My heels hit the floor of Axton's office, causing the first floor to go silent. Eyes focus on me and everyone starts acknowledging me.
"Good morning Mrs. McKay."
"Morning ma'am."
"Good morning."
"Nice to see you Mrs. McKay."
"Good morning everyone." I smile at them as I walk towards the elevator. I wasn't going to let my anger ruin their morning. But as soon as I step into the elevator and the doors close, the smile drops off my face. The only thing I could focus on was slapping Axton's perfect face.
I pass my hands through my hair as I stare at my reflection in the doors, my light pink knee high dress fit me perfectly, the fabric was a sample for my upcoming summer line that drops next month. Taking me out my thoughts, the elevator doors open to the very top floor. I step out and make my way towards my husbands office. My steps were fast and manners was forgotten as I push open the doors. My anger surfacing.
"I'm actually going to slap you!" I yell as I walk in. He raises an eyebrow, a smirk on his lips as he watches me stride into his office, yelling. It's only when I see his phone against his ear then I wish I had knocked before entering.
"I'm gonna have to call you back Cyrus." Axton says as he looks at me. I fold my hands and glare at him, well at least I try to. Even though I saw him this morning and even helped him with his tie, I can't help but stare at him, his black suit fits him perfectly, his hair is a little messy and his face, oh God, this man has the face of a devil that makes you feel like hell is the best place for you. Nevermind, he's Axton McKay, he is the devil that makes you feel like hell is the best place for you. He's my devil and he makes hell a lot of fun. He makes it the best place for me.
"Can I help you, Soph?" He asks me leaning into his chair, his eyes moving down my body. All these years and he still has this affect on me. Shut up Sophia, we're mad at him!
"Yes, by jumping off the roof of this building." I snap and he grins.
"I tried once, but this beautiful girl wouldn't let me." He says, getting up and walking towards me. Ugh this man!
"What's wrong baby?" He asks me as he grabs me into his arms.
I take in a deep breathe contemplating if I should yell or not.
"I asked you to book an appointment for us for at the turtle zoo. I called this morning and they said an appointment wasn't made." I mumble.
"I'm sorry Soph, I didn't think-"
"You didn't think she wants to go? Please! If she could get Jace to fill the pool with turtles, you think she wouldn't wanna go to a zoo filled of them?" I sigh, resting my head on his chest.
"Soph...we can book an appointment when we get-"
"No! We can't screw this up too!" I yell. Tears brim my eyes, this whole parenting thing has not been easy. Ten years later and it's only harder.
"I promise we won't screw this up Soph. We've got this, I'll book the appointment right now." He tells me, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

"I hate what happened last year." I mumble as the memories of the twins ninth birthday party flow into my mind. Everything was good, so damn good. Everyone was there, my mom, Axton's parents, Amyra, Jace, Seb and Amanda, the kid's friends, everything was going so well but of course the paparazzi ruined it. They crashed the party just as the kids were cutting the cake, their shutters and flashing lights blinded my kids and the personal party we had was published on every magazine you could get your hands on. It was the first time the kids shut Axton and I out. It was the first time we had to tell our kids that we couldn't protect them from this. It was the first time I questioned myself as a mother.
"Soph." Axton tilts my chin with his finger and forces me to look at him.
"We're trying our best and I promise they'll see that." I nod, not convinced at all.
"I...I don't want to be them." I whisper and he frowns, before pulling me into a hug.
"We're not them baby, we won't be them. Ava and Aiden have only shut us out once, and I can't tell you it won't happen again, because the truth is, it will. They'll scream at us one day and yell and shut us out, but they'll always love us because we're not bad parents Soph, God, I wish I could have raised myself the way I raised Ava and Aiden." He tells me and I realize he's right. We're not bad parents.
"Okay, we can do this. We can plan the best summer trip to make up for it." I tell him and he nods, pressing a kiss to my lips.
--------
"Over the past six weeks, the paprazzi has been a little less intense." My manager speaks. We hired Rosie when the twins were five, it was around that time that we could barely make it out our offices without the paprazzi tailing us. I couldn't go to the supermarket for months.
"So, on this trip, expect the paprazzi to be more intense than you've had to expect in the past few months." Myra scofss next to me as she takes a sip of coffee.
"Paprazzie forecast huh? High flashes and rumbling rukus." She mumbles setting her cup down. I elbow her and hush her to pay attention to Rosie.
