《Kings of Hawkings [bxb]》Chapter 7

Travis worked diligently on Jonas' hair, giving him a nice and clean quiff style. The top was still long, but at least stayed out of his grey eyes. It was much different from his old style, but it really fit him. Travis had to sigh while observing his work.
Jonas ran his hair through the top. "Feels nice."
Hugh jumped in front of him and held his chin, moving his face to check out the cut. "Looks sick. You have your ears pierced?" His eyes noticed the small holes on his ear.
When Jonas nodded, Hugh ran into the room and came back with an earring. It was a long chain, very similar to the one he was wearing. He moved close and looped it in Jonas' ear, his fingers brushing on Jonas' neck. Jonas suppressed a satisfied noise escaping from his lips from the touch. But it was getting difficult because Hugh's touches were like electricity.
Jonas ran his hand against the chain now hanging from his ear. "Gifting me jewelry now?"
Hugh winked. "Anything for you sweetheart."
They hung around the table for a while and ate their dinner. It was a peaceful night and Jonas was relieved after learning more about his new friends. Perhaps they would not end up like his last group of friends.
He was contemplating his new situation while lying in bed, his arms behind his head.
"Are you asleep?" Hugh asked from across the room. His position mirrored Jonas'. The lights were out in the room and there was only a soft glow from Jonas' lamp.
"Yup."
Hugh snorted with laughter. "I gotta know... How did Jonas Spencer become the Wolf of St. Vincent's."
Jonas sucked in a breath of cold air and clenched his jaw. Hugh heard the tense noise and sighed lightly. "I don't know what happened in the past. I'm just curious. It doesn't make me change my feelings for you, sweetheart."
Jonas chuckled when he heard the 'sweetheart' part. He normally kept his words concise, even with Travis and the others. But somehow Hugh that made him comfortable. More of himself slipped out.
"How did you figure it out?"
Hugh shrugged. "I may have overheard some teachers."
Jonas sighed. "They're scared of me. Most people are once they realize who I am."
Hugh laughed. "I'm not. I don't see anything scary about you."
"You're not exactly the most normal person."
Hugh grinned under the low light of the lamp. "Mad Dog and the Wolf. I quite like the sound of that. If St. Vincent's knew we were rooming together, they would shit a brick."

Jonas ran his hand through his hair. "They definitely would. I didn't pay too much attention about Hawkings last year for obvious reasons, but I know that you terrorized them as much as I did."
Hugh chuckled. "I only gave them a little of what they deserved. I still feel that it's not enough. Especially now."
"Now?"
Hugh turned and faced Jonas. "You said the story at lunch was bullshit and there were missing pieces. So what did that shithole school do to make you become the Wolf?"
"You're not letting this go." Jonas sighed.
"You can trust me, but I won't force you." Hugh said softly. At that moment, looking into his pure green eyes, Jonas knew he could confide in him.
"My anger got the best of me. Last year, I really almost killed another kid. They all said he was lucky to survive, and I was lucky I wasn't charged with attempted murder. Shit like that changes you and people's impressions of you."
Hugh was quiet for a while. "I don't think you are a person who just snaps. Something made you angry."
Hugh pulled his covers off and got out of the bed. He sauntered over in joggers hanging low on his hips and nudged Jonas. Jonas raised an eyebrow, but moved over. Hugh lifted the covers and crawled into bed with him.
Jonas chuckled. "Seriously?"
Hugh shrugged. "I'm a cuddler." He snuggled up to Jonas and rested his head on Jonas' chest.
Jonas laughed a little. "You're a leech." But he couldn't help but feel good about the situation. Hugh was warm and comfortable. He still felt the electricity and found it pleasant. His arm lowered and rested on Hugh's back.
"So... are you going to tell me?"
"So you are a nosey leech..." Jonas grumbled. After a moment of hesitation he relented. "I went to a party, a big one where everyone but Hawkings was invited. The kid I beat up was a sick bastard. I caught him doing something... unforgivable. I was lucky that I was able to stop him that night, but that rich bastard would never be held accountable for his own actions. He would get away with it. Knowing this, I lost control the next time I saw him. Before I knew it, I was getting pulled off of him and was detained." His voice turned to venom when talking the kid he beat up, but turned to resignation over his violence.
Hugh tightened his arms around Jonas' waist. "Sounds like that guy deserved it."

