《Core Microsystem》Chapter 4

The moment that Amara said those words, the roulette table disappeared, and her status page changed. She looked over the status page and saw that page instantly updated itself, removing the N/A next to the dungeon type, replacing it with Nature. She had to chuckle about how none descriptive and vague the status page seemed. To Amara, it meant more possibilities, and it would not limit what she wanted to do in the game.

“What’s next, Nyx?”

The fairy looked at her status page and let out a long sigh. “Normally we would start right away in constructing your first floor according to dungeon type. However, since Nature is a type that is so diverse, as it covers both plants and beasts … well, let’s start constructing your first floor before we choose what type of nature mob type this floor is going to be.”

Amara understood that the nature type excomposed many sub-types, potentially resulting in a chance to choose each floor mob.

“That makes sense.” Amara nodded at Nyx’s explanation. She knew that Nyx was a lot more helpful than some of the dungeon helpers she had read about before. “So how do we go about designing the first floor.”

With a smile, Nyx snapped her fingers, and the room changed. They appeared in a vast expanse of land and water. “Why, with the Dungeon Creator, of course.”

“There are a couple of things that you have to do. First, you have to choose where your dungeon is going to be located.”

Amara could see the terrain of a large area that is surprisingly shaped like a … square?

“Why is the terrain shaped like a square?” Asked Amara as she spotted a large forest, sprawling fields, a mountain range with a volcano, a vast ocean with what looked like a couple of extensive reefs, and multiple large islands with smaller islands connected to them. Though there was a grey circle between the ocean and forest that depicted no terrain.

“Every player dungeon core will be situated at a starting point. What you see is an area that is close enough to the starter area that you can choose anywhere, other than the grey area, to place your dungeon.” With that explanation, Nyx motioned with her hand and pulled up another screen for Amara to view. This screen had what looked like the different terrain options within the square. She also noted a piece of writing at the top of the screen, called Dungeon Creator.

As Amara scrolled through the different terrains, she had a question for Nyx. “So I can choose any of these options?” As she was scrolling through, she found a perfect place for her dungeon. It was an island close to the mainland connected by a metre deep sandbank that connected the island to the mainland. It was also far enough from the grey area that it would take a bit for adventurers to come to and from the starting area.

“Correct. You can choose any spot to place your dungeon’s portal location. Usually, this would be done with the dungeon type already chosen. Still, since you chose Nature, it is currently unknown what type of environment or mob you will get.”

With this information, Amara was putting together that the choice she made would very much so affect her life.

“We better hurry this up. We do not have a lot of time yet.” Nyx gestured to the countdown timer, and it showed that only 24 hours were remaining.

She clicked on the island she liked and chose the middle of the island to put her portal on. With her acknowledgement, they were teleported directly to the middle of the island. It was a place that was essentially an island within an island. A perfect spot for a dungeon, if you asked her.

“Now that your dungeon’s location is chosen, it’s time to start building your floors.” The dungeon creator popped up again and pulled her attention to the screen.

“Alright, let’s get our design on.” Joked Amara, much to Nyx’s annoyance, as she rolled her eyes.

The dungeon creator had many options that she could use to design her dungeon. She had free reign to build her dungeon. Amara pulled up the options and saw that she could clear away expanses, add features, create pre-generated rooms and paths, etc., really she had complete and utter free reign in what she wanted each floor to be. There were also sidebars to create and customize shapes, styles, size, colour, etc. and any other feature.

But there was one thing that stopped her in her tracks, there seemed to be a cost of … coins? Coins that had a hammer and wheat depicted on them.

“Say Nyx, what are those coins?”

The coins had a set of numbers on the top right of the screen. It currently showed 1000 with the word Max written next to it.

“The coins that you see are resource coins. Resources are what you use to create everything within your dungeon. Also, you can only summon mobs in rooms generated by resources. Said resources are then converted into resource coins”

“And how do I generate said resources? And how do I increase my max?” This was very pertinent for Amara. As she thought she had free reign, she honestly did not, though. As she had to pay with resource coins to change or add things.

“Good questions. For dungeon core’s, this game, this world, the resources are generated by consuming random materials from within your dungeon and the square area around the player starter area. Your resources would continue to generate until you are at max, then it turns off. When said resource coins are spent, the resource generator will turn on again until it’s full again.”

Hmm, so basically any junk or assorted materials with the square area will be generated into resources, which will then be converted into resource coins. Simply. Not. Really, could the developers make that any more confusing?

“There are three ways that your resource coin capacity can increase. First, increase your Tier. Each time you level up, your maximum amount will increase by 100. Second, would be every time you increase your Rank, the maximum would increase by 1000. And lastly, you could use resources to create silos to hold these resources. This would increase your capacity depending on the type of resource silos.”

Amara made a note in the back of her head to come back to this when she had the chance and resource coins available. Before she could ask any more questions, Nyx continued on speaking.

“Resources will be generated, currently, at a rate of 10 resources per game hour.” Nyx paused as if she was collecting her thoughts.

“But enough of that, let’s choose your mob and assorted environment type.” With a snap of her fingers, a table with a deck of cards appeared. “Well, let’s get started.”
