《The Mafia Man's Girl》Chapter 11: James

Arya's POV -

I wake up under something soft.

So comfy and warm.

I snuggle deeper into the warmth, sighing contently.

But then my eyes shoot open, and I fly up with a gasp.

I scan around the room I'm in frantically, desperately.

I realize I'm in a modern looking bedroom. It's mostly black. The bed is black, drawers are black, the only light coming from the small windows.

My heart pounds nervously as I try to recall last nights events.

My head slightly hurts, but I reluctantly get out of the cozy bed, placing my feet on the brown, cold tile.

I shiver slightly from the cold, and I try to listen for any movements outside the closed door, but I'm met with silence.

Scratching my head, my hands get stuck in my hair making my jaw drop.

I don't even want to know what I look like.

Taking a deep breath, I get up and shiver a bit more before slowly making my way to the door.

Grabbing the doorknob and twisting slowly, I open the door and peek outside, only to be met with silence once again.

This place looks fancy.

I open the door the rest of the way and pad my way forward and away from the door. I could either go left or right, and I had no idea if I was upstairs or down.

I decide to go right, trying to be as quiet as possible.

I find a set of stairs, and I can hear voices coming from downstairs. I try to look over the railing to see whose there, but I can only hear the voices.

I bite my lip and tiptoe down the stairs, desperate to not make any noise.

Reaching the bottom, I sigh once I've made it down safely.

I head towards the source of the voices, I could hear more than one, and they seemed to be speaking Italian.

I then get a whiff of an amazing scent. Someones cooking.

Glancing at the kitchen, I see two large figures with their back faced towards me conversing.

One I instantly recognize, with messy pitch black hair and tattoos decorating his neck, I instantly know It's Rome.

Relief fills me once I recognize him, knowing I'm safe with the man.

My nervous eyes then look at the second man. He's a bit shorter than Rome, but still huge.

He has dark blonde hair looking from the back, and I can see he's muscular as well, but definitely not as much as the man I've come to adore.

I watch as the blonde man makes his way over to the stove, flipping something on top of it while Rome watches him in silence.

Swallowing, I decide to make myself known before I'm caught. I don't know how many people are here.

"R-Rome..." I whisper, trying to get his attention without catching the blonde man's as well.

He doesn't hear me, so I try again,

"Rome." I say louder, which unfortunately is loud enough for both of them.

They both turn to me at the same time, warm green eyes, and dark blue ones.

I bite my lip and shuffle on my feet nervously as I watch Rome's eyes widen slightly before returning to normal. He rushes to me and I'm embraced by a hug by him.

My breathing hitches.

He's hugging me.

He's hugging me.

He chose to hug me.

I quickly wrap my arms around his torso, squashing myself into his body as much as possible.

I inhale his masculine scent that instantly soothes me. I cuddle closer to him.

"Arya..." He whispers, holding me tightly.

"Quella è la principessa, vero?" I hear from in front of me.

(That's the princess, yes?)

There's silence before Rome gruffly replies,

"Sì, questa è lei."

(Yes, this is her.)

There's more silence.

"Carina." The blonde replies.

(Cute.)

Rome pulls away, but I keep holding onto him tightly.

I feel his hand run through my hair, trying to detangle my curls.

"Don't do that, It's messy." I whine to which he chuckles.

Rome turns back to his friend, and I finally glance at him.

He's staring at me silently, calculating, trying to decipher something.

His blonde hair is messy, kind of like Rome's, but his eyes are a deep ocean blue.

One piercing is above his right eyebrow.

But then, to my surprise, he gives me a smile.

"Hello princess, I'm James. Rome's best friend."

I blush at the name he gave me. I was certainly no princess...

"H-Hi, I'm Arya..." I reply quietly, earning a chuckle from him.

He didn't seem mean. He seemed...nice.

I turn back to Rome, my big eyes staring at him, "What happened last night? I can barely remember."

Rome's eyes turn dark as he glances down at me for a split second before looking back at James.

I do as well, watching as James' jaw clenches for a second before he turns to the stove.

"How about you eat first, and then we'll talk, okay?" He replies and I automatically nod.

He guides me to an island chair and I gratefully sit.

James turns to us with a plate of...I don't know what.

He must of seen my look of confusion, "They're crepes, ever had one?" I shake my head and he gasps dramatically.

"How?! They're so good, they're going to be your new favorite." He says placing a few plates on the table.

I giggle at his dramatics, and he smiles before placing a "crepe" on a plate and sliding it over to me.

My eyebrows raise at the size, It's quite big...

I was unsure on how to eat it, but before I could think of a way, arms raise on either side of me.

My mouth parts slightly as I watch the arms hold a knife and fork, beginning to cut the crepe into bite-sized pieces.

My entire face is red once I realize the situation. Rome was standing behind me, hovering as he cut up my food for me.

Now I'm embarrassed.

After about a minute, the entire crepe is cut up, and I can see chocolate and strawberries inside of it with some sort of white powder.

My stomach rumbles, which only adds to my embarrassment.

Rome chuckles, "Good?"

I nod quickly and grab my fork, poking a piece of the crepe onto it and place it in my mouth.

My eyes widen at the delicious taste, and I'm quickly poking another piece and eating it.

Rome sits next to me, his own crepe on his place as James sits across from us with one as well.

We eat in silence, but I didn't mind. The crepe was so good! I could eat these all day. Why have I never known about them?

"James?" I murmur making the said man look at me.

"Did you make this?!" I question and he smiles before nodding, "Yes, It's the only thing I know how to make. I'm an awful cook."

"There's no way your a bad cook! This is so good even though I've never heard of it! You need to teach me some time!"

Before he can reply, a gruff voice replies, "No, non farai niente con lui."

(No, you'll do nothing with him.)

James smirks at his friend, an evil glint in his eye, "Geloso amico mio?"

(Jealous my friend?)

"Come vorresti un pugno in faccia?", Rome replies making James raise his hands in surrender before rolling his eyes.

(How would you like a punch in the face?)

James mutters something under his breath, but I'm too focused on finishing the last bites of the crepe.

I lean back in the chair, satisfied. I've never had something so good!!

"Thank you James" I say softly, making him look at me once again and smile.

"Anytime, this will be our new thing since you've never had it."

Rome scoffs from beside me, but James doesn't comment as I smile brightly.

Soon both men had finished their meals as well and James takes all 3 of the plates to clean them.

I play with my fingers nervously, all I remember is the party and that's it.

Once James had finished drying the last plate and putting them away in the cabinets, I finally speak up.

"Rome, please tell me what happened. I-I know it wasn't anything good because I have a nervous feeling in my chest." I say quietly, making the man sigh from beside me.

His eyes are soft as they look at me. He glances at James quickly before looking at me again and standing from his chair.

He holds his hand out to me,

"How about we go back to the room you were in so you're more comfortable?"

"Okay," I reply, taking his hand as he helps me up.

I say bye to James as we head up the stairs.

I hope James is around more, he seems super nice.

We make it back to the bedroom I was in before, the covers all messy from lying in them.

"Whose room is this?" I question.

"Mine," He replies which makes my eyes widen.

As I glance at the furniture I realize it fits him. He's a man of many mysteries and his room represents that with all the black.

I sit on the bed as Rome sits next to me.

He looks like he's struggling with what he's going to say before finally speaking,

"What do you remember from last night?"
