《World Jumper》Training 2 Part 2

Jet started pounding his head against the table. So it had turned out he could learn to write. He could even make the words in the book go back into non English. There was just one problem, they're alphabet was made up of ten thousand symbols. "Relo can we stop my brain is going to explode?"
"Jet we just barely started an hour ago." She tilted her head at him.
"But my poor brain. There is no way I'll remember all of this." Jet moaned and complained.
"Nonsense, it may take time but anyone can learn. Just takes time." She gave a small smile.
'What is wrong with Relo? She almost looks like what I did before coming here.' Jet thought and looked Relo up and down. "Let's take a break and go for a walk. I haven't seen much of the castle or city."
"You really trying to get out of the lessons?" Relo sighed and leaned on her hand.
"Yes."
"Alright, we can take an early lunch. Let's head over to the dining hall." Relo did not move a muscle.
Jet just sighed and started to do his homework again. If he went for an early lunch Rick would find out. That was the last thing he needed. "Fine I'll get to work."
After what felt like hours, in reality was ten minutes. Relo sighed while helping Jet. "Ok, let's do something else till lunch. But after I want your full attention."
"Deal," Jet answered to quickly and jumped to his feet. He did not want to do anymore writing. Of course he had just promised not to complain after lunch. But he didn't care. Grabbing Relo, Jet pulled her out the door. Before Rick found out, he was going to enjoy his little break.
Relo just stood and watched Jet, surprised with what he was doing. "Jet, why did we rush to the kitchen?"
"There has been a meal I've been wanting to try again." Jet kept working on the meal. He had turned some of the bread dough they had made into round balls.
"Is this ground enough or you?" One of the younger cooks asked Jet.
"No, grind it down to just before it looks like paste." Then Jet stopped and looked at the meat again. Then pointed a finger at the meat and ground it with wind magic. "Guess I should've done that first."
"So, what are you making?" Relo looked into the bowl of ground meat.
"Hamburgers." Jet took the meat away from the apprentice cook. "I need some vegetables diced. I'll handle seasoning the meat."
Relo just tilted her head confused, "what is a hamburger?"
"You'll find out when I'm done." Jet kept tasting each of the seasonings.
"I'm quite curious too." Garent said while standing behind Relo.
Jet turned to the King in surprise. Then to everyone else who didn't seem surprised. So it had to be common for the King to come around the kitchen. "Uh you want to try the burgers?" Jet didn't want the King to try something he wasn't sure he would make well.

"Yes, so see you for lunch." Garent said and walked out of the kitchen.
Jet looked over to Relo with a face that screamed what do I do? "I hope whatever you are making tastes good." She gave him a small smile.
After Jet made his meal for the royal family he never wanted to talk about it again. The burgers turned out awful. Well, to him they turned out awful. The royal family actually like them. Which was a good thing for him. However, the burgers just weren't to his liking. Although the French fries were good and he had found a spice close to tasting like salt. This that led to the next issue. The human body needs salt, so what would happen if he didn't find a replacement.
So Jet spent the next two weeks with the same routine. His thirty minutes of archery practice before his morning practice with Todly. Then his gruesome training with Rick. But don't forget about his writing lessons with Relo. The nut he has yet to crack. Other then that he had absolutely no time to himself, except the thirty minute archery practice he got up early to do.
Jet side stepped a sword strike from Rick and shot fire from his hands. Rick currently had him trying to make other flame types. He didn't want Jet to think using fire magic meant using a fireball.
"I like using fireballs instead." Jet complained.
"You are able to shape your magic. It would be a waste to just to use the basics." Rick sighed.
"I'll just master a unstoppable fireball. Then I wouldn't have to worry." Jet gave a half grin.
"Stay here." Rick walked off leaving Jet to wonder what he was up to. It didn't take long, Rick come back with the King. "Ok, Jet throw everything fire related at my brother."
Jet couldn't tell if Rick was serious. The King is known for his wind, and Rick wanted Jet to use fire. So Jet cast a small fireball aimed to the side of Garent. His eyebrow raised when the fireball just disappeared. This time Jet put quite a lot of magic in the fireball. When it got close again the fireball disappeared without a trace.
"Wow, after I heard so much about you. That was quite disappointing." Garent said while yawning.
Without thinking Jet threw a very powerful exploding fireball at the King. His eye grew wide as the fireball just disappeared into thin air. Then a thought struck him. "You're taking the oxygen out of the air around you."
They both just looked at Jet in confusion. "What?" They both asked at once.
Jet stood there in thought wondering what was he said to confuse them. "Is that not what you did?"
"What is oxygen?" Garent asked him.
Now Jet was confused, everyone knew about oxygen. Then another thought crossed his mind. "Oh, that's common knowledge on Earth." So he went into a brief explanation of what oxygen is.
"That is not what I did, although I like the idea of learning how to control this oxygen. Anyway, I simply just blew out your flame with wind. Just because I'm an opposing element doesn't mean I can't just overpower your flames." Then as usual Jet interrupted Garent.