"As of your recent activities, Jace, Axton and Kiara will be targeted the most, this is because of Jace and Kiara's previous incident and well..Axton is..well Axton." I turn to Jace and Kiara, they sit opposite from each other and I frown. Jace and Kiara are going through some problems concerning kiara's past and it's been more public than private. My heart tugs for both of them.
"Also, Sophia, your brother and his wife should also look out for waves of attention." Myra snorts, probably remembering her weather joke and I also laugh which makes Axton looks at me like I'm crazy.
"Also remember, you're going to another country, so forget the usual paprazzie, you're going to have locals that are excited about celebrities that are visiting their country." Everyone nods and Rosie starts packing up.
"Any questions-" A phone starts ringing and everybody looks at me.
"It's not mine." I mumble.
"Your clutch is vibrating." Myra says. Jace bursts out laughing and Axton rolls his eyes.
"It's not my phone-"

"It's your phone Soph!" They all say and I frown.
"Bullies." I mumble, taking my of course ringing phone. I see it's Hayley and I quickly excuse myself and walk out the meeting room of my office.
"Hell-"
"Sophia! Hi! You need to get Ava's phone and delete the last Tik Tok she posted!" Confusion laces through me.
"Ava knows better than to post a Tik Tok publically, what's in the Tik Tok?" I ask her. She hesitates for a second.
"She accidently showed sketches of the Winter collection, the sketches were on her desk and it was labeled." She mumbles, probably because she felt like she was doing something wrong by telling me. Hayley and Ava have become as close as sisters.
"I'll take it down from my phone, thanks for letting me know." I tell her.
"Yeah of course."
"See you tomorrow-"
"Soph? You know, you're doing an amazing job with her, I mean come on, the camera didn't shake at all." She chuckles and I smile a slight one, catching her actual message.
"Thanks Hayley." I tell her as the door opens behind me. I end the call and turn around to see Axton.
"Everything okay love?" He asks me and I nod, slowly. But truthfully I don't want him to see me break down over this parenting thing again. I bite the inside of my cheeks to stop me from crying.
"What's wrong?" He asks me as he walks closer. I shake my head and try to walk away from him, but he grabs my wrist and pulls me closer to him.
"What's wrong Soph?"
"Nothing." I say, but my voice breaks at the end, and betrays me and my fake front. Tears fall from my eyes as he pulls me even closer.
"What happened?" He asks and I take in a deep breath, but the feeling of failing as a mother weighs me down. As I unlock my phone and log into her Tik Tok account, tears fall more and more.
"Don't cry baby, it breaks me to see you cry." Axton mumbles, his thumb wiping away my tears.
"Here." I show him the video which has been posted ten minutes ago and has one hundred thousand views already.
"Ava posted a Tik Tok?" He asks stunned.
"But we went over the rules with them." He says and I nod.
"We're failing..we're failing Axton." I break down.
"Sophia, we are not failing. We're just having a difficult time that's all, and that's okay. We aren't parental experts. We may not be doing the absolute best, but we aren't failing, alright?" He asks me, looking me in my eyes and it's at that moment I realize how much he has grown, mentally.
"Okay, we're gonna go home and speak to them about it and see how it goes from there." I tell myself more than him.
---
"Axton, what news can we get about the business this summer?"
"Aiden, do you plan on taking over your father's business?" My God, he's ten.
"Sophia, was Ava punished for posting that Tik Tok yesterday?"
"Where are the McKays going for vacation?"
"Axton, your brother said you haven't spoken to him in years during his interview this morning, what can you say about-" I freeze at the mention of Corbin, so does Axton. He and his brother hasn't been on the best of terms, ever. But the last ten years practically made them strangers. I think at a certain point, Ameila was Axton's only sibling in his mind. To the media however, didn't get that memo.
"Just keep walking." He mumbles to me as his hand rests on the lower half of my back. I nod, gripping Ava's hand.
"Mom, are you trying to mark me?" She asks me, lowly.
"Your mom is good at-"
"Shut up Axton." I mumble as he laughs, I look over at Aiden and he's not having the paprazzie at all.
"Ava, thanks for the sneak peak of Sophia's winter-"
"Thanks for shutting the hell up, now back up before these cameras end up on the floor!" Myra yells as she walks through the sidewalk of cameras.
