《Sun Collector》Chapter #11 A Dirty Message

The problem was my ability. I could make a permanently invisible girl.
"Your mana regrowth ring it activates the invisibility. And your dad has to give it back so on your sixteenth birthday you were gonna wish for your ability to be permanent?. I spoke
"Papa says he was gonna have to give the ability ring back when I was old enough." She said
Then he found me and his whole plan changed I thought to myself. If he could jumpstart the latent potential in her body she could get a new ring and use her wish for an ability for something else.
Even I knew he could double his daughters fighting power by attacking a begar. I couldn't blame him for it if I looked at it that way.
"Do you know how much mana you need to jumpstart your heart?" I asked
"Yes, I need two hundred" This time she didn't even mention papa it seems like she was willing to take responsibility for this.
"Let me feel your heart again?" I asked
In a moment I felt a body press against my hand. With a thought, I poured one hundred and ninety-nine mana into her heart.
"That should keep me alive little missey, now we're both free. As long as you don't go home before I leave."
"You just gave me some of your power didn't you?" she asked.
"Let's make a plan so that we can both live happily," I responded. "If you stay here and don't go home I can come up with a plan so that everyone is happy," I asked.
" You got yourself a deal if you sleep on the ground tonight." She said
I nodded and got out of bed and laid on the ground. I needed to think tonight and make a flawless plan.

The night passed without me sleeping but I eventually came up with an idea to get me out of this mess.
I heard a ruffling from my bed "Did you figure it out?" She asked.
"Ya here's the plan when you go home tell your dad that as long as he leaves me alone I will come back to my home before you turn sixteen. Not only will I grant you the invisibility power Ill make you a custom ability ring to go with it. When you go home tell your dad that I told him "he should stake it all on me and he's a coward if he backs out now and if he tries to bully you tell him about the mana in your heart." I said
"Papa isn't a coward so he will definitely agree! I better get going or he might actually do something dumb. I'll come to visit you one last time before I leave if I can." she said
She left.
A week passed and she never showed up, her father must have gone mad I thought to myself. I checked the gains I had made over the two months. My already good physique had grown under my constant exercise to that of a well-trained warrior. Also, my basic knowledge had expanded and I could now tell what plants were edible and what different soul beast habitats looked like. The total amount of mana that I had accumulated was 4,134,
It wasn't two months but I decided to go find an expedition team and enlist. That's right I didn't need a reason for going on an expedition to the mainland. They were always in need of new men because so many people died or stayed in the outpost.
"Hello yes, Id like to enroll for the next expedition team's journey," I said

"You certainly look strong enough, do you have any abilities to register that could be useful to the expedition team. The clerk asked
"Yes, I can make a bright flash and a bang." I figured it would be weird if I enrolled without an ability.
"Young man that's actually a very useful ability." He said
Little did he know that I could only set one off within a foot of my body. But I didn't need to tell him that. He might put me with a better expedition team if he thought I was stronger.
Afterall only half of the expedition teams that set out actually make it to the outpost. Or would it be more appropriate to say that half of the people that set out made it?
"The soonest expedition sets out in two weeks are you sure about your decision?" He asked
"Its something I must do for my family" I technically spoke the truth I thought to myself.
He just handed me a sheet of paper with instructions.
Cool by me, I headed back to my house and fell asleep after memorizing the instructions.
The next day I returned the books to the library and examined my body. I had some discoloration patches on my skin from sitting in the sun for so long. I couldn't use this method again it seemed.
The day of the expedition when I got up. Scrolled into the dirt in front of my bed was "Good Luck"

Bone Dungeon: Book 1 in the Elemental Dungeon Series
Ryan doesn't remember much about his life before becoming a dungeon core. Only that he had a bit of a disagreement with the church -- something to do with a beheading? Some adventurers just deserve a stalactite to the head. But Ryan quickly learns being a darkness dungeon isn't all loot and bone puns. With a necromancer on the rise and the Adventurer's Guild watching his every move, he must prove that not all darkness dungeons are malevolent... even if they do have a few skeletons in their caverns. Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.
