It's just another day, with another test and another round of physical training.

I'm tired of this. Everyone else seems to be hyped to become some kind of hero to save the world, but I do not even care about this goddamn world anymore. No one cares about me, so why should I? And on top of that, every kind of training would just be wasted on me anyway. I may sound depressed or something, but I'm not, I'm just realistic. In the eyes of the most, I'm a waste, because I am not compatible.

If you ask yourself what it is, with which I'm not compatible, it isn't anything important, it's just the force that drives this world to work the way it does. It's simply "mana". When we turn 10 years old, everyone gets some kind of "Power" which gives the people the possibility to use mana to strengthen their bodies or to cast magic. But well, I didn't get this ability, which seems to be extremely rare nowadays, because usually, everyone gets such a system. It is in fact so rare, I seem to be the only Human to be born in the last hundreds of years with this condition.

But as I said I don't even care anymore, and no one cares about me. And just in case you think I'd get bullied or something;

Don't worry, they just ignore me, like I'm air or something.

My guess is, they are just too busy trying to survive, so they have no time to care about me.

In this town, that is called "The Last Sanctuary", or just "Sanctuary", as most of its citizens call it, there are fights against demons, monsters and such stuff almost every day.

The name has its origin in the fact that this is the last existing human settlement on this planet. No one can confirm that, but there is just no way to prove the opposite. It's not like we've ever met other people, so I think this is a valid conclusion.

Many parties tried to find other settlements, but they never got far.

This whole Village is placed in a huge cave, so big you can't even see the bottom of it if you are at the very top.

And on all sides of our cave, tunnels are leading into it.

It's in these tunnels, where the monsters live. And it's those tunnels they attack us from.

Most of the monsters living near our city are rather weak. If you are physically trained you could probably take care of them without mana. But the deeper you get into the system of tunnels, the stronger the monsters get.

According to our chief priest, this is due to the giant crystals that grow inside of Sanctuary.

He says these crystals are a gift from our god, whose name I always forget, but that's a different story.

Anyways these Crystals emit especially pure energy which is the natural nemesis of the monsters.

If the monster is stronger, the amount of impurities in their mana is higher, so the strong monsters don't like to get near here.

Also, the priest I just mentioned is like the most important person in our village, he is the chief priest, the mayor, the judge, oh AND my teacher. No one dares to obey him since they believe, he is gods chosen one.

Do you like this Introduction? It's by the way just the stuff the teacher in front of us is currently preaching, yes preaching because we hear the same old story every GOD DAMN DAY, like this whole thing is just some kind of religion. Well, it probably really is.

The cause for this is probably the fact that this town seems to exist for 999 years already, and due to the fact, that there were no books that got secured from the cataclysm, our teacher seems to just don't know anything else.

Now now the teacher gets to the best part. He's telling us about the founding story of this Village. It was 999 years ago.

Yeah, 999, next weak, there will be a huge celebration because this village turns 1000 years old.

Oh and just listen to what the teacher is about to say.

"Now, to remind you once more of the huge feat that our ancestors accomplished by founding this town, I'm going to tell you about the cataclysm. One day the sky started to crack. The sky is something that covered the whole planet and it is handed down that it was completely blue, similar to the mana crystals that grow in here but much, much more grand and beautiful, with a sun in it that warmed your skin when it shone upon us and made plants grow, all by themselves.

But this grand and beautiful sky just shattered in front of the eyes of our ancestors, and from the void beyond it, THEY came.

Above a country that was known by the name "United Steaks of Murica," the dragons came from the sky, and just one of them was enough the annihilate the whole country with a single of their dragons' breaths. And above a country that was called "Rushia", a huge golden portal opened, and from there, the ones that call themselves "Angels" came.

And they are said to be even worse, than the dragons, because one of them, the so-called archangel, turned every human in a 1000 kilometre radius into pure mana, so they could strengthen their armies.

And after that, everywhere on earth, the demons started to appear from underground, our ancestors had to decide fast. And so they decided to go underground into an old mine. This may seem irrational since that's the domain of the monsters, but the monsters were weak little kittens compared to the dragons or the angels. The three superpowers started to fight each other, as soon as they came. No one knows what happened up there since then, but the fact, that the monsters are still here, tells us, the other two factions must still be up there.

But the is a silver lining in every crisis. For us, this silver lining is the gift, our God has bestowed upon us.

Because since that fateful day every single one of us was blessed with the "Power" that our merciful gods granted us.

And since that day, mana started to imbue our world."

You know? It really hurts. The way he emphasizes the word "everyone". He always does this, you know?

As if he just wants to mock me.

Well, it's time to go home, since our lessons just ended for today.
