《Core Microsystem》Chapter 5

“But before we choose your mob and environment type, we have to do the basic setup of your first floor.”
By Amara’s calculations, she would need 1200 to 1500 resources to complete the first floor. So she better start building now, as it would take a while to create a floor that she was proud of. But with the time limit, she had to work fast.
“Before we choose what type of mob and floor environment the first floor will have, you have to do the basics first.”
“So basic floor first, then environment and mob?” Asked Amara, who just wanted to confirm if she heard and understood it correctly.
“Well, then let’s build a basic first room get started.” With that, Amara quickly selected a few low-cost, basic options from the Dungeon Creator. She might only have, right now, 1000 resource coins, but just creating a basic floor is going to cost a bit. But she could go cheap but creative with Nature being so diverse.
Unlike other dungeon openings that she had read about, her dungeon portal led to an unknown underground area. But she could work with this. Amara quickly began digging away through the dirt and rock, carving out a rough pathway. The pathway was about 10 feet across and with an arching ceiling about maybe 20 feet high. She continued tunnelling, a roughly circular pattern that branched off slightly and curving slightly here and there. Amara must have dug about 40 feet worth of tunnels before she stopped.
About 1 foot into the tunnel from the portal, Amara decided to build a door to make the adventurers excited for what’s behind the door. She narrowed the pathway to create a sizeable two-door entrance, like the one you might see in a large cathedral. The door cost about 10 resource coins, leaving her with 890 resource coins left. Amara then spent another 30 points to create a large empty room in the middle of the circular shape that the pathway created.

She kept it basic, as she didn’t know what type of mob and environment she would pick. With a room to summon a mob in, Amara turned to Nyx, who watched her intently.
“So, how do I summon my mobs and environment?”
Nyx gestured to the table with the cards on it and pulled it towards them, so it stood between them. She then picked up the deck of cards and shuffled them. “Have you ever heard of tarot cards?”
“Umm, yes?”
“Well, this is just like this. I will draw three cards, just like how we chose your dungeon type. If you do not like the selection, you can use V Coin’s to redraw another three cards.” As Nyx was explaining this, she was shuffling the deck of cards. Unlike cards in real life, these cards were just plain grey with no markers on them that she could see.
After Nyx finished shuffling, she drew three blank cards.
“Now, this draw will show potential environment types that you could fix to the floor.”
After a couple of seconds, the blank cards started to change into different shapes and colours. The one on the left depicted a sea of moving grass with light brown, light yellow, and light green colours. The middle was light blue with small specks of dark green and grey with small shapes darting in and out. And the one on the right was bright green, yellow, blue and purples with large trees and what looked like … rain? Ya rain.
“Your choices of environment types are grassland, lake, and rainforest. Which one will you choose?”
“Can’t I see my mob options first?”
“No, that will take away from the fun of the unknown. Well, which one are you going to choose?”

Amara took a good look at her options and compared them to each other. The lake option is out for now because adventurers hate water dungeons. The grassland won’t hold a lot of hiding places, and that leaves the rainforest option. The rainforest seemed the best choice for Amara, as it would provide an exciting environment.
“I’ll choose the rainforest option.” With the option chosen, the cards became blank again and were inserted back into the deck.
Nyx grabbed the deck of cards again and started shuffling. After a couple of seconds of shuffling, she drew three cards and placed them on the table again. Just like the environment cards, these cards went from blank to ones depicting types of monsters. Except these ones do not have any colour on them.
“Are these just one type of mob, or does it represent a group?”
“Each of the cards will represent a group of five similar mobs that will either follow a theme or species.”
The card on the left depicted a fish jumping out the water with wings and a halo. The card in the middle showed a walking tree. And the card on the right showed a chicken with flames coming off of it.
Amara studied the cards and started to rule out which ones she would not use. Obviously, the angelic fish card would not probably fit in her current environment. The fire chicken card would also probably not fit with a wet environment like a rainforest. But the walking tree card would probably fit in, and it was the best choice she had, and she did not want to spend V Coins on something that she had already found would best work with the floor she had planned out.
“I’ll choose the walking tree card, the middle one.”
When Amara said those words, the left and right cards disappeared, and the middle one glowed.
Congratulations! You have chosen your floor one environment type and mob type. You have chosen:
Rainforest Environment
Living Plants
While Amara was thinking, Nyx snapped her fingers and another screen popped up. She turned her attention to this screen and read the writing on the screen. It said Mob Characters at the top, and on the lower level of the screen, there were five squares in a line. These squares were filled with a different picture, each with floor one written on the left side of all the pictures.
“Anaphiel, meet your mob types for the first floor.” Nyx said as she gestured to the row of pictures.
