《Yowai - Season 1》Chapter 6 - Island [Part 3]

"What the fuck are you doing here? How did you even get here?" Yowai asks the guy and freezes on the spot for a mere second. He hears a small voice back in his mind whispering "THE SPEED..." to him and wonders. "The hell? What was that voice?" ; "It feels like what I felt in school on the last day when I was around some students... It is damn weird," he then thinks.
The boy doesn't answer and Yowai goes on; "You activated your powers, didn't you?" The guy looks at him surprised and answers "I don't know what that thing was, but how would you know about it, anyway?" In a quick, curious voice. "That is the only way you could get here, idiot," He replies after a short time of thinking. "Well, can you help me get up?" The guy then asks while still lying back in the crater that was made.
Yowai helps him and carries him to his tent. "It is Yowai, right?" He then asks when they arrived there, his body only has some scratches on. Quite surprising he is not even hurt from that crash. "Yeah. You never told me your name though." Yowai tells. "Thought you will never ask... I'm Jinsoku. So, what are you doing in this place all by yourself?" ; "You are alone, right?"
"I am alone, yes. Much as you, I also activated some sort of power so I came here to train myself for it... Do you remember what happened before you crashed here?" He says and opens his bag to take out something for Jinsoku to clean his face with. "Not much, it was too fast for me to realize what was going on." The guy answers then add "The last thing I know, I was running away from home, as always..."
"Then you just crashed on this island? Do you understand how far are we from home? Well, it doesn't matter, actually. We need to find out what your powers are." Yowai says. "I didn't think about it when I talked with him earlier because of the adrenaline I had, but there are more people with powers like me? I thought I was the only one... A strange thing is going on. Need to focus on the situation though." He then thinks. "Wait, you didn't tell me what can you do with your 'powers'," Jinsoku says.
"Oh, me? I can move things with only my will only. I believe it is called 'Telekinesis'." Jinsoku looks really focused on what he says and nods every few words. Yowai then continues "I'm here since the last day of the school, training my powers and body... Anyway, I think I have an idea on what your abilities may be." He says and keeps going "Let's go outside."
The guy nods again and gets out the tent with Yowai, who holds one of his tennis balls in his hands. Yowai stands in front of him, about ten meters away, and tells him "To test my theory, I need you to try and dodge this as quick as possible." In a different tone from usual. Jinsoku then asks "Wait, do you think my powers have something to do with reflexes or something?" Yowai doesn't answer and as Jinsoku finishes his sentence, the tennis ball is flying straight into his face at an extreme speed. It seems like Yowai also figured out how to push objects away, aside from just pulling them.

"Ah? Why is everything slowed down?" Jinsoku thinks. He moves his eyes around and sees that the ball that just a moment ago was almost invisible to see from the velocity it had, is now moving so slow that it looks like someone is dragging it while walking over to Jinsoku's direction.
The boy attempts to move away from the ball's track and he sees that his movement is so fluent, it doesn't feel real. "That stuff is insane! Though now that I dodged it, how do I bring everything back to normal?" The second he thinks that; it all comes back to the usual speed. The ball impacts a rock at the other side of the bay and bounces off to oblivion.
Yowai looks at Jinsoku who just moved a distance of two meters away and made a burst of an air around him in a time that looked like an instant for our boy. He blinks at him for a few seconds then says "So as I thought, you have some super-speed thingy going on. Can you explain what just happened?" Yowai is surprised from the incredible ability Jinsoku showed and waits for a question.
The guy looks at him and thinks about how to explain, then a few seconds later he starts "Well, I didn't really do it on purpose, but I guess my body reacted on his own to the danger and let me perceive everything faster, so I saw the world way slower. I could feel my speed when I moved and it was hard to control, yet it felt like I moved very naturally. A weird experience I would say."
"Oh, I see. My powers worked about the same way before I started training. Although it is still very difficult for me to use them how I want. The only things I can do now is some pulling and pushing of objects, as you saw, and force applying on things such as spoons along with small-objects manipulation." Yowai says then adds "Your ability seems really good though. If I understood correctly how it works, then you need to learn how to control the amount of speed you move at. As well as your capability of actually moving around while using your powers. If you won't, more things like crashing in this island might happen, and you can hurt everyone around you."
"I guess you are right. I have one question though... Is this place what I think it is?" Jinsoku asks. Yowai opens his eyes a bit and smirks then answers "It is. We are on the Hirta island we learned about at school. But unlike you, I came here on purpose, which is training in order to not hurt anyone accidentally, which I sadly already did..." Jinsoku looks down and nods then replies "That is cool, actually. It seems really chill here. I see why you chose to come here." Yowai then looks at the guy and at the bay that is behind himself, and says "Yeah, although we need to find a way to get you out of here now."
Jinsoku seems surprised and says "What do you mean? I thought I am going to stay here alongside you. At least you made it look like that." Yowai quickly changes his glance to Jinsoku and tells him "I did? I simply told you that you need to train your powers. I mean, don't get offended, but I don't really like you and I came to this island so I can be truly alone when I develop the control on my ability."

