《Dads Best Friend》Chapter 18

My dad immediately get up to get a flash light because there is absolutely no light coming through the windows.
It is pitch black dark.
Once he gets the two flashlights off the coffee table he throws one to Archer who almost doesn't catch it.
My dad goes into the kitchen to make sure my mom is ok and the food is almost done.
I turn to Archer to see his hands shaking and him breathing heavy.
My eyebrows scrunch together.
"You ok?"
He nods his head but doesn't say anything.
Before I get to ask what is really wrong with him my dad comes into the living area saying something about seeing if there is a generator somewhere in the house that might work to help keep the fridge cool.
Me and Archer gets up off the couch to go roam around up stairs and look for the generator, while my dad put on a big rain coat so he can go look In The shed out back.
I start to head up stairs first because it seems if I don't we will be standing in front of the couch all day.
I head toward the stairs but stop.
Turning around I bump into Archer since he is literally up my ass.
Before I fall backwards two hands catch around my waist and pull me into his hard chest.
"Shit, I'm sorry"
He releases me reluctantly and steps back a little but not to far.
"It's fine I was just going to check the closet that's down here before heading up stairs."
He nods his head but still doesn't make no move to head over toward the closet first.
Rolling my eyes I head to the closet and shine the flashlight into the little room.
Not seeing anything but a vacuum and a broom I shut the door and head up stairs.

Archer is so close behind me I'm surprised he hasn't stepped on the back of my feet.
We head up stair and I open the first door on the right which is the laundry room.
Nope nothing!
Walking back out I have to wait for Archer to take some measured steps backward so I can leave the room.
What is wrong with him.
Is he afraid of the dark?
We continue to check the last couple of doors which is the bathroom and another closet.
Before we head back down the stairs I grip Archers shaky hands and pulling him into our room.
Closing the door behind me I look up to see Archer staring down at me.
"Ok, what's wrong with you. Why is your hands shaking."
He doesn't say anything but just shakes his head.
He's about to open his mouth until I give him a glare.
"I swear to god if you say I'm fine."
Immediately his mouth snaps shut.
"Come on tell me. Are you scared of the dark because You have been up my ass since the light have cut off."
He gulps but still doesn't say anything.
"It's ok if you are, I just want to know."
He finally nods his head.
I give him a small smile glad that he told me.
Stepping forward I wrap my arms around his waist and pull him in for a hug.
Automatically he pulls me into him like if he didn't he would lose me forever.
"It's ok to be afraid of the dark. Everybody's afraid of something."
"I know, it just makes me feel week." He whispers
"You are the most strongest person I know." I say looking up at him. "Always remember that."
He nods his head and take deep breaths.

"Is there anything that you need from me?"
His eyes drop down to my lips but instantly pops back to my eyes.
"Nah sweetheart, as long as you're close to me I think I will be ok."
I nod my head
"Ok, then let's go back down stairs before they come looking for us."
I take his hand in mine and head out of our room and down the stairs.
Before we get to the bottom we let go hands but he places his hand on the small of my back.
I don't see anybody in the living room so we head over toward the kitchen seeing mom platting the food.
"Had dad come back in yet?" I ask mom
"Yeah he is our room, the coat barely did anything . He still got drenched."
As she said that my dad came walking out of their room with a towel scrubbing through his hair.
"Did you find anything?" I ask
"Nope, did you?"
I shake my head and walk over to the couch.
Of course Archer follows and sits right beside me.
My mom bring out our plates which has a hamburger with some fries.
Yummy!
Everybody gets settled and eats their food while talking about random things.
Archer doesn't talk that much through out the meal.
I can tell he is still afraid but a lot less than he was a couple hours ago.
Once we get done eating I go help my mom wash dishes while dad and Archer talk back and forth.
Once I step back into the living room I see
Archers hands furiously shaking under his thigh.
I quickly sit back in my seat and pull my lap top out my book bag that was beside the couch.
"I have full charge on my computer, why don't we watch some Netflix?"
Everybody agrees so I set the computer on the coffee table where everybody can see the screen and press play on clue.
While we watch the movie and since its really dark except the computer screen, I very discreetly place my hand in Archer and start to rub small circles on the back of his hand to help him stop shaking.
He lets out a sigh of relief and settles more into the coach.
