《Welcome to the Dungeon》Chapter 16

I told Bella I had to study, and I spent the rest of the day doing so. With my wisdom, I quickly read through multiple math textbooks I found online. I relearned from basic algebra to precalculus. I also taught myself calculus, multivariable calculus, discrete math, linear algebra, and number theory. For the last one, I could find out even more than what the current mathematicians could even find out about our number systems!

For the afternoon, I studied various science materials from different branches. I was able to even go further than the textbooks in areas such as physics and chemistry!

While everyone thought me asleep, I studied English, Reading, and, for fun, Latin, Greek, and Spanish.

I did sleep for three to four hours before it was time to awaken the next morning. I was probably more prepared than anyone else. I even knew more than many professional scientists!

Everything I may have on me was hidden in the warehouse, so I wasn't concerned about having any contraband on me. If I wasn't so smart, I could've easily cheated using stuff in the warehouse as well. Soon, I passed through the inspection points and showed my ID. I was seated at a simple desk, just like all the other students. In front of each of us was a test booklet as well as the three number two sharpened pencils.

I began by filling out my personal information on the first page of the textbook in front of me, following the proctor's directions. The rest of the test was not difficult at all. I easily answered all the questions within the first few minutes of the section. During the timing between, even though I seem to have been doing nothing, I was actually conversing with Bella through our thought link. At the very end of the test, I got a small paper cut. I thought it was odd that my blood didn't flow out, though. I guess it was due to my exsanguination resistance. I was surprised, though when I heard the message from the system.

[transformation complete]

I was unsure of what this message meant, so I asked Bella.

"it means that your foot has become spiritual plasma," Bella explained.

"What's spiritual plasma?" I asked, confused.

"Fairies don't have blood. Instead, we have spiritual plasma. This is similar to human blood; however, we can control when and if it leaves our body."

I wanted to try out my new blood, but I knew I had to wait for the test to finish. Soon after, I began my walk home. On the way there, I tried releasing the spiritual plasma. Even with my cut healed, I was still able to direct it out of my body, and it looks similar to blood; however, it was sparkly and a little translucent.

"see why it's amazing, husband?" Bell asked.

"I see how it can be useful, especially for the demonic blood writing, but I don't see what makes it amazing," I responded

"It is much better than human's immune system. Bacteria living inside of the body on the skin will immediately die and be expelled. The same happens to all viruses and parasites as your body gets cleansed. You no longer need them, so why bother with them?" She continued her explanation.

"now I see why. Thank you for explaining, Bella." I responded while lightly hugging her.

When I arrived home, I told my mom and father about how easy I thought the test was. They were relieved that I did not come home and think that I failed everything. I did not tell them about how knowledgeable I was or any of the specific questions I remembered. When I arrive back in my room, I decided to send an email to the principal of my school. This email described how, because I thought the standardized test was so easy, I wished to test out of all of my classes for the year. This was an option our school offered. Some very smart students might opt out of one or two classes by testing, but I did not know of any who tested out of all classes.

I was surprised by how fast the principal responded. I told my parents that I was going back to school because I forgot my calculator. They believed me and I walked back to school. The real reason I returned, though, was because the principal wanted me to take the test immediately. She also seemed astonished that I was ready to take the test after just taking the standardized testing this morning. Buy her email, she seemed like she had to convince me to take the test before school started. She did not expect me to take her up on the offer, though, of taking the test today.

I planned to pretend to be at school during the day while really being at the dungeon. The sooner I could complete these basic tests, the better. It would just allow me to spend more time in the dungeon later. Because I couldn't tell my parents about the dungeon, I also did not discuss my plan to test out. It was all part of my subterfuge.

