《Sun Collector》Chapter #10 A New Hope

That sounded like something I never wanted to do. I thought to myself.

"So are you allowed to explain to me how your ability ring works?" I asked

"Um I probably could but it's on loan from one of the outposts and papa said that it was one of kind," she said while hesitating

"So he doesn't want you to tell anyone about it because its top secret right?" I said

"I can go ask papa if I can tell you. Actually, I better get back before he goes crazy. He gets super mad when I ditch my guards and go out to play." I saw her footsteps imprinted in the ground as she walked away.

"See ya," I said goodbye this time

Id like to think that she turned around and waved as soon as she got to the end of the gravel path. But I knew she would never do that. Would a deep-sea king say goodbye to a piece of kelp?

I knew not to ask about her mother she probably died during childbirth because she was never mentioned.

Another week passed, I had finished the first book and now was on the second. I mostly just lounged around all day reading. It seemed dumb but in order to venture out to an outpost any little bit of information could be valuable.

I considered myself to be in the foundation building stage of my plans.

Without any information or power, I was useless. I was still far behind everybody even after completing both the books. But at least I would know the basics. That everyone who ventured from the sand bar knew.

"Hey mister my papa said I could come back he even prepared a gift for you." a familiar voice said

I want a gift I thought on the inside.

I was acting stupid a gift from a mob boss always came with strings.

"I don't want your gift and I need all my mana little missey so don't get any ideas." I knew where this was going

"Papa made it so I can show myself because he had someone change my appearance with there ability for thirty minutes and after that, I absolutely have to go back," she said

"Don't do it I don't wanna see" I said as I sat up in bed

A young plain-looking girl of average height appeared in front of me.

"Tehe papa told me you would say that and to show myself anyway"

She said

This girl was just a bottomless hole and the more I talked to her the higher likelihood I would end up like my family. I had to set this girl straight.

"Come with me for a second," I said as I walked towards my home she tilted her head but followed. Probably because she'd never seen me leave the light of the mirrors cast. I walked up too the door frame and pointed inside.

"I used to live in there with my family but one day I came home to find that they were all killed by someone in broad daylight and nobody reported a thing. Only someone of your father's power is capable of doing something like that. So do forgive me if I never want anything to do with you.

I heard a sniffle and when I looked back there was nobody there. I saw the dust scatter as she ran out of my yard. She would probably never come back.

That was fine by me, it was fine that's all it was.

I went back to sitting in the sun and reading my book. More time passed, it was two weeks until I was about to leave. I was about to go to bed. My feet were barely lifted off of the ground when an angry voice struck my ear.

"Your planning to leave soon arent you mister?" It was as familiar as it was beautiful.

"Yes, in two weeks I will have to bid you goodbye Q." I said

"Your not free to go is what my papa said to tell you," she said in a shaky voice.

It finally came to the ultimatum. Die by the sword or live by the sun I thought to myself. I knew if I really wasn't free to leave I'd be chained in a cellar somewhere.

"That's what your papa said but what do you think Q. I know you've been here for quite some time or you wouldn't have been able to guess that I'm about to leave." I asked while laying on my back in bed.

"Your a bad man but even bad men shouldn't be tied up. That's why as soon as I knew father's plans I ran to come to find you." She said

"And let me guess your not gonna go home until I leave?" I asked again

"I was going to tell on you if you weren't going to tell me that you were leaving. But I guess you were just being mean last time because you were afraid." She said

"And rightfully so," I said with a small chuckle.
