《3 Hearts》Routines

I'm currently heading home, which is quite exhausting if you consider, the fact, this town is constructed in a vertical way like some kind of awkward pillar. I can see my home from the schoolyard but still have to climb stairs for 30 minutes straight before I can reach there.
If you ask yourself, if there are often accidents of falling down the stairs, the answer is no.
In our society, where everyone fights monsters and has enough power in their fists to smash rocks, the stairs are the ones that get broken if someone falls, so they are the real losers of this world. Poor pitiful stairs.
But jokes aside I'm finally home, where there isn't anyone to welcoming me, as I live alone, and have no friends, or family.
Family... that is a weird concept for me, I have not a single memory of my parents. I just remember going to many different families.
I never stayed with a single family for long enough to remember their names now. It was just... weird.
But you know? It's still ok as I'll just do what I do almost every day. I first throw my school stuff onto my bed, take one manapple for the way (which is a fruit that grows from mana and looks similar to apples but is purple in colour and bigger) and head back down into the city. And beyond it, as I climb down to the real floor of the giant cave and start heading to one of the corners of it, where there is a huge mana crystal growing.
Because mana is the source of their powers, and mana crystals are manifested mana, this biggest of all mana crystals is somewhat holy for the citizens of Sanctuary. So the access to the area surrounding it is restricted, but there just isn't anyone to guard it, because either they just don't care all that much or just don't think anyone would even be interested enough in it to break the law.

But here I am, already climbing the small fence, to get inside of the small forest of magical plants and trees that grow near these crystals.
And I head further to the crystal. It seems, usually, you feel some kind of pain when you get near the crystals. They say this is because the mana in this area I way too dense, so their bodies can't handle the pressure. But I never felt even a sliver of mana, so this doesn't concern me.
I walk directly next to the crystal and just sit down, leaning my back against it, while finishing my manapple.
When I first realized I couldn't use mana, I hoped my power would just come a bit later than usual, but that never happened. I lost my hope when I turned 13 years. I figured it wouldn't come naturally, so I wanted to help the process. And since that day I sit here every day while hoping for the strong mana that surrounds the crystal to change something in me. 3 years went by since then. I now am 17 years old, but there never was a change in my situation. I don't think, this will change anything anymore, but I got used to coming here. This is the only silent place in Sanctuary since no one comes here. I like this peace, so I'll just take a little nap like I always do.
Suddenly everything starts shaking and a very loud explosion could be heard.
But I do not panic as this is something, that every now and then just happens. Nobody knows what exactly this is, but they guess it has something to do with angels and dragons colliding right above us on the surface.
But something is weird this time, it seems to be shaking stronger than usual and for far longer!

Usually, it only takes four to five seconds but it's already longer than a minute!
Whatever is fighting up there must be incredibly strong!
Time passed in which it went silent and started shaking over and over again.
Then after approximately 15 minutes, it is finally over and the whole town is in turmoil.
Some elderly already think it's the end now and others think we might have angered some gods.
I guess I'd better get out of here before someone sees me here in the forbidden grounds. Normally no one comes here but now, everything could happen.
Just when I want to stand up to get away, I freeze in place.
I can't move a single muscle. I can't even breathe. I don't dare to!
Then I can feel something behind me. Right, where the crystal should be I can feel something else...

The Bridges We Must Cross (Part 1/5)
"There are bridges that need to be crossed in the world. You and I have the same bridge that we must cross simultaneously lest we fall. So tell me, Prince...will we cross this bridge, or will we burn it?" Serah is a normal princess turned villanious pirate captain who is cold hearted and ruthless. Elizabeth is a guilt-stricken emotionally abused orphan who accidentally caused her mother's death. Tanner killed his father. On purpose. Henry seems bulletproof, but is made of glass. Lydia is the youngest, who has seen the darkest side of the moon. What happens when this rowdy, tough crew of bloodthirsty pirates meets their match: A group of spoiled royals, whose lives aren't as put together as they seem? Why, love's bound to happen in the process. (I do not own the cover) (This is set in a world different from ours, with different countries.) This is part one out of five parts. Five short books in all that span over a few years.

The Discarded
The Umbrae Lunae existed before man, beautiful abominations birthed in the nightmares of mad gods. They wait for humanity to misstep, for the angels to look away. For the moment when they can cloak the world in moon shadows once again. But even horrors have children. Even nightmares must feed. One child, unlike the others, finds his way to a school for young abominations. Will he be a sheep cast before the wolves, or a terror that wears the skin of wool to entice the wolf close? The flesh of his body was his only coin, strips cut to pay debts that never ended. Everyone has scars, stories in a life led, lessons learned, and licks taken. Luminous bodies touched by darkness. There are a cursed few that are the opposite, black shadows consumed by scars, twisted minds devoured by diseased hungers, bodies tortured misshapen works of gouged flesh, silver lines of blade thin cuts, ragged tears of teeth and glass. For them, the scars are marks of homecoming, the mangled wasteland the only place they feel at peace. Hell is a place. It's made of concrete, steel and glass. It's the sounds of starving kids crying themselves to sleep, huddling into small balls as creepers come and take their due of innocence and tender meat. It's eating rotten food and carrying ticks in your hair. It’s having no one and nothing while surrounded by everything. It's the life of a street kid. What abomination was birthed in the corrupt womb of man’s cast-off shit? Pretty people don't know the power of ugly. They can't see the strength in a broken soul or the power in a calloused heart. Those secrets are for the discarded alone. Only the broken understand the grace of darkness. The blessed folds that hide scars and tears, the protection of its concealing umbra.
