《Undeniably Claimed》Chapter 5: Encounter

Luca sat back in his desk still reeling over Marcus' discovery. It's been a day since then and his meeting was tomorrow with the company. He still hadn't decided how he wanted to handle it. He called his father yesterday evening and spoke to him about it. His father said to give them hell. This is the first company that was willing to try such an underhand move on him. He is fully aware it won't be the last.
Rubbing his eyes, he can't help but sigh at the amount of papers on my desk. Looking around the office, Luca feels a bit overwhelmed. How his father ever did this is is still questionable. Actually scratch that, he had his mom. That is the only way he could have done all of this. Luca's dad, Xavier Sanford, was a lot of things but the love he showed for my mother was unparalleled. Luca has never seen someone so devoted as his parents were.
Knock Knock
Pulling him from his thoughts, Luca runs his hand through his unruly curls as the door flies open to the office. A smile makes it's way to his face. Getting up from the chair, he walks over to embrace his beautiful aunt.
"How's my favorite nephew been?"
"I'm trying to imagine how my dad did this for so many years..."
His beautiful aunt smirks at him as she looks around the office. She walks over to sit down in a chair near the window and Luca follows suit. She looks out overlooking the city below.
"You know the answer to that Luca. He had your mom."
"Aunt Cami, I'm afraid to fail. I'm afraid I will never find it."
His relationships with females are far and few in between. He can't find anyone who doesn't have an agenda and after some time just gave up looking. He wants what his parents have. A balance. His mother is strong and fierce when she needs to be but she is her father's serenity. His dad was hot headed but was also the only one able to stop his mother from committing murder if it called for it.
Cami looked to him with a small smile tugging at her lips. He knew that look all to well. Growing up, she would get this look before she would go into a speech that eventually give him an epiphany... Now he just had to wait.
"Do you remember how your mom came to meet you?"
He chuckled and dropped his head recalling the memory. "Of course, she saved me."
"Your mother, whom you never met before, dove off a pier to rescue a boy who would eventually become so much more to her. She didn't hesitate that day because she knew what was right."
"Well she looked at me like no one else ever did. I felt.. wanted."
He answered honestly recalling that day like it was yesterday. He may have been a kid but he knew with one look how much she cared and that look... he will never forget.

"Your mother is a handful and never had it easy. She went through a lot but she never gave up. Between your father and you... she fought to survive."
"What's your point Cam?"
She gripped his hand making him lock his eyes with her.
"Nothing truly worth having ever comes easy. Waiting and grasping it when it comes is most important. You aren't going to fail Luca. You just need your stabilizer."
He scoffed standing up going to stand at the window looking down. His hand running through his hair.
"You make it sound so easy. Do you not remember what you use to tell me about Uncle Theo?"
"Every relationship is different Luca. Yes, your mother and father are equalizers while your uncle and I... well we're like gasoline and a match."
He laughed turning back to see a grin on her lips. She stood up walking to stand beside him. They both turn back looking down the city they have come to love.
"Just wait, I think your perfect match is closer than you think."
He turns a side eye to his loving god mother.
"You truly believe that don't you?"
"I know it."
She turns and hugs him before sitting down something on his desk. He glances over to see a letter on his desk.
"Aunt, what is-"
"Nicholas wrote you before..."
She gets quiet and releases a shaky breath. Luca feels his mood gloom. It has only been 9 months since the news of his death. After 4 tours, the gods finally called him home. He died a hero rescuing his team from a bomb that claimed him. Aunt Cami couldn't stand to talk about it for months and he knows how much she looked up to her older brother. She sniffs and straightens her spine before walking out of his office.
"Love you Luca"
"Love you too Cam"
His words gentle as she leaves his office. He walks over to his desk looking at the letter. Nicholas became his confidant growing up. Always causing mischief but mostly learning a lot about military. Nicholas took him onto his base and taught him how to shoot or the necessaries of hand to hand combat. His mother nearly ripped his uncle a new one when she found out about their fights.
Not having the heart to read it just yet, he slides it into his desk... His hand rubbing over the surface of the desk before ringing his intercom.
"Fletcher, come in here please."
A minute later, the door opens and his assistant Fletcher walks in with his tablet in hand.
"Tell me my schedule for the day please."
"You have..."
His voice trails off while Luca continues to try listening. That is until a commotion outside makes them both turn around. He gets up from his desk and walks out to find Cami kneeling picking up papers that are scattered everywhere.

