Chapter 11
>**Treasure Chest**
>Credits x300
>Amethyst Gem
>Small potion of minor poison
>Iron Cudgel of Burning
I don't know how good they compare to what I have, but these look like great rewards! Amethyst will probably be worth a lot and the Iron Cudgel is enchanted! I take everything from the chest and open the shop. First thing, I sell the gemstone. It's worth 100 credits, so I don't have much to scoff at yet. Next, I sell the Cudgel for... 400 credits! Tons of money! Next goes the Black Mountain Snake Mother. Okay, it's a cool 80 credits. I look at the potion for a few seconds, and I decide to sell that too, even though it is only worth ten credits. I don't know how to use poison, and I don't know when I'll ever get the chance to use it.
All in all, I earn 890 credits from the dungeon. It's not enough to buy a magic skill book, but I'm sure I will be able to afford something else. First thing I buy is 36 iron arrows to bring me back up to 100 iron arrows. Now I've got 818 credits remaining. While looking over the skill books, I come across something that would help immensely in these caves, night vision. Not only night vision, but even heat vision, and x-ray vision. X-ray vision is 500 credits, night vision is 300 credits, and heat vision is 200 credits. X-ray vision and night vision are a must, so I buy both of them.
I exit the shop and immediately use the two skill books. I look around, but nothing has changed, which I guess is a good thing. It would be bad if the two skills took over uncontrollably. I try to enable just night vision, and it comes on with a thought. I try to use x-ray vision at the same time, and it comes on two. I can turn them on and off at a whim, and now I choose to exit the cave. I can see inside the rock, and I might be able to become a great miner who always strikes the vein.

I leave the cave and go back to my tree. My once beautiful and magnificent tree! Shot down in his prime! I could move to a different tree, or I could actually build a house. No more sleeping in trees, I'm building a house! I use my remaining credits to buy more rope and string, and I realize how close to nightfall it is. I turn off night vision and x-ray vision, and I climb my rope back into the second tree. Hammock down, and I can sleep for the night.
When I wake up on the fifteenth day, I cycle through night and x-ray vision. Both work and are amazing. I also realize that I didn't use my stat points from leveling up, so I decide to use those. I'm more suited for the rogue type character, so I put my five points into dexterity. I feel a little more flexible, and precise movements might be easier, but nothing much has changed. I guess I'll just find out later.
For now, I start putting up more traps. I want to make the maximum amount of money possible at the next shop day so I can buy more skill books! Magic will be mine soon! Ten traps here, twenty traps here. Big ones, small ones. I should be able to get, like, twenty hares or maybe something bigger tomorrow.
I also have the tanner's rack and the tanning skill. With these, I can see if making products will give more money than selling the whole corpse. I could make rabbit meat, rabbit furs, and I could make oil from the fat. Okay, maybe not that last one, but the other two are something I know how to do.
I spend the whole day setting traps, and I return to my second tree. Such a shame. I should get a woodworking skill next. I need to make a real house, just like I told myself last night!
Over the night, I don't see any giant snakes, or wolves, or bears. I think things are going to be a bit more peaceful now that I killed the pack of wolves and completed the dungeon.

When the village she watches over is destroyed in a civil war Gyoma, a kitsune is trapped in the mortal realm. With a letter adressed to the brother of a man she killed, a lord chasing her and a desire to find a way home she begins her journey I created this story as a school project and it consumed all my writer's motivation for a year. I am now going back off hiatus and am allowed to post this here. Due to the constraints of the project I feel it is more condensed than I would have liked but I won't change that. lots of research went into this.

The Successor
The Immortal God Emperor is dead...yet his Successor will one day arise. The worlds had long moved on from the greatest Cultivator of all time. The things that had been achieved and the advances made in the Immortal God Emperor's absence were nothing to turn one's nose up at. And yet, something was always missing. Because Cultivators, no matter the goals they pursue, always bow to the greater power. They seek it, they covet it for themselves, and they serve it with reverence. Shan Kai Lan was born into such a world. Born to two herb farmers whose cultivation did not surpass the Foundation Realm, yet who loved their son more than anything. Kai Lan was a child blessed by the Spiritual Plain, far more gifted and more intelligent than others his age. Yet the more profound his achievements, the greater the likelihood that his happy, peaceful life would be trampled on by those who desired his potential for themselves. The question of Kai Lan's journey becomes not whether he will reach the highest peak of cultivation, but what he will be forced to do to keep his young Clan, and the happiness it provides, at peace.