When I arrived back, the door was initially locked. I had to ring the doorbell in order to gain entrance. One of the test proctors I saw earlier let me in and guided me into a separate room. Once we arrived, the Proctor began explaining the format of the tests I could choose which math and sciences I wished to test out of, even if I wasn't scheduled to take a class until next year. I could also test out of classes I was not eligible for, such as physics II and III, but I was advised against it. I decided to take all of the math tests offered up to calculus II, the highest the school offered, as well as statistics I and II. I also took chemistry, which I was supposed to take this year, and physics two and three.

Easily, I finished all of the tests within the hour. Right away, the Proctor took the tests, which were all multiple choice, and deliver them somewhere else. At the same time, he told me to remain seated while my tests were being graded. I happily obliged. It took longer for the test to be graded than it did for me to fill out the answers. During this time, I told my parents that I met some friends from tae kwon do and that we were going to get something to eat.

I was surprised when the principal was the one to deliver my test results. The principal explained that I had gotten between 98% and 100% on all of the exams and that she was very impressed. Because of my grades, I would be able to test out all classes this year and would not have to come to school. I was slightly upset that there was a question where the real correct answer was not this same that was chosen for the answer document, since I was completely sure all of my answers were correct.

Now that my school situation was completely finished, I went home and checked my status again. Once I did so, in addition to no longer having exsanguination resistance (because I no longer had blood), I also saw that my languages changed. Now, it was all non-magical languages.

I asked Bella, "what are magical languages?"

She responded, "magical languages are those that have the power to effect magical energy by just speaking words. It is a very rare skill that a few monsters and spirits may be able to master."

When we got home, I told my parents that I had successfully retrieved my calculator. My father also told me, during this time, that he has not made further progress on the strange scale. No matter what anybody did, they could not figure out anything about it. Remembering how it seemed to be part of the dungeon, I asked Bella if she knew anything about the strange scale. She said that it could be seen on floor 25, but she did not know how it had gotten to earth. We quickly returned to the dungeon, and she reported to her mom about the scale. She also seemed surprised that a dungeon-related item had somehow fallen into a world where dungeons and magic do not exist. She said she would tell her superior, who have level seven authority.

This superior must be very powerful, as even Bella had no idea who or what the superior is. She knew the same as me: the authority of the superior is two levels higher than her mother, who only had a level five authority.

The following day, I went to my magic training field, which had recovered its full energy, so that I could train my mana shield. It was weak on the third floor, and I was worried about the enemies on the fourth floor. During the training, I also tried to infuse SF into my mana shield. While it did not level up at first, the addition of SF, which acted just like the mana, increased its strength by roughly ten times!

Finally, my shield increased to level three. At this level, I could not make an entire shied shield; however, I could create shield parts away from my body. While they couldn't actively move around to block all attacks, I could choose the initial position around my body where they occur. I also learned from my demons that the next level would allow the shield parts to be mobile and controlled by me with a thought.

For the next few days, Bella and I practice with each other on the other training field. This caused a great jump in my spiritual force, increasing it by three thousand. It was probably due to me practicing with Blackmail while imbuing SS into it. While not as large, by practicing with me, Bella's spiritual power also increased. Hers increased one thousand five hundred.

On Labor Day weekend, we took a break to travel with my family for the holiday. We weren't going too far—only to the mountains a few hours away. It was a hiking-themed trip, but we couldn't stay for too long, since my school was supposed to start on that Wednesday. Why they chose the middle of the week, I had no idea.

Overall, our vacation was fun. Bella enjoyed hiking for fun. She usually flew if she was around mountains, so this was a relatively new experience for her. My father surprised the family by bringing camping gear. The rest of us thought we'd be staying in a hotel for some time. When we set up camp, Bella and I got a tent together, and my parents had their own tent. Emily, already back in college, didn't join us.

We didn't sleep in the tent. There was no need for us to sleep on the ground, so we went to my spiritual world to sleep there. Because of my large increase in spiritual force, the forest and river had their size increased. There was also a small pond, now.

We came back to the tent early, so that it wouldn't seem like we disappeared. The rest of the vacation was uneventful, and we soon returned. When we edited their memories, my parents thought Bella also went to school with me. We kept up the act the next day and both went to school.