"Ms. Andrews!"
Fletcher says in an accusing tone. That is when Luca notices beside Cami is a small petite figure. Her body is bent and she is trying to hastily pick up the papers. Cami shoots his assistant a nasty glare which instantly shuts him up. Going over, Luca bend down to help as the woman stands up trying to straighten herself.
Looking into her eyes, he becomes hypnotized. She has emerald eyes that stand out against her vibrant auburn hair. She was beautiful. She had freckles coating her face and no make up to be seen. She was naturally a sight to behold. Luca couldn't tear my eyes away from her even as he saw the fear in her eyes. She dropped her gaze and Luca didn't care for it.
"Are you okay?"
She nods her head but refuses to lift it. Handing her the paper in his hand, she takes it with shaky hands. My girl is terrified. Luca goes to speak but she quickly takes the papers and runs into the elevator. Her eyes locking with his for another minute before the doors close on us. His eyes continue staring at the door trying to process what just happened. A chuckle brings me back and makes me look over to my Aunt.
"Told you"
He turns back to Fletcher who is shaking his head like a disproving parent. Luca comes to stand toe to toe with him. Fletcher still looks like he did nothing wrong which irked Luca.
"Let's make something perfectly clear. No one is above another in this office besides me. I will not tolerate you terrifying another associate. Are. We. Clear?"
Fletcher than straightens himself realizing he pissed off his boss. He drops his head in submission, "Yes sir."
Turning back around, he finds his aunt standing with crossed arms and a smirk on her lips. "What?"
"Oh nothing." Cami fakes innocence turning back to the elevator. "Want to walk with me?"
Luca goes and presses the button standing beside his aunt who is still grinning at the doors like the cat that got the canary. Fletcher has already went back to his desk leaving them alone. "I've seen that grin before aunt. What are you thinking?"
"Nothing" Cami says in a wistful tone.
They step on the elevator and Cami is quick to push a level. Luca doesn't pay attention and waits beside his aunt. The dinging of the elevator makes him look to realize they are not on the ground level. "Cam, what-"
She doesn't wait as she steps out and begins walking as her eyes continue to wander around. Luca walking behind her wondering what she is doing. "Aunt, this isn't the ground level."
"Thank you nephew for that accurate observation... Ahh"
Luca looks up in the direction Cami is looking to find the red head that just scrambled away from him. He goes to stop Cami but his aunt is quick and walks towards her. Walking through the first office that conjoins to the red hair's beauty. He realizes he is in the finance department. The brunette behind the desk does a double take before quickly standing up.
"Mr. Sanford." She seems baffled by his presence. "What can I help you with?"
"Actually dear, we just need to go in there." Cami speaks up pointing to the head of finance's office.
Not waiting for an answer, Cami strolls into the office like she owns it. The red head trying to put the papers back in order on the desk before her head snaps up to them. Her large emerald eyes showing her shock and slight fear. He stands back as Cami strolls right to her.
"Hi dear, we didn't have a proper introduction. I am Cami Colton."
"Nice to meet you Mrs. Colton" Her soft voice speaks gently in the room. Luca's blood running faster hearing her voice.
"Please, call me Cami or Cam"
The beauty smiles nodding before her eyes drift back to Luca. He comes stepping forward outstretching his hand. She looks down at it before looking back in his eyes. He waits as she looks deep into his eyes as if searching his soul. She raises her hand slowly placing it in his palm.
"Luca Sanford"
"Sophia Andrews"
It clicks! This is the woman who discovered the faults in the contract. Why did Marcus say she was temporary? Didn't she run this department? Wait a minute, why would head of finance being working with his contracts? A cough pulled him back as he whipped his head to his aunt who gestured to in front of him. He looked down realizing he was still holding her hand while he was deep in his thoughts.
"You are the one who discovered the conflicts with Stonewall Inc."
"Yes sir"
He cringed hearing her call him that. It wasn't that he hasn't been referred to as 'sir' before. He just didn't like the way it sounded coming from her.
"Please call me Luca"
He didn't even think as he said it. It got quiet in the room so he turned to his aunt who was smiling widely before turning back to the beauty before him. Her eyes were wide in surprise as she blinked not sure how to react.
"Well..." Both turn to Cami, "I just got a text from my husband... I got to go Luca."
"Cami your phone didn't even ring." He says to her retreating back.
"Silent mode, love you!"
With that she disappears and Luca takes a deep inhale clearly understanding what his 'god mother' is trying to do. He turns back to the confused looking red head. She was stunning. He chuckles lowly making her smile gently. The view a work of art in his eyes.
"It's nice to meet you Sophia. May we talk?"
