《Core Microsystem》Chapter 6

The Mob Characters screen depicted Amara’s five different mob types that she could use on the first floor. The first box showed a venus fly trap like create. The second showed a tree that could move. The third showed a crawling moss creature with a mouth full of sharp teeth. The fourth was a beautiful purple flower. And the fifth was what looked to be a maple tree seed.

As she was studying the pictures, Nyx’s voice broke through her concentration. “You can click on the pictures to pull up the stats on them.”

“Oh? Okay.” Amara, following Nyx’s suggestion, clicked on the first box, the venus fly trap-looking creature.

McFlytrap

Type: Living Plants

HP: 10

MP: 15

Atk: 2

Def: 1

Unique Traits

The Munchies: If two or more adventurers venture near a McFlytrap, the plant gains a case of the munchies and will try to bite and eat the adventurers.

Weed Wacker: If repeatedly struck by nonlethal damage, the McFlytrap will go into a rage and run after the one that pulled its agro.

Amara, aware of the time counting down, decided to look at her mobs later and finish designing and creating the first floor. She brought down the walls between the long hallway and the large room that she had previously built. There was still a bit of the hallway that she left untouched right after the large doors.

“Are you ready to add the environment now?” Amara jumped in surprise. She had completely forgotten that Nyx was there. She was so caught up in designing her floor.

“I thought I had to create the environment of the floor?”

“Nope. You can automatically insert the environment then change it around later.” With that, Nyx snapped her fingers, and a screen appeared in front of Amara again. The screen asked her if she wanted to insert the rainforest environment, and she agreed.

When Amara agreed to the insert, the empty room and hallway started to change. The room transformed into exactly what she knew rainforests looked like, minus any animals. There were trees, a ton of different types of plants, and small rivers and streams crisscrossing the room.

Amara only changed a couple of things. She made the tree’s a lot thicker and harder to get through. Another change she added was a bigger river crossing through the room.

When she finished with the room, Amara lightened the rainforest environment within the hallway after the door.

The overall changes of the first floor cost about another 600 resource coins, leaving her with 260 resource coins left.

Nyx came over and patted her core. “So, what are you going to do now, Anaphiel?”

“Next, let’s fill the place with mobs and go over how to make a boss.” She figured that it would be an excellent time to create a floor boss after she populated her first floor. Especially since she had to wait for his resources to refill before adding any more details to the floor.

“Anything I should know before I start making mobs?” They were both staring at the Mob Character page, looking at the five images of his available mobs. She selected one of the five images and watched as a single mcflytrap slowly stroll out with its roots acting as its legs.

“As you can already tell, each mob costs a different amount of resource coins to summon.” Amara had already figured that much out. This was definitely one of Nyx’s less helpful statements.

“Mhmm, a moss soldier cost one resource coin a mob, while a treeneedle cost five resource coins. I’m assuming that this is related to their individual strengths?” The gamer in her told her that this was the most logical step. It was like a strategy game. Some units would cost more coins than others. This would tell her how powerful a single unit is. But this wasn’t all-powerful. Less strong mobs can be used to overwhelm adventurers. This would be similar to something from the old world of warcraft game, a tactic called zerging. This gave her ideas about the moss soldier’s.

“You are correct.” Nyx offered her a mischievous smile. “You catching on, but please don’t fill your dungeon mainly with a singular mob type.” Amara knew that Nyx must have caught on with what she wanted to do with the moss soldiers.

“Don’t worry, I won’t create just one mob type.” But that led to another question she had, what did the other mob types do? “Let’s see what the other mobs can do.”

Moss Soldier

Type: Living Plants

HP: 10

MP: 10

Atk: 1

Def: 1

Unique Traits

The Unit: Moss soldiers gain +100% of all stats when in groups of 5 or more.

Spores: The spores from moss soldiers cause a DoT of 1 x lvl damage every 2 seconds for 20 seconds.

“I have a mob with a damage over time effect?” Amara whispered to herself, shaking her head as she tried not to chuckle. With even more anticipation, Amara scanned over her other mobs.

Her Treeneedle’s were treants that were a tank and defence mob. They had the most hp of all the mobs at her disposal, with 50 hp points. On top of that, they had a defence of 5. Their unique ability gave them a taunt that, it wasn’t resisted, would pull agro and force the adventurers to focus their attacks on the treenedles. The tree needles also have a defence. It will create a shield with sharp needles on the front of it with its branches to defend itself with.

Her Hypno’s were flowers that put off a confusion debuff called Disorientation Scent. If adventurers stayed with the proximity of the flower for a minute, allowing the debuff to stack 10 times, the adventurers would contract the Disorientation Scent debuff. This debuff would continuously confuse and disorientate, which would decrease the effectiveness of healing items for 10 minutes. It is not fatal but can be very unfortunate for adventurers.

The Boom Seeds were the most dangerous when it came to pure damage. The 5 point mob had 5 hp, 8 attack, and 5 defence. They would float in the air, and when an adventurer came into a one-meter range, then it would explode. This made them dangerous because they would continue floating in the air as if bobbing in the wind. In certain circumstances, it would release even more seeds that would lock on to nearby adventurers.

After looking over all of her mobs, Amara had a pretty good idea of how she wanted to set up her first floor. Her limit on the number of mobs that she could summon was 100, but she knew that the number would increase as she levelled up. From what she knew of gamers and understanding the genre, Amara could not overwhelm the adventurers early on. As she could scare them away and make them less likely to dive into her dungeon. This scared Amara, as she wanted to be as successful as a dungeon as possible.
