《Heart Of A Servant》Chapter 31 : The murmur of the shadows

The rift brought us in the backyard of the Kyle’s mansion, the same place it had appeared the last time it had taken us away from our home planet.
The Brightmoon mansion seemed as calm as usual. We had arrived at night so most of the servants were probably still asleep.
Two shadows then attacked the three of us. It seemed that the rift had created some disturbance in the area.
I recognized the two shadows at a glance even under the night’s low light. They were Brandis Dumein and Silas Bersk, the two guards of the mansion both with the strength of a Middle stage Intermediary Hallowed Swordsman.
“At ease boys. It’s just us.” I said, but I remembered that they only knew Kyle. Kelly and I were strangers.
Besides, Kelly had the habit of floating in the air and never touched the ground. I thought he did that to reach an adult’s height with his baby body. On top of that, he was naked and only covered the important parts of his body with fire as if wearing fire clothes, which reminded me that I could now craft him clothes impervious even to his tier 9 fire.
The two guards couldn’t recognize Kyle either. Kyle now had long hair and his pupils were white and glowed in the darkness.
In the eyes of the two guards we were three terrifying beings of legends that had just trespassed in their territory. I felt that they could feel that we were stronger than them which was a good thing. They soon stopped attacking and then the bulky one, Silas Bersk then said, “You’re trespassing. Please leave.”
I could see some cold sweat on his forehead. From the way I had easily deflected their attacks it could be assumed that they were apprehensive of me.

Kyle then advanced and said slowly, “I know I have changed a lot since last time, but you should still be able to recognize me.”
Brandis was the quick witted one as he said with a quivering voices, “Lord Kyle…is…is that yo..you?”
Kyle nodded, “Yes. It is me… and these are my friends.”
Then the misunderstanding was concluded. Out of curiosity, I asked the guards, “How long has it been since we,,, since kyle was gone?”
Silas then answered, “About a year.”
I was floored. If we subtract the time spent in the rift that felt like an eternity, the time we had spent in that world amounted to a month if not two months at most.
I put it to the back of my mind as I followed the rest in the mansion. Kyle and Kelly were not gods yet, so they needed rest after the straining stay in the rift.
I spent the next two days reviewing the spells I had acquired while the other two were still asleep.
Kelly was the first to wake up followed by Kyle who had been taken over by his evil alter. Everywhere Kyle passed, the few servants we had screamed as if they had seen a demon because his now black eyes released a black element that floated and then disappeared in the area around his eyes. It was the same for the flying baby clad in fire.
I decided to do something about it before we were labeled as heretic demons and hunted to the ends of the planet.
First, I made twelve sets of clothes for Kelly and had to force him to wear them. It seemed his personality had changed now that he looked like a baby despite the fact that he was Kyle’s clone.

I also crafted a pair of sunglasses that could absorb the leaking darkness element that leaked out of his eyes.
“Hello, Little Kay. I thought you looked better clad in fire like a savage, don’t you think?” Kyle’s evil alter, the Shadow, said.
Kelly seemed to become immediately infuriated, “Oh? To think that I’m actually a clone of a mentally ill person who changes personalities when he wants. Don’t let it rub off on me.”
The Shadow then had a hearty laugh. A miniature shadow dragon then appeared above his right palm, he said, “You see this? This is that dragon’s shadow that I kept. Weren’t you made from a disgusting dragon? Yet you walk around proudly calling yourself human…I wonder what would happen if you made me angry and I accidently fused this little shadow with your shadow. I’m sure that by then there will be a very interesting show to see. Hehehehe.”
The Shadow then let the little shadow dragon advance towards the little Kelly.
Kelly flew at a breakneck speed towards me and hid behind my back saying, “You see? He’s bullying me. Please stop him.”
His little voice sounded like a wronged infant that had indeed been bullied. I had to take off my hat to the Shadow for making Kelly act like a wronged kid.
I looked the Shadow in the eye, and it got the message and stored the little shadow dragon. It could feel a great danger coming from me and that was enough for me to control it…But it was what it said next that proved to me that I had a real future problem in my hands.
“The shadows tell me that the time when I will reign over this body is drawing near…by then, we would be equals…are you sure you can control me then?” the Shadow said.
I digested those words carefully and made sure not to show how shocked I was inside. Of course, I already knew that the Shadow could see the future.
‘It’s the meeting with his parents that would make him become completely evil’, as the treasure spirit of the magus stone had said. What should I do? Should I make his parents disappear to save Kyle from himself? He’d never pardon me if he ever found out. I’m also the one who once used the bloodline compass to tell him that at least one of his parents were still alive.
Ah…what a headache!

Primacy Online
Life on Earth was nearly eradicated in World War III, but using alien technology, the Patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection built a new society from the ashes. He created what he called the Constructed Reality MMORPG, Primacy Online, a world so real that the players could not distinguish it from reality. After outlawing wars between the city-states on Earth, he declared that all wars would be fought inside the world of Primacy Online. Thirteen hundred years later, the release of Primacy Online VI: Legacy of Balor signals the beginning of World War IX. Players from Earth's city-states will be locked in cryogenic capsules and play Primacy Online in War Mode. Their achievements in the game will determine the victory rankings of their city-states, but if they die in the game, they will die for real. Patrick Armagh found flaws in the game mechanics of Primacy Online and exploited them to rise to the peak of the game. But when the Church declared he was cheating, he was perma-banned from the game. Now, the Church has declared that Patrick and all the other perma-banned cheaters will be included in a special Church group for World War IX, where they can earn redemption for their sin of cheating. However, Morgan Danan, Speaker of the City of Mann, and the generally acknowledged number one player of Primacy Online, has a deal for Patrick. With her help and his method of cheating, he has the chance to become a virtual god within Primacy Online, but by taking up her offer, he will become an enemy of the Church. Like a significant percentage of Primacy Online players, Patrick suffers from an ultimately fatal, degenerative nervous system disorder. He has less than five years to live. With death staring him in the face and nothing to live for, he accepts Morgan Danan's offer, and once again, enters Primacy Online as Crom Cruach, a disgraced legend.
