《In Another World with Doraemon's 4D Pocket》Chapter 2 - Being Prepared Never Hurts

Cary had a good night's sleep inside the camping capsule. Too good in fact. He must have slept for at least twelve hours because when he woke up the sun was already high. Perhaps it was his mental exhaustion for racking his brains about his purpose of being sent here, but it was more likely the extremely comfortable bed that he slept on. After a quick shower yesterday, he plumped down on the bed and doze off immediately.
They say sleeping while it was raining outside of your windows was cozy, but sleeping under a snowstorm was just pure bliss. Cary thought. He stretched his body as he got out of bed and thought of what to do next.
"Before that, breakfast."
He thought of searching for one of the fancier gadgets that could produce full meals, but he just needed something to fulfill his satiety quickly for now. Touching the hologram in front of him, he pulled something out of the 4D pocket.
"Concentrated Food!"
Concentrated Food Function: The semi-fluid substance inside this can will help you become less hungry. This liquid contains all the nutrients one needs to stay operational throughout the day. Drink from the straw. It will automatically refill itself after being re-inserted into the 4D pocket.
Cary started drinking the green fluid inside the transparent can. "So this is what it tastes like!" He always wondered what some of the food and drinks from Doraemon taste like as a kid. Now he knew for this one: sweet and sour. It tasted like something that would nourish you, full of vitamins and minerals.
After that was done, Cary looked out of the window.
"It's not snowing anymore," He said.
"Before I go out there again, I need to make sure whether there's anything dangerous like bears out there. Or if I can find a way to reach the nearest civilization, if there is one,"

He rubbed his chin in contemplation, figuring out what's the best gadget to use for this situation. He did not want to go out yet, but he wanted to know what's out there.
"I know!" He pulled something out of the 4D pocket. It was shaped like a miniature tent.
"Mini Exploration Group!"
Mini Exploration Group Function: These small drones will fly around your area, or wherever you wish, to find what you are looking for. Set the miniature tent on the ground and state your order.
"I remember Doraemon using this when the group was trying to look for the missing Suneo in the underground dinosaur story," He muttered.
He opened the door of the camping capsule and placed the tent on the floor.
"Explore the area and report to me any living creature you find. Also, look for signs of where civilization is."
After stating his order, hundreds of small, humanoid drones with an eye replacing its head flew out of the tent and out of the capsule. They all started to flew in different directions and disappeared from sight. Cary closed the capsule drone again.
"Right, that'll take a while since I told them two orders like that. Now to think about how to survive out there and how to navigate the lands" He said.
Technically, there were devices that would most definitely help any situation that he needed. But like Doraemon in the manga where he always pulls out multiple wrong gadgets before finding the right one, it was impossible to remember the thousands of gadgets inside this 4D pocket. Cary needed to work with what he can remember for now.
"Let's see...I might need thick clothing to survive the cold. Maybe..."
He pressed the search button on the hologram and went through the options. After a while, he chose something and pulled it out of the pocket. It was an antiquated-looking square camera.

"Dress-up Camera!"
Dress-Up Camera Function: This camera will transform your attire into the design you inserted inside the camera. Insert a design into the camera and press the shutter button towards your target.
"I forgot that I need an actual design or picture of the outfit! And I can barely draw a stick figure. I've always hard problems drawing my storyboards, " Cary said as he slumped his shoulder in disappointment, "Although...isn't there...?" His voice trailed off and he chose something else from the 4D pocket.
This was a bigger gadget. It was standing on a tripod and looked like two canons facing the other way stuck together.
"Designing Machine!"
Designing Machine Function: This device will turn your crude drawing into a better, well-realized version of it. Insert your drawing on one end of the hole, and the machine will spit out the best possible interpretation of the original design out of the opposite hole.
"Man, the author of Doraemon really thought of everything. I can't believe they still work in real life as well, " Cary said as he gazed at the machine.
Thankfully, something as simple as a piece of paper he needed to draw on as well as a pen was included when he pulled out the machine.
"I will need to survive the cold so maybe something like what the Inuit people wear, But I need protection in case of any danger or threat that comes to my way," Cary muttered and started drawing something very crude. It looked like what a kindergartener would draw.
"Yep, I'm still awful at drawing," He marveled at his design and smiled.
Cary put his drawing if it could be called that, into the designing machine. The machine started to produce some type of noise before it spat out a piece of paper out of the other hole. Cary retrieved it and rolled open the new design.
"Holy shit!" Cary exclaimed. He couldn't wait to see what he looked like in this outfit so he inserted the paper into the dress-up camera right away. He pressed the timer of the camera, placed it on a table, and stood in front of it He even did a peace sign and snickered when no one was watching him. The shutter sound went off and the flash of the camera also activated, completely blinding him for a few seconds.
After rubbing his eyes so he could see again, he was already in a new outfit. He could tell right away as he felt...warm. He ran towards the bathroom's mirror and shouted in surprise.
"Wow!"
It was indeed a combination of what the Inuit people wore to survive the cold, which was leather and fur, and steel armor to protect his chest and shoulders. It was an odd mix of medieval armor and cold-weather outfit, but the contrast actually created a rather interesting and imaginative outfit.
"With this, I can go into the forest warm and protected," He said. That sounded vaguely sexual. He thought.
While marveling at his new outfit, one of the small humanoid drones from the mini exploration group knocked on the door.
"What? They're back already?"
He opened the door and it was just one drone.
"Where're all your friends?" Cary asked, noticing it was alone.
The drone suddenly started beeping. The beeping was just a series of random sounds to the human ears, but oddly enough, Cary could understand what it was trying to say.
"What? Some people are in trouble?" He said with raised eyebrows. It was time for him to go out there.

The Systems of the Multiverse - A Guide for the Multiversal Traveler
The Systems of the Multiverse have their issues. I, an observer from outside the multiverse have made it into my mission to tell you, the multiversal traveler about those issues and dangers. This is a relatively low effort NaNoWriMo and Writhathon project. I want to test myself if I can manage 55k words in a month, likely updating every single day until the end. This story is told in the form of an in universe book. Well, I say story... While this definetly won't be great, I still hope it will be enjoyable. I do my best to avoid grammar mistakes and spelling issues, but won't promise anything. Corrections are welcome, this is also an excercise to improve my writing from a technical standpoint. Not from a worldbuilding and character standpoint however, for that you need time. Oh, the keyboards (and computers) that the observer destroys are not real and only exists in story to have an excuse to easily end this story at the end of NaNoWriMo. I also personally like reading LitRPG stories, so this isn't meant to hate them. It might come over that way, but many of those issues are simply fun to think about: what would really happen if the world is so, seen through a lease of negativity :-) [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
