《Heart Of A Servant》Chapter 21 : Vampire

The white milky blood was rampaging inside Kyle’s body trying to fuse with it.

One of the sixty-nine Magus gods, a fat man, then said, “Will he survive the procedure or will he die?”

Another Magus god then said, “His Blood was modified by a spell...one of the spells we’re after...we all saw it happen in his past.”

The fat Magus god then said, “Yes...the late Blood Demon Clan’s legacy. They’ve been wiped out from the universe and this human is the only one alive whose blood was modified by one of their spells...the magus who modified his blood must’ve acquired the spell from the Ancient Codex.”

An old Magus god with a white beard nodded and said, “With close to seventeen billions of Magic Beasts sacrificed, there no doubt that all that vitality will transform him into a Vampire...a level just a step away from becoming a Blood Demon...A Vampire’s blood grows in vitality over time on its own. It would be just a matter of time for him to become a Blood Demon capable of reviving itself with a drop of blood...by then we wouldn’t be capable of killing him. We’re only letting him reach the Vampire level because his blood is a rare ingredient in alchemy. Once he’s become a Vampire, we’ll suck him dry of his blood, get that Ancient codex and then we’ll call it a day. Well played Kain.”

Kain smiled. He was the short Magus god who had sent the lances to pierce Kyle’s body. He said, “I’ve only followed the events we all saw in the future, but it is true that there were many possibilities to the ghost’s actions. They needed a little push that’s all...and it all worked out in the end.”

The old Magus god then nodded again and said, “Our days cooped up on this little planet are finally over. Once the Ancient Codex is in our hands, we’ll finally have the long lost Teleportation Spell. With us being Seers, we’ll be able to pinpoint exactly the locations of planets with an advanced civilization like ours and conquer them. With all the knowledge we’ll have acquired from the Ancient Codex, we’ll be one step closer to finding the Domain of the Cosmic Gods that our ancestor always talked about...then our destinies will change...we won’t be forced to watch ourselves die by paying the price of seeing into the future. Other Magus Gods live forever but seeing into the future ages our souls until it disperses. Even if it takes tens of thousands of years for us to die, the fact remains that we will eventually die.”

The short man, Kain, self-deprecatingly laughed and said: “ We could stop looking into the future, but how can we? Knowing the future is like a drug that you can’t help but take when you fully know that it will kill you eventually.”

All the Magus gods present turned silent and their expressions turned somber.

I tried to learn as much as I could from their words. Meanwhile, during the time they were talking, Kyle’s body was finally devoid of injuries. The Shadow that was controlling the body had finally opened its dark eyes and seemed to be in a trance. Its pupil seemed to have turned white. It was a weird contrast with the entire black eye where it now seemed that there was a white light inside.

As I was concentrated on the Shadow, I heard it saying, “So that how it is.”

It then stood up and patted its now ragged clothes. It looked up at the Magus Gods floating in the sky with an enigmatic smile. The Shadow looked at Kain and then said, “Kain, right? Maybe I should thank you for sending those lances my way. It gave me time to find out about something funny.”

Kain had a derisive smile plastered on his face as he said, “Shouldn’t you thank your ghost friend instead? He got into a lot of trouble to heal you.”

The Shadow shook its head and then said, “He never needed to help me. I was totally fine without him. There’s no way I would have died from something so small.”

The old Magus god then said, “You can die now. Your blood will help us live a few thousand years more. You can die knowing that you’ve done us a great deed.”

I was afraid that my efforts may have gone to waste.

I watched as sixty-six Magus Gods used the same spell I had just used to steal blood from beasts. With sixty-six Magus gods trying to steal the Shadow’s blood, it had no choice in the matter and no way to fight back.

Before even a drop of blood left the Shadow, they heard it saying, “Darkness Transmutation.”

Two simple words. Following those words, they saw the Shadow in Kyle’s body turn the body into an actual shadow-like being.

Where Kyle’s Body stood was now a being made of darkness. The new being released a black smoke from all over its body.

They heard the Shadow say, “Sorry. Now, there’s no more blood to steal.”

“Prime...Prime Law!”The Old Magus God said in shock.

Kain said, “Yes...the only reason we couldn’t see this new power of his is because it’s a part of a Prime Law. We may be Seers but we can’t see anything on the level of a Prime Law.”

A bulky Magus god then said, “Should I say that we’re in trouble or that we’ll have to work harder?... And how does one go about killing a shadow?”
