands”
-From now on these are our warriors! Our swords and shields! Give them a round of applause!
/Clap clap clap/
[DING]
[The condition has been satisfied]
[Have 10% of your inhabitants be guards]
[The Guard force has been created for the first time, as a bonus, all assigned Units will be immediately turned into Tier-0 Guards]
[Please build a Guard outpost as soon as possible so the Guards may start working]
This… This is a surprise.
Build a Guard outpost? I will check that later.
But there is one thing missing…
[DING]
[20/20 Villagers assigned]
[Under the excitement of yet another victory, the villagers' excitement reaches another level.
Average happiness +10
+10% work efficiency for one week
]
It 's here. Phew, two quests in a single day. That's what I am talking about!
Now I only need to build more stations and a Guard outpost.
And with this, I think the first phase of my grand plan is done!
Just kidding…
“Jonathan parted ways with the villagers after another small speech, going home in order to clean himself in the bathtub.”
…
-Haa…
/Puuf/
“After taking a shower and changing to a pair of clothes he got as loot from the exploration, Jonathan crashed into his bed”
-What a strange day…
-I woke up to a sudden “monster” attack, and had to kill 9 Giant Hares.
-Then I almost died due to a sudden ambush, only to be saved by a farmer with surprisingly good instincts.
-I completed two quests and I am now at 98 Happiness.
-The Guards are now fully operational after I had the Guard outpost be built.
Although it's still in construction...
This were the specifications for the Guard outpost:
[Guard Outpost
Wood x20, Stone x30, Iron x 5
Guards are necessary to run this Outpost
Guards assigned to this Outpost will patrol all roads inside its radius on fixed intervals.
They will train using the training grounds inside the Outpost, and maintain its facilities on their own.
The more guards there are, the faster the training.
Once there are 10 guards, there will be a need to assign a Guard captain
In case a criminal is caught, it will be encaged inside the Prisoners cells in its basement.
Guards consume double the amount of rations due to the heavy physical activity of their training.
More rations and supplies can be moved to the Outpost to further boost their training.
Extra effect:
Well Guarded
Your entire Village is under the radius of the Outpost increasing its defenses.
All guard units +30% to their overall capabilities.
]
This was by far the priciest building I have ever set up.
But the effects more than compensate for that!
Look at that bonus Well Guarded effect!
And if I give them more resources will they train faster?
Good thing Crops grow so quickly!
-And our first harvest is soon to be collected! I am excited to know just how much 19 Small Fields worth of Ricecorn will provide.
-Considering its 19 Fields… It should be at least more than enough to feed all of them for the next three months! After all, those 20 were enough for them in previous times, why not now?
[DING]
[Your Crops are ready to be collected]
-What are you waiting for! Collect!
…
“After 15 minutes, the first Crop fields were all harvested at the same time”
(Because there was one farmer for each crop for a total of around 10, they all started at the same time as well.)
[You have gained 5 days worth of supplies and 2 bags of seeds, 5 days and 1 bag, 10 days and 4 bags, 5 days and...]
-Wow… But isn't the value wrong? Wasn't it supposed to be much more?
Hum… Each field can feed 30 people for 5 days. Those 10’s were probably the special effect of the soil.
Remember that the “Fertile” soil has a chance to produce double its normal wield.
This is good though. One Field can feed everyone here, the rest is just a bonus.
And if we consider that when a Ricecorn plant is fully grown, the next harvest will be twice as fast. Meaning their total wield just doubled.
If I go on the safe side, I can safely say that each Ricecorn Crop field can feed 50 villagers.
That's an insane number!
-Looks like I don't need to care for food anymore… Meaning I can already provide some extra supplies for the Guard Outpost.
-The quicker they grow the safer I will be. In the meantime I can increase their Reputation and Happiness to make sure they don't grow any rebellious thoughts.
-With so much food we should be able to properly take care of some farm animals and even sell the extra food!
-I should also look for more types of seeds to plant since I am sure I will get tired of eating rice soon… Even though I fucking love rice…
-Oh yeah! Because of the Hares, we will be having meat tonight! YEAH!!!
-I can't wait… Although… We don't have any spices. Fuck… That's another thing I need to find a solution for soon.
-I also need to build a workshop for our leatherworker, I am sure he is having quite the time right now skinning those Hares.
I should have all of the essential building ready by the end of the week,
But what should I do after?
-Communication?... No, it 's too soon. I don't want to attract attention to myself yet. I should stay put for now.
-Perhaps we can find some wild animals and tame them? Ducks and Chickens? Is that possible?
-We would need a tamer first…
-And spices… Perhaps I can start with planting some exotic plants. But I need to find their seeds first.
I have so much to do and my head hurts…
“Suddenly, a pigeon barged into the room, he made his way to my desk and waited”
-WHAT?!... Wait… He has a letter on his leg...
[DING]
[You have received a letter from a Messenger pigeon]
[A merchant Caravan coming from the North will soon stop in your village]
-I can’t fucking believe it! It has been only a few days… Is it my luck or is it because they didn't stop by the village last time so I am getting a second chance?
How much money do I have?!

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