"Amyra! When are we getting good news?"
"Is it true you're pregnant?"
"Is it true you and Jace had an affair?"
"Amyra did you and Kiara have a fight at Eleanor McKay's party last month?"
I resist the urge to roll my eyes as they throw the most stupidest questions at us. I use to love going to the airport and boarding our private jet, now the little walk from the cars to the jet seems like a marathon and I hate it.
When Amyra gets closer I study her red, puffy eyes. I frown.
"What's wrong?" I ask her as she grabs Ava's hand.
"Take off conversation." She chuckles.
"Where's Jace?" She asks me.
"Where's Jace?" I turn to my right and ask Axton.
"Where Jace?" He asks into his phone.
"Who are you talking to?" I ask.
"Jace." He grins and myra snorts. Idiots.
"Where is he?" Myra asks.
"He's already on the jet." Axton says.
"Well played." I mumble.
Ten minutes later, we're seated in the jet and about to take off. I do a quick scan of the jet, Amyra is working on her laptop, next to Axton. Jace and Kiara are playing a board game, Jake is braiding Ava's hair and Aiden is next to me, reading.
"Excited for Fiji?" I ask him and he nods, his eyes still focused on the book.
"Axton, did you make the appointment?" I ask him and he nods, looking at his laptop.
Like father, like son.
---
"Wow." Ava mumbles as she looks at the view of her bedroom from the beach house.
"Pretty huh?" I ask her.
"So pretty." She says.
"Uh, mom?" I turn to face her, her brown hair flowing with the wind from the window.
"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry about the Tik Tok. I didnt think about my actions and I'm sorry." She says. I walk towards her.
"Ava, it's okay. We all make mistakes because.."
"Because we're humans and no one is perfect. I know. But it doesn't make my actions correct." I frown, but I'm the furthest thing from sad, I'm so happy and proud.
"I'm so proud of you and the person you're becoming." I tell her.
"You've been proud of me since I chose Channel as my favorite brand." She laughs and I do too.
"I love you, Ava." I pull her into a hug.
"I love you too mom."
------
"Did you tell him?" I ask Amyra and she shakes her head.
"Can I kick his ass?" Jace asks.
"Wait, no. Can we kick his ass?" I ask her and she laughs but shakes her head.
"Myra, you've been wanting a kid for so long, just because he gave up that doesn't mean you should too." I tell her.
"Especially now that there is a kid involved." Jace tells her and my eyes focus on her stomach. There's a baby in there. Amyra is pregnant and I'm so fucking happy for her I could hug her, but I don't.
"You don't get it-" Her voice breaks, my eyes meet Jace's eyes and he frowns.
"Did he cheat on you?" I ask. Suddenly a pillow hits my face.
"Dumbass." I glare at Jace.
"No, no. He's just-he doesn't want kids anymore!" She breaks down.
I look at Jace because I have no fucking clue what to do. Maybe she wants water or something?
Soph. That's what she needs.
"I'm going to get Sophia." I tell her but she stops me.
"Sophia is already stressed with the twins, I don't-"
"You better stop that sentence right now. It doesn't matter if we're carrying the weight of this planet, we're always here for you just like how you drop every single thing for us, so shut the fuck up and let us be here for you." I tell her, meaning every word. Her eyes meet mine and she laughs. This crazy bitch laughs.
"Ten years ago, I didnt think you were capable of words like that." She laughs. Jace sits next to her and takes her hand in his.
"We love you Myra." He says.
"God go get Soph you two are cheesy." She laughs and I roll my eyes, but when I turn around, my beautiful wife stands against the door, her eyes glossy.
"What's wrong Soph?"
"Nothing." She whispers, a smile on her lips.
"Nothing is wrong. We're all here, together, years later, and we're still the exact same group." She laughs, but tears fall from her eyes. It's in that moment I realize that anything with Sophia is possible. No matter how much we're given to fail, with her I always gain victory. She's my good luck, she's the other half of my fucking soul and God do I love that woman. I love everything about her. w
Without these three people in this room, I'd be a cold hearted lonely business man with all the money I could ever need, but no happiness at all. But with these three people, I'm a husband, a father, a friend, in a beach house on an island about to make memories with my children just as I did with their mother.
Letting people in can be tough, but when you find the right people, you'll find a home in them.
