《NO STRINGS ATTACHED》CH. 9

Adeline woke up in the morning like any other day, stretched and...
Adeline: Wait, where am I?!
She woke up in an unfamiliar room. A very luxurious one. She was in a giant bed comfier than anything she had ever felt before and let's not even talk about the covers. She was feeling as if embraced by a cloud, not like she knew what that felt like either but if it had to feel something, this was it.
She forgot for a moment the problematic of her situation as she enjoyed lazing around in the bed. Then, she took in the sights of the room. Spatious and Sublime. Statues, Paintings and decorative engravings... It was as if this bedroom was made for a princess. She felt like one being in it. But she was not supposed to be here.
She was a newbie priestess, not a princess.
She was on her way to the capital with a trio of weird but amiable bumpkins...Wait. Could that dream have been for real?! Did they really plan to get the A rank examinations?!
Never mind that for now, where was she?
She got up and noticed how she was in a nightdress...that certainly did not belong to her. And worse, she did not put it on herself. Who did it?! She felt strongly embarrassed. She searched with a glance the room for her clothes without success then went to the closet.
There were priestess clothes inside. But not hers. Definitely not. Those were far too high grade. Archbishop-level grade. Just a glance at the mana emanating from them was making her dizzy and scared. Where the fuck did she end up?!
As she frantically look around for something helpful, she found a letter on the nightstand. She went straight for it and read:

"Miss Adeline,
If you read this letter, it means we have died..."
Right then and there, she fell on her knees. She began to cry a little. Did they die? She had not known them for long but they were good people. Stupid most of the time but nice. She began to rememore the few memories she had of them...
Then, after calming down somewhat, she returned to reading.
"...Sorry, this was a joke. I always wanted to do that one..."
She nearly tore the letter in her rage.
Adeline: Give me back my tears you dummies!
She had to calm herself down once more though for a different reason now. Then moved on to the rest of the contents.
"Anyways, you passed out after we left the guild so we picked you up and searched for the most luxurious inn. Then, Tempest had a very rare bright idea. Since we plan to stay in the capital for some time, instead of a luxurious inn, why not directly get a luxurious mansion?! Smart idea for once, right? So, here you are, in our new team mansion. Since you weren't waking up, we put you in your bed. Well, a maid we hired for you did, we are not that shameless... That aside, we also took the liberty of replacing your gear with stronger ones. I made most of the enchanting myself, feel free to check them for size and such. Tell me if you need them to be altered in any ways and i will be delighted to help (it is a hobby mine to make things). When you wake up, we will probably be in the bathhouse but feel free to go around and make yourself at home since it's also your home.
PS: You can ask the maids or butlers for anything. Litterally.

Shen"
She put the letter down to the nightstand. Things were moving far, FAR, too fast for her to process. And so, still in a daze, she put on a robe fit to be a treasure in any church. And she seemed to own an entire closet of such treasures...
Adeline: ....Did i actually joined some impressive people?...
As she exited her room, a butler was standing guard and bowed to her. He was a handsome man with short blond hair, blue eyes and...Pointed ears. Right, a handsome elf. Elfs are all handsome.
Butler ???: Miss Adeline, it is a relief to see you have woken up. I am Albert, feel free to call upon me for anything you might need.
Adeline: Uh, Albert? Where are we? What is going on?
Butler Albert: Ah yes, the Masters did say that you might be a bit disoriented at first...This is your party's mansion inside the capital, Miss Adeline. I am your private butler and you also have a private maid that is in the kitchen at the moment, Celine. Ah! She is the one that helped you to bed.
Adeline: Uh, why am I in such a- No. Never mind. Albert, where are they?
Butler Albert: ...They are in the bathhouse, Miss Adeline. I recommend not going there right now.
Adeline: Obviously! I wouldn't go meet them while t-they b-bath!
Butler Albert: Bath? Ah, uh, yes, of course, Miss Adeline. Would you perhaps like to eat instead?
Adeline: Uh, I guess? Now that you mention it, i feel quite hungry.
Butler Albert: You were asleep for a whole day after all, Miss Adeline. Please, this way. I will go and let the kitchen staff know right away.
Adeline: Ok...Thank you?
Meanwhile in the bathhouse.
Tempest: Bwahahahah! I had such a great idea! This is the best!
Atem: For once, your brains worked.
Shen: To think that we didn't have the idea but he did first. This will leave a stain... Still, this is good. Who knew that there were such services nowadays.
Atem: Money talks louder than words. To make the establishment come to our mansion instead of us going there...Such a smart move!
Tempest: Ahahahah! This is genius! I am a genius!
Atem: By the way, leader, when do you think the girl will wake up?
Shen: She's woken up already. We've been here for close to a day now after all.
Atem: Should we go meet her? I fear that her mental state may be unstable.
Shen: Sure, you go ahead.
As Atem got up and was ready to take the women's arms off him, he noticed the other two did not even move. He sat back down.
Atem: I guess she can wait a little more.

Trickster's Tale
Be careful when demanding reparations from gods. They rarely own up to their mistakes. Due to a goddess's shortsighted error, Perry finds himself transported to a distant Universe with new proportions and a different identity. Instead of cowering before the deity, he demands she opens a portal home or provides reparations for him and his bereaved family. Unfortunately, standing up for himself doesn't earn Perry respect. Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential. Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. If brute strength and arcane might won't get him the justice he desires, wit and creativity will. Perry's first target? A goblin shaman. Then, the world. And so begins, the bard's ballad. Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.

Night Terror
Story is currently 'on hold' for an indefinite period of time - I will eventually post the whole thing when it's complete, see the news post for more details. After dying young, a man reincarnates into a new world as Abe Haruki. 'This whole world is suspicious...' Despite the fact that Haruki had never once met a god, even during his reincarnation, he couldn't help feeling that this world was just too... Intelligently designed? I mean, seriously... Levels? Classes? Stats? Items? You can even level up your abilities! 'Definitely suspicious...' Unfortunately, the Church have been keeping close tabs on him from the shadows. They've heard rumours of a boy, born with a golden ring. With magical affinities that defy logic. Darkness and light energies destroy each other, violently, so how does he have the affinity for both? Can Haruki live his peaceful life along side childhood friend Suzu? Or will they fall to the coming darkness? ::Author's note:: While there are stats and exp etc, it's not LitRPG. They are there, but not the focus in any way. The world is more hardcore - A human is soft, so a pierced lung should eventually kill them. Even though they have a small pool of HP, a single deadly blow can end it all. If you ever want to say G'day, I'm in the discord chat every now and then, so feel free to join the madness ;) Thanks for reading
