《Undeniably Claimed》Chapter 6: Meeting the Boss

Sophia counted as the elevator continued to rise. After she left the office yesterday, she spoke to Jessica about what she found and her sister said she needed to talk to the CEO first thing in the morning. After a lot of debating about whether or not she should, she decided to take her sisters advice. The only problem now is she remembers Taylor's words about the boss. What if he gets upset with her for running this diagnostic on prior checks? Or worse, didn't believe her findings and threatened Jessica's job?! Shaking her head she rids her mind of those thoughts.

Arriving at the office today, she was happy that Taylor didn't bring up the incident from yesterday. She greeted her and spoke to her about her list of work for the day. Sophia can see that she had a groove of how to efficiently do her job and was impressed. It will be lunch time in about an hour and she just wanted to do this before she lost her nerve. The elevator dinged signaling she has arrived at the floor. Taking a deep inhale and releasing slowly she steps out. The floor was vacant aside from many meeting rooms. She steps forward and begins hearing vigorous typing. Walking to the tall desk, she finds the man from the elevator yesterday, Fletcher.

"Excuse me?"

He looks up and he smirks standing up leaning over the top of his desk towards her. Sophia unconsciously steps back giving a tight lip smile. His eyes then travel down her form making her skin crawl.

"How can I help Ms. Andrews?"

His attempts at a seductive tone come out like a frat boy trying to hard. Sophia has to stop herself from gagging at his tone instead she clears her throat holding the folder close to her.

"Is Mr. Sanford available?"

Fletcher raises a brow at her clearly confused on what she is doing here. "For what?"

Sophia isn't willing to tell this man anything. He looked like a snake and slithered like one. Giving a polite smile, "It won't take much of his time."

"Well sorry Jessica but he is with someone... you could wait with me"

His suggestive tone made her shiver but not in pleasure. He saw her reaction and smirked thinking he was getting the upper hand. He slinks around the counter and begins walking to her. Sophia backs up as the door to the closed office door opens. Both turn looking to seeing a beautiful dark woman walks out raising a brow to Fletcher. Her attention then turns to Sophia. Feeling like she is in trouble, her breathing comes out heavy as she turns to leave.

"Fletcher come in here, please"

She goes to the elevator as Fletcher walks to the big door the woman just came out of. Hitting the elevator button, she doesn't look back but can feel the unknown woman come to stand beside her before glancing at her.

"Are you new here?"

Not wanting to be rude, she turns to the woman giving her a subtle head nod. "Yes ma'am, I am here temporarily."

The woman hums to her response before reaching her hand out to Sophia. "It's wonderful to meet you..."

Sophia reaches to shake but drops the folder in the process. Making her fall to her knees to gather the papers. Grumbling under her breath as the doors behind them open again.

"Ms. Andrews!"

Disregarding Fletcher's accusing tone, she gathers the papers as another hand comes over to her. She looks to the dark hair and dark eyes of the woman who gives her a small smile. Sophia returns it while reaching for the papers. A hand shoots out to the papers that doesn't belong the woman. She takes the paper not even looking before straightening herself upright. Raising her gaze to the newcomer, she gets awestruck. The man was down right gorgeous. His dark hair was in messy curls longer than most short hair cuts she has seen. He has a strong jaw that is covered in slight stubble which she believes only enhances his look. The most striking feature has to be his ice blue eyes. They are looking directly at her making her breathing stop. Fuck me! Is this the CEO Taylor mentioned?!? She drops her head quickly not wanting to seem like she is staring.

"Are you okay?"

Sophia had to resist the urge to clench her thighs. His voice was the definition of sultry. Feeling herself getting tongue tied, she nods her head answering him. His eyes still studying her making her nervous. She takes the paper in his hand as the elevator opens. Sophia moves quickly going into the elevator turning back to see his eyes still locked on her. As the elevator door closes, she can't look away. After what seemed to be minutes, the door close and Sophia slacks against the wall of the elevator bringing her hand to her chest feeling it race below her palm. Jesus...

She briskly walks back to her office passing a confused looking Taylor. She smiles tightly before bypassing her desk going back to her desk. She places the folder down on her desk before bringing her hand to her chest rubbing it trying to calm her nerves. Never has someone struck her like the unknown man. She made a decision right there that she would need to avoid him. She can't be feeling like this all the time, her body would collapse.

Walking around her desk, she begins straightening the folder up before securing it back in her desk. She then finds all the notes and contracts she has been working on all sprawled out and begins straightening them up. Hearing foot steps, she lifts her gaze expecting Taylor but feels her blood freeze seeing the woman from upstairs followed by the unknown man. His ice eyes locking with hers again. The woman comes to step forward making her tear her gaze away from him directly to her.