"You're not frightened?"
Hugh chuckled. "Were those weak assholes frightened?"
Jonas sighed heavily, remembering that one fight. In fact, it shouldn't be called a fight, but a beat down. He was so consumed with rage that the only way he stopped punching that kid, Michael, was when three security guards pulled him off. But his rage was not sated, even with his knuckles throbbing in pain.
The guards called him a feral wolf, the start of his new nickname. And when Jonas looked up to tell them off, he noticed something in their eyes that he never saw before.... unbridled fear. When he examined his surroundings, he saw every face reflecting that fear.
Jonas felt a hand on his cheek, breaking him from his thoughts. "Your mind went somewhere else right now." Hugh said quietly.
Jonas sighed again, and looked into the comforting green eyes. "It wasn't my finest moment, but yeah, they were frightened."
Hugh's fingers brushed Jonas' jawline, making Jonas shiver a little. "They were bitches, but I'm a goddamn King. You won't scare me off that easily. Besides, I like wolves."
They stayed in this position for a while and Jonas started to subconsciously rub small circles on Hugh's back. Hugh let out a small hum of satisfaction, making Jonas feel a sense of delight.
"I have another question." Hugh said. "Why didn't you update your social media after the one post?"
Jonas's chuckle became a genuine laugh, making Hugh sit up suddenly and look down at Jonas with surprise. "Damn, sweetheart. You need to stop hiding those laughs from me."
"Get back down here." Jonas said and grabbed Hugh's arm and forced him to tumble back on top of Jonas' chest. Hugh laughed and nuzzled Jonas, making a growl rumble in his throat.
Hugh's breath hitched when he heard the sound. "That was hot." He said quietly.
Jonas started to rub his back again, letting the feeling of holding someone like this sink in. He enjoyed it, more than before, even more than Emilia. His mind told him that it was too fast to feel at ease like this with another person, but everything else inside of him told him to accept it. And he did. This was right.
Hugh was contemplating the same thought. He was closed off from the others for a while, even though they were friends. But he felt something more with Jonas. And he relished the thought that Jonas was exposing small glimpses of himself only around him. Also, Jonas didn't seemed to be uncomfortable with their closeness. Hugh was normally not this clingy, but he felt a desire to always be touching him. He had been anticipating Jonas pushing him away and setting up boundaries, but Jonas only accepted him.
"You should totally post something. Something outrageous like 'Woof woof, bitches'." Hugh said again.
"Woof woof, bitches? Seriously?" Jonas said with a laugh. Jonas reached out and grabbed his phone that was laying behind Hugh. He opened it and started to download the right app. His arm still holding on to Hugh the whole time.
He signed in with his credentials and cursed. The notification bell showed 999+ notifications. "It's only been a few months."
He had the phone visible to both of them and they read through the notifications. Most of them were new followers, but there were a lot of post that he was tagged in.

*New Post:
He and Hugh started laughing like crazy, but were silenced by the notifications piling up. His post was being re-posted and shared. His followers increased by another couple of hundreds.
"Holy shit." Jonas whispered.
A scream ricocheted in their dorm. "HE POSTED!"
Hugh laughed. "Looks like Travis found your post." Jonas shifted a little to move his phone to the desk, which made Hugh turn and look at the lamp.
He smiled a little. "Your light is interesting. Scared of the dark?"
Hugh was caught off guard when Jonas tensed under him. How could the Wolf, the infamous legend of St. Vincent's be scared of the dark?
"Didn't you see the books I read?" Jonas said with a strained laugh. His body was still tense.
Hugh grabbed onto Jonas' waist and pulled him even closer. "I like it. Mood lighting." He nuzzled Jonas' chest again and started to breathe deeply.
Jonas looked down at the silver haired man in his arms. He had never been with a man before, only women. But that was because he never felt he could explore his sexuality under the thumb of his father. He liked women, sure, and found some men attractive. But no one made him shiver like Hugh.
Hugh's breathing was getting heavier, but he mumbled out "I would never be scared of you, Jo."
He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and closed his eyes. "Thank you."

The Hopeful Project

[Writathon Participant] People read this far? What are you doing down here? Escape! The chapter buttons are over there, stop reading this. No? Fine. This book is an excuse to put a world I spent around 3-4 months of my life building over the pandemic into writing. I was planning on doing the writathon last year, but somehow managed to confuse October and November. Dont laugh, I'm already ashamed enough. This book is about a pair of twins, doing twin things: calling each other names, going to school, learning how to use their blood to become unstoppable, juggernaut, killing machines... You know, twin stuff. It's like if someone stuffed a school arc inside of a tournament arc inside of a war arc. A good time, basically. I hope you enjoy it.
