Chapter 28
Ruby and I had stopped in a town to pick up supplies for the trip. We had separated for now and I was taking a walk down a fairly empty street.
Man 1:"You bitch! You think your better then us!"
I saw three men in a back alley surrounding a woman. She seemed terrified and was on her knees with tears in her eyes.
Woman:"Please I didn't mean it!"
Man 2:"Your gonna have to do a little better than that."
The man reached down and grabbed the woman by her shirt then tour it off.
Woman:"Aaaaaahhhhh!"
Man 3:"Yeah your gonna show us that your sorry!"
I felt intense rage building up inside me because I knew what they were about to do. I cut off all light traveling to the woman's eyes.
Woman:"What's happening!"
I didn't want her to see what I was about to do. I raised my hand and pointed it at the men one at a time. I turned them all inside out.
Man 1:"Aaaaaahahhhhhhhh!!!!!!"
Man 2:"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!"
Man 3:"Please don...aaahahhhhhhhh!!!"
The third man had actually noticed me, but he joined the other two as the screamed for a second before dieing. The woman seemed very frightened from losing her sight and then hearing the men screaming which caused her to faint.
I picked her up and covered her with my cloak. She had been hit a few times so I decided to heal her. I didn't know anything about her so I took her to an inn.
*I guess we'll spend a night here.*
Ruby and I had originally planned to buy supplies and leave, but one night here wouldn't be a problem. I left the woman there and went out to find Ruby. She was still shopping when we met up, and I told her about what happened.
Ruby:"Damn scum. They deserved to die."

Willow:"I agree and I'm sure it was quite painful."
Ruby:"You can be really evil sometimes."
Willow:"Of course! I'm Black Death!"
We went back to the inn and found the woman gone.
Willow:"She took my cloak. It was my favorite one too."
Ruby:"You can just buy a new one."
Willow:"It won't be the same. I loved that cloak like family."
Ruby:"Your weird."
Ruby went back to the main desk to get her own room, and I took a nap. We never saw that girl again so we left the next day. We still had a while to go before meeting up with the elven army.
**************Tessa POV***************
The enemy is stronger than anticipated. We still have yet to reach Garts outer walls. During night Jack sends his zombies after us and when the sun comes up he sends soldiers.
The morale is down and the soldiers are tired of fighting with so little rest. I ended up having to use the remaining weather balloons, and they are now all destroyed. We are still winning each battle, but we won't be able to keep this up.
Lamruil:"I don't see a way for us to win. We have the stronger weapons, but they have plenty of soldiers. The soldiers we kill during the day get back up to fight at night along with any of our own men that died."
Tessa:"We need to start having all corpses burned during the day. If we can stop the zombie attacks at night it will allow our men to get some rest."
Lamruil:"Not all of our mages can burn a body to ash. We'll need to pick some who can and assign it to them as their job for the next battle."
Lamruil set back in his chair and sighed.
Lamruil:"This is a lot harder than I thought it would be."
Tessa:"War is never easy no matter how strong you think you are."

Lamruil:"I know. I think father let me lead his army to teach me this. I was so eager to start a war with Gart that I didn't think that they could be hiding some strength."
Tessa:"He just wants you to be prepared for when it's your time to rule."
Lamruil:"You know......I was the son of one of his concubines. I surpassed all his other children in leadership and swordsmanship. I've always wanted father to acknowledge me so I worked really hard. After 300 years of working hard he finally told me that I would be his heir."
Tessa:"So he acknowledged you."
Lamruil:"Yeah but nothing changed. I still did all the same work and didn't say anything. Then I got the idea that if I proved myself by defeating the Hero King things would change. I never cared about saving the other races, but now that I watch as my men die I wonder why did I send them to their death."
Tessa:"These men chose to fight it's not your fault there dead."
Lamruil:"I know but I wanted this so I have to feel some amount of guilt. I begged father to start this war and now there are families that lost brothers, husbands and friends. I was arrogant and didn't think we would lose."
Tessa:"We still haven't lost yet."
Lamruil:"It doesn't matter. To many of my men have already died for this to be called a victory even if we did pull through."
Tessa:"You can't give up now."
Lamruil:"I won't stop, but I should at least join my men on the front line."
Tessa:"The next king of the elves should not be fighting on the front lines!"
Lamruil:"I need to do something or else I won't be able to atone for what I did. If I die that means it was just my fate to join the others."
Tessa:"What about all the hard work you put into this how can you just give up."
Lamruil:"I don't want to sit back while others die in my place under my orders."
Tessa:"Then think of a way to end this war fast before to many more people die."
Lamruil went silent just sitting in his chair.
Lamruil:"I want some time alone... please leave."
I listened to him and returned to my tent.
****************Ruby POV***************
Willow is a strange man, but what I find more strange is the fact that I feel comfortable around him. I don't feel like I need to be on guard and I can just rest easy.
Recently I've been thinking about Falon a lot. Wondering were he is and what he's doing. If I could just find him it would help everyone feel better. I can only think bad thoughts about why he hasn't found us. Maybe he didn't reincarnate and we'll never see him again.
Maybe he got tired of us and started a new life. What should I say if we do meet again. Willow told me to confess to him, but that might make Tessa hate me. The other girls are like family to me so I don't know what I would do if they hated me.
I was able to let off a lot of stress thanks to the war. I've always had fun fighting, but this guide job doesn't have many enemies trying to stop me. I only get to hunt my food when we run out of supplies.
I found out why I feel so comfortable around Willow. His scent reminds me of Falons. It's a nice smell that I use to smell all the time, but a few years after he died every trace of it was gone. This was the fist time I've smelled this for years.
I curious about why they smelled alike so I asked him about it, but he didn't have any idea why. I questioned him a lot just to make sure he wasn't lying, but I didn't get anything useful from him.
I can say that we have become good friends and now we've almost reached the camp.Back to Main Page