"Hi dear, we didn't have a proper introduction. I am Cami Colton."

"Nice to meet you Mrs. Colton" Sophia says politely trying to focus on the woman.

The woman grins, "Please call me Cami or Cam."

Sophia smiles nodding before her gaze drifts to the man. He walks forward with an outstretched hand towards her. She looks from his face to his hand before going back to his eyes again. Looking deep in his eyes as if for any signs of malicious but finds none. She slowly reaches out to take his hand and feels the warmth of his hand seep into her own.

"Luca Sanford"

"Sophia Andrews"

This is the bloody CEO?!? Why couldn't he be a balding aging old man with a pop belly? Cursing her train of thoughts she realizes that he is still holding her hand as he seems deep in thought as he gazes at her. She looks to the woman who is smiling gently before she coughs making Mr. Sanford blink turning to her. Cami then gazes down at their conjoined hands making the man look as well. He pulls his hand back seeming to understand he was holding it to long.

"You are the one who discovered the conflicts with Stonewall Inc."

"Yes sir"

"Please call me Luca"

Sophia's eyes go wide not expecting that. The boss is wanting her to use an unformal name. She wasn't sure if that was of the norm. Actually she knew it wasn't. Brad and Taylor always refer to him as Mr. Sanford.

"Well..." Both turn to Cami, "I just got a text from my husband... I got to go Luca."

"Cami your phone didn't even ring."

"Silent mode, love you!"

Sophia watches on with furrowed brows by the woman before a chuckle brings her back to the man in her office. The chuckle makes her smile in return. His eyes looking at her as he does so.

"It's nice to meet you Sophia. May we talk?"

Sophia nods her head turning to the door where she finds Taylor standing to gently close her door. Realizing she is in office alone with the CEO makes her become stiff again. She takes a seat as he sits in front of her. His eyes once again zeroing in on her. Unlike with Fletcher, she doesn't feel disgusted by his gaze. He appears to be searching for something rather than raking her figure.

"I wanted to meet you to thank you for your discovery with Stonewall Inc."

Sophia ducks her head not sure what to say. She didn't want to get Brad in trouble. "Thank you sir"

"Again, it's Luca"

She bites her lip not wanting to be rude. He clears his throat and she glances up to find his eyes locked on her lip that is still between her teeth. She slowly releases it making his eyes snap up to hers. Deciding now would be as good as time as any, she reaches in her desk taking out the folder with the total of sixteen documented signatures that were found to be false. She taps her finger on the folder before looking up to the man. He raises a brow glancing to the folder. Trusting her gut, she hands over the folder to him. He takes it with furrowed brows before opening it. Sophia remains silent as he begins paging through them. His eyes turning hard as his jaw locks.

"What-"

"Please don't be mad" Sophia cuts in terrified he was mad at her.

The room goes silent as she looks to the ground. A moment passes before she feels fingers under her chin. Her eyes snapping to his now. She didn't even hear him get up. His eyes holding concern. "You are not in trouble Sophia."

Sophia nods her head against his fingers. He slowly retracts them still gazing at her. Sophia felt like she was in a trance looking into the depths of his blue orbs. He slowly sat back down looking into the folder again.

"How did you find these Sophia?"

"I was running an algorithm for the paychecks when I noticed that your handwriting changed on certain checks. So I ran a formula for abnormalities and these was ones were pinged."

Sophia sits there quietly as his grip on the folder becomes tighter. She can tell this was not to his knowledge and in that moment was happy she listened to her sister. After a few more minutes he closes the folder and turns his gaze to her. She looks back for a moment before it becomes to intense and drops her gaze to the desk.

"Thank you Sophia"

Not expecting that, her eyes snap open wide looking back up at him. Taking a closer look, she finds a man that looks like the earth rest on his shoulders. He appears to be around her age but the way he carries himself, he could easily be a decade older. She gives him a gentle smile and a head nod in recognition. He slacks back in the chair looking out her window. His mind appears to be elsewhere now. Sophia couldn't look away from him even as he appear to be lost.

"I was about to head out to lunch Mr. Sanford... Would you like to join?"

Not sure why she asked but she couldn't help but feel like he needed to get away. His eyes snapped back to her as stood up gathering her jacket before putting it on. She could feel his stare but continued getting ready. After getting her purse she turned back to him expectedly. The corners of his lips pull up as he nods standing up. Feeling happy she asked, she smiles walking towards her door. He is quick and opens it making her internally swoon. Taylor must have already left so she walks to the elevator with her CEO in tow. Trying to not think about that, she pushes the elevator button waiting for it to arrive. When the doors open, she feels a soft touch to the base of her back making her body warm.

Her last thought as the elevator door closes...

"What have I gotten myself into?"