I still had to make an appearance today because of the announcements regarding the new school year, so Bella went inside my soul for now. Finally, the morning announcements were over. Bella came out, and we went off to the dungeon.

I finally felt ready to enter the next floor. With my training and my shield's increase, I wanted to see how far I could go with Bella before calling on my serpent pet. I also decided to give it a name, since it was now my pet, even if it lived on my hand and didn't seem to require any food. I named it Samantha, and Bella thought it was a great name for our new family member. Even though there was no sound, I could tell the serpent was happy being named. It was like I could sense what it was thinking even without words or other noises.

When we entered and were going to choose the fourth floor, the system message displayed:

[Level seven authority detected. Loading system reconfiguration. Please stand by]

"Level seven?" I asked aloud.

"Mom's boss is that level. I wonder if he did something," Bella said.

"That would make sense. It won't let us enter until it's reconfigured." I said, trying to choose the floor.

[Reconfiguration successful]

Looking at the message, I saw my affinities were all halved.

"Bella, do you know why my affinity's cut in half?"

"Because fairies can use twice as much as humans? We're special."

"What about heavenly affinity? It's at 120% still."

"I don't know anything about your strange affinity. Sorry, husband."

"It's OK. We'll figure it out eventually. We have forever together, right?

"K."

Finally, we entered. Before going to the floor, though, we checked in with the fairy queen. She assured us that it was her boss's work that reconfigured my status. They wanted to make sure the dungeon's system was up to date with my current abilities, now that my transformation was completed.

Finally, we were able to enter the fourth floor. We arrived and, in front of the stairwell, there was a giant stone. I didn't have my demon eyes on at the time, so I could tell it was dark. Behind the large stone, there was a small, black passageway. Moving the stone, we went through the passageway. At the other end, there was what appeared to be a road from Earth. On either side of the road, there were endless fields of high stalks.

We passed by a signpost after walking for almost an hour without encountering any monsters (besides a single orc). The signpost had a sign pointing forward saying "graveyard" and going the other way "town." It was written in a weird language I'd never seen before, but I could still read it.

There was obviously no town, as we walked the entire way. We even tried searching through the stalks, which ended up being wheat and corn, but we were still unable to find anything. Continuing on, I wondered if the entire floor was just this long road. If we had a car, it would be a lot quicker. Even with my speed of almost four times an average person's, our pace was still slow.

Finally, after another few hours of walking, we took a rest on the side of the road. We left from there to return home after school and, that night, after everyone was asleep, we went back. It was still night on this lonely road, even though so many hours had passed. Maybe, it was always night in this room. Continuing on, the road started looking broken. There were many potholes, the road wasn't level, and there were cracks all over. It reminded me of some sort of movie where something was going to jump out at us.

Sure enough, something did come out. It was, again, a single orc. It wasn't too hard to defeat, but it made me think this may be a good haunted house for Halloween. Later on, the fields around us lessened in height until the ground itself was barren. Still, nothing could be seen even with my improved vision.

Towards the end of the night, we arrived at a large mountain. In front of the mountain was a sign in the same peculiar language as before. I was worried after reading it. If the sign could be believed, it provided some much-needed insight into this catastrophe that may happen in the near future. When I finished, I was pale. This truly was unexpected! I really hoped it would not happen any time soon to Earth. Since I was immortal, I knew I would have to deal with it once it came, but I didn't want my family involved.

While I was reading, I was blocking Bella's view.

"What's it say, husband?" She asked me.

"You've never read the sign?" I asked, only half thinking about the conversation.

"I've never been in front of this mountain, so I've never seen the sign. It looks to be a really old language—I don't even know what language it is. Come on, what's it say? Does it help you conquer the dungeon? Does it involve me? I want to know."

She seemed really inquisitive over this unknown message in the dungeon that she had never seen before.

I began to read her the message aloud, while reading it myself another time.