"Wait, wait , wait, I thought that my fireballs were made of magic. You're telling me you can put out magical fire." Jet asked.
"You do realize my wind is magic too." Garent said in a deadpan voice.
"Some things tend to go over his head." Rick laughed.
'Hey, you guy's don't even know what oxygen is.' Jet thought as he looked at Rick. "Right so I guess I'm supposed to learn that just because I use an fire, I wouldn't be able to wind wind?"
Both of their shoulders slumped when Jet got done talking. "No, that it doesn't matter which element you are up against. If the other person has the knowledge you will always lose. Unless you can completely overpower the other person." Rick explained and then thought Jet was the type for just powering through things.
"I see," Jet lied. He had no clue what Rick had meant. "So Garent can you teach me more about wind."
"Jet please say your Majesty, and I'm teaching you." Rick tried to scold Jet, it hadn't worked so far. He even wondered why his brother let Jet get away with the lack of manners.
Jet just shrugged. "No can do, the only two titles I've ever used was Dad and Mom. Well and my Aunt Jean, not that I use Aunt that much I usually just call her Jean."
Garent just smiled and started to walk off. "Learn to make your wind move faster. Then I'll show you some tricks."
Jet tilted his head. "Make the wind move faster? Shouldn't be to hard." He thought aloud.
Jet had never been so wrong in his life. For the life of him he could not figure out how to make the wind move faster. Every time he threw a wind blade it didn't go any faster. He had been at this for over a week now. Rick and Todly both were surprised that Jet had skipped their training, also Relo had complained he had skipped his lessons.
"I don't think that dummy can take much more." Todly looked at all the pieces laying around it.
"At least he is persistent." Rick added.
"A little too persistent, Dolly told me he's been skipping meals. Before you ask, yes she chewed me out for that. I don't know why she never blames you." Todly sighed.
"Cause she likes me. Now we should do something about Jet before he cracks." Rick headed over to Jet. "Hey," Rick started but Jet put up a finger. His eyebrow raised and he was about to smack Jet.
"I think I've figured something out." Jet said just before Rick smacked him over the head. "What was that for?"
"Being rude." Rick said simply. "Now what did you figure out?"
Jet smiled and held out a hand. A small amount of wind started to spin in his hand. When he let it go the head of the dummy fell off. "I figured out how to make the wind blades spin. Now there not that fast yet but I'll figure out how to." He stopped when he noticed Rick and Todly staring at the dummy.
"That wasn't quite what his Majesty meant." Rick couldn't believe what he had just saw.
"Then what was I supposed to figure out?"
"How to make a wind wall for protection. Of course you had to make it more deadly instead." Rick shook his head.
"You know what, I had completely forgot about Garent's wind wall." Jet made a wind wall in front of himself then sent out a fireball with the same amount of magic. The two spells canceled each other out. "I think I got it down now."
Todly just shook his head. "Rick I think we're underestimating him." Then an idea occurred to him. "Why don't we have his Majesty sponsor Jet for the competition coming up. Charten may not be back in time anyways."
"I'll talk with him, may do the brat some good to be beaten up by people his age." Rick rubbed at his chin.
"Do I get a say in this?" Jet looked back and forth between them.
It turned out he did not have a say. Garent had already told the other nobles he had picked Jet. So it was already out of Jet's hands. So Jet decided he would make sure not to lose. He also could not get out of his training any more and they are training him twice as hard now.
"Jet why is your hair pink?" Relo looked at him tilting her head. They were currently doing some more lessons on writing.
The quill in Jet's hand snapped. "What do you think happened?"
"If I took a guess, Ileana." Relo broke out laughing.
"You know what I have had to deal with today?" Jet looked over to Relo, who was still laughing. "Can you please stop laughing?"
It took Relo a few more seconds to get back in order. "Don't worry I can get you something to wash the color out tonight."
"Thanks," Jet said to Relo and got back to work. Not that he had much more to do. Writing in their language was almost second nature to him now. Of course he was cheating, but he wasn't about to admit that. He didn't know how but he could somehow see both languages in his head.
"So it looks like some of your old forgotten knowledge made teaching you easier. Making our time come to an end." Relo whispered the last words.
Jet raised an eyebrow. "You like me being around."
"Well it doesn't matter. Now that you know how to write, Rick and Todly will be taking the time slot." She said as she walked out leaving Jet alone.
Jet just sat and looked at the door Telo went through. He hadn't known she had enjoyed teaching him so much. Maybe he could get an hour free time for himself. Mostly so he could go see the city. Then Ileana walked into the library. Jet immediately jumped out of his chair to chase her.
