《Battlefield NYC (LitRPG Apocalypse)》Chapter 18: Reflections on the Enemy (?)

These bastards weren't just trying to kill him, after all. They wanted everyone else dead too. That meant something even deeper, somehow darker and scarier was going on here. Was this a cult? A group of religious fanatics who believed in some sort of apocalypse scenario involving the System and the world ending?
No, it couldn't be that. If they were like that then they wouldn't have attacked in such an indiscriminate way—they would have taken aim at specific people first, maybe go for the ones with high status points or whatever, before moving onto their next victim.
It had to be something with the System. Lance refused to believe that so many normal people had suddenly become insane.
So why hadn't he or Sophie been affected? Well, there wasn't really much point asking that now anyway: if they got out alive they could always look into that later when things had calmed down again. Right now though, what mattered more than anything was keeping himself safe while he tried to figure out how he should approach this situation. What was he supposed to do about this new batch of crazed ability-toting lunatics? He didn't even know where they'd come from, nor did he know who was behind them, or even why they were doing all of this.
Okay, maybe it was too early to assume they were hostile. Many of them had been so far, but a few--like those two weird policemen--were still safe. Maybe these guys would be too.
That thought was part of the reason why he was going to try to get a better handle on these people by trying to communicate with one of their number instead of just fighting them like everyone else seemed to be doing.
Lance stood up from his seat and walked over towards the door of the room; the last time he had seen anyone move outside the hallway, it had been the cops. Whoever came through here next could potentially be friendly: after all, if not then he could always kill them as soon as they tried violence on him. And it would come down to violence if peace didn't work, he knew that. No use risking escaping for them to attack him again later on, or worse yet, have someone more dangerous than themselves show up and start killing innocent victims all around town.

If there were any other innocent victims still alive, that was.

Cheaters Always Win
Chester Everheart knew that life wasn't fair. Some were born in situations where it was almost impossible to succeed, whereas others were born with a silver spoon with everything at their disposal. A scant few were dropped into another world, filled with monsters and magic and forced to fend for themselves. The latter was a rare, somewhat ridiculous trope; but it happened to him anyway. Despite this he followed a motto that applied regardless of the dimension he was in. Playing fair is for suckers, and cheaters always win. Cheaters Always Win is a comedy-adventure that I've had churning in my head for a couple years now. I'd like to think it still has the charm that most LitRPGs have while also being unique in its own way. Every arc of the story will subsequently have a 'Level Complete' chapter that details all the stats, levels, equipment, etc. gained by the main cast of characters. The Everyday Life of A Pathfinder
Pathfinders are people who are respected and revered, not because of power or might, but because of knowledge of the world. They are the peacekeepers between humans and nature. Guiding humans through the most dangerous areas known to man and killing any species which attempts to throw off the balance of the natural world. This is their job - and their passion. *** Note: This story is going to have a few generic elements in it, like fantasy setting, guilds, cursing and stuff like that. A few (a lot) of things it won’t have is: Overly bloody descriptions, I don’t need to have enough buckets of gore to fill a ballroom for people to get that guy is defiantly dead; Rape, I don’t like it and it’s honestly painful writing that stuff; Harems, fuck harems; Overpowered MC, EVER; Game elements/ transported to another world, overused as shit; “I’m out for revenge”, no one cares; “My village was burned down and everyone died ;-;”, yeah you and the other 60% of the population; A lot of overly dramatic events, Drama has its time and place to be impactful, so you need to use it sparingly so when you do it’s special; “I’m going to stab you because I’m CrAZy, I believe that everyone has a reason for what they do, sometimes the reason is because they’re fucking insane, but I’m still not going to write things like that; Generic fantasy creatures, I’m tired of hearing about the fucking mystical dragons or the god damn slimes, so I’m going to create my own monster. Also feel free to roast. I don't get offended easily and it's honestly one of the best ways to increase writing abilites.