"I see. If I may say, you do look like you need someone to talk with in my opinion. I always see you alone at school and you don't seem like you want it. By the way, if you worry; my parents won't even notice I am not home as well, and if they do, I can just tell them I need to do something for the school council." Jinsoku answers. He looks at Yowai which has his eyes aimed at the far ground, then he continues "Anyway, when I tried talking with you a few days ago, it didn't feel as you really didn't want to talk with me, but you still threw me off. Is there any reason why you don't like these interactions?"
"Mom, dad, please don't!" Yowai remembers his nightmare, he has a tear falling from his eye while he's still looking at the ground. He wipes it off and answers Jinsoku which looks at him in curiosity "I don't really want to talk about it..." He then lifts his head up and glances at Jinsoku. After a few silent seconds, he adds "It wasn't always like this. But, it doesn't matter now. You can stay here."
"Oh, you changed your mind? That's awesome. Let's go back in the tent, it's a bit cold and my whole shirt is torn off from the impact on the island." Jinsoku says. "Listen, I only packed up stuff for one person, so I don't think we both can live on this." Yowai then claims.
"Hm, I think I have an idea." The boy tells after some moments of thinking about it. He sits down in the tent along with Yowai and explains; "I was in a couple of survival courses when I was younger, so I know how to get my food and such in places and situations like this. I believe you have a fire kit?" he asks. "I do. Thought it will be important." Yowai answers and Jinsoku continues "Great, that will help a lot. Anyway, I saw some wild sheep around when you carried me here earlier. My idea was to hunt them down for some meat if we don't have enough food, and I assume there are plants around that can be eaten."
"It is also a really good additional way to train. We can use our abilities in order to attack the sheep and be physically trained when chasing them and much of that type. What do you think?" Yowai thinks about his question and all that he said, then he replies "It is a good idea, actually. I just ignored the animals around before, but they are doing some annoying sounds so it can also be a nice way of me revenging them as well." He chuckles a bit and Jinsoku looks weirdly at him. "You should eat something, anyway. I already ate my dinner but you look like you didn't." Yowai adds, and he goes to get canned food and some cooked potatoes.
Sometime later, Yowai gave Jinsoku a shirt of his since the one he had got ruined, and they sit down to talk about the plans. Jinsoku looks at Yowai seriously and says "Explain to me what you have got done until now, please." Yowai goes straight into business. "Well, mainly I just wanted to get a sense of control on my powers. Now that I know that there are other people that also got powers, I think a change of plans will be the right thing to do. I also thought that we can mix up our training together sometimes."
"Maybe we can train your object moving along with the pulling and pushing abilities by you lifting up stones and such into the air, then shoot them at me one by one. It will help me as well as I will need to dodge them quickly." Jinsoku asserts, then Yowai answers "It can work. We can do it three times a week and every second Saturday when we are chilling. When I do my training parts that need focus, you can go outside and run on the island, until you get enough control to not crash into things. The island is big enough and you can explore it for the plants you were talking about earlier as well."
"I think we are good to go then. Do you have any more training left for the day?" Jinsoku asks and looks at Yowai. "No. I just finished eating my dinner when you came crashing into the island. I originally planned to do a few more precision practices but to be honest, I am too tired for that." He then replies.
"Oh, okay. We will start tomorrow then I assume. I can sit down and read the schedule in the meanwhile to see if I can change something to be better. By the way, you don't have any other sleeping bag, right?" The guy asks Yowai. "I told you I only planned for me to be here." He answers.
Jinsoku looks around the tent for a second then says "It is alright then, I can just sleep normally and put a bag or something as my pillow." He prepares his sleeping place after Yowai nodded at him and pulled out his manga so he can read a bit before he goes to sleep.
They both lay down to rest for the night and Yowai thinks "It was a long time since I talked with someone this much... Although this dude is still annoying me." The boys turn to their sides and attempt to sleep after a strange day such as this.
"Have a good night, Yowai." Jinsoku lastly says. "Yeah, you too." He answers, and they slumber.
