"What will my mother think?"
"Whatever, what's done is done."
I admired myself in the mirror, doing various profound and mysterious poses. One moment I looked like a person deep in thought. The next moment I looked like a fierce expert.
It was kind of ridiculous. A two-year-old child with a beard.
This beard was not just for looks, it had defensive and offensive capabilities. Since the beard was formed from the power of the seed I could control it freely.
I tested it out to get used to the way my beard handled.
With my will, my beard moved as if it was swaying in the wind.
"This shit's great, my beard can sway without wind."
The last thing missing was my clothing. It was crucial to go with something cool. The defense was only number two on my priority list.
First off I got rid of my shoes, I put it into replicator to turn it into replicator fuel. The amount was insignificant but one couldn't be wasteful. Then I recycled the rest of my clothes.
I was butt naked in front the replicator."
"Use earths database and the data we got from planet Tera. Run a simulation and create a light fabric that can withstand magical and physical damage.Furthermore, the fabric must resist high and low temperatures.
Also, the fabric must be able to conceal life signs and energy including mana. The cloth texture should be like cotton, breathable and comfortable to wear."
I became excited as came up with more and more ideas.
"Yes, yes. Also, also make the fabric water and stain resistant. It should be antibacterial and self-cleaning.Hmm, what else, I'm running out of ideas. Well, whatever that's enough for now, can be to overpowered, otherwise, people will say I'm cheating, hehe."
"Acknowledge, running simulation...Estimated time of completion 12 minutes 16 seconds"
"Computer reroute all available power into the computer core.Shut down all nonessential systems until the simulation is over."
"Acknowledged." The ship lights dimmed a bit, and you could hear stuff shutting down.

"Estimated time of completion is now in 2 minutes 21 seconds."
Good, it was so awesome. This second life was like the ultimate crafting and sandbox game.
And the good thing was, that I had the ultimate cheats.Well, it would be really unfair if I didn't get any since I had endured hell shit.
After a bit of waiting, the professional female computer voice could be heard again.
"Simulation complete. Please name the fabric." The lights turned brighter and you could hear stuff booting up.
"Call it 'Profound Fabric Mark I"
A sound of acknowledgment rang out.
"Computer take my measurements and replicate a robe out of Profound Fabric Mark I. The color should be black, for the looks, keep it simple. Also, make a black robe with the same specs."
The robe and cloak materialized in the oversized replicator.
"Nice and good."
I was about to put the clothes on when I realized something. Right, how could I forget?
"Computer, replicate black boxer briefs made out of Profound Fabric Mark I."
A black boxer brief took form. I sighed, having to wear such children sized clothes.
I put on my underwear and clothes.
My outfit was complete. My preparations to meet the king had been finished.
I stroked my beard and wanted to leave the room.
After a few steps, I noticed that something was amiss. Something about my get up was flawed, I stopped and couldn't help but frown as I looked down at my bare feet.
"Right, how could I forget something so essential?"
After a facepalm followed by smooth beard stroke, I went to the replicator.
"Aiya. Computer access earth's database, create a golden throne in style of 16th-century Ottman empire. You know these with the red big cushions. Make it able to fly and float, with shields and phasers."
The throne materialized and I jumped on it.
"Wow, this cushion is so comfortable. I sat down crosslegged and powered up the throne.
The golden throne began to float with no disturbing noise.

"Onward hahaha." I flicked my beard and the floating throne moved with my will.
. . .
I entered the shuttle bay. There were three shuttles each looked like a long mini pagoda. They were 20 meters in height and had a 15-meter radius.
In front of one of the shuttles, the rest were waiting. Bob, Bould, Julius and even Elise wore new robes. The robes they wore were of exquisite quality, with flying dragons and crouching tigers.
As for weapons Bould seemed to have a duranium sword attached to his back. Bob had decided to use a big ass double-edged ax. Surprisingly Elise didn't choose a weapon.
"Hohoho, my cute little disciples, your ancestor has arrived." I stroked my beard as I proclaimed proudly.
When the others heard me they looked at me with surprise. Bob and Bould were staring dumbfounded. Julius cleared his throat, obviously, he tried to compose himself.
"Master, what have you done." Elise tried her best to hold back her laugh but it escaped anyway.
"This is too funny." She laughed like an innocent child. She rarely had genuine moments like that, since her harsh training over the two years, took away her childhood.
So seeing her like that made my mood turn better.
"Hahaha, now you guys won't need to feel too embarrassed when you call me ancestor."
I slowly moved to the shuttle to make my entrance more dramatic. When I arrived everyone was looking at me. Uncle Lee nodded in approvment.
"Young master, your appearance is really profound today.Hohoho."
"As a fellow man of culture, your praise flatters me. Hehehe."
Strange smiles were on everyone's face.
Elise was excited as she touched the throne.
"Master, why do you fly on this floating thing?"
"It's not just a floating thing. This is my floating throne."
"Cool, I also want one."
"Aiya, Elise it is important to be humble, we mustn't show off more than necessary."
"I see, that is why Ancestor has no shoes on. This is to show off his humbleness." Julius seemed like he had been enlightened.
"What? No, it is just that a gods don't wear shoes. How can I, who is trying to surpass the gods, let my feet touch mortal soil?
"Ah, I see...wait."
Bould taped on Julius' shoulder and shook his head with a smile.
"Hahaha,I see, I see, that's why. Thank you for enlightening me, ancestor." Julius seemed a bit awkward as he laughed.
"Anyway, let's depart before it's getting too late, we also have to drop Elise off later."
"Number one, for this mission, I need you on the bridge."
"But captain, it is too dangerous to go, as a captain you should remain on the ship."
"No can't do, your concern moves me but without me, the mission won't be a success. Also, I need a capable commanding officer on this ship when I'm not on board."
"Yes, captain. Please be safe" She looked a bit reluctant but nodded anyway.
I nodded back
"Now everyone let's go inside the shuttle."
The shuttle door opened and Elise was the first one to dash off, she acted like a proper child. Even Julius, Bob and Bould behaved a bit childish. They all seemed excited as they, rushed to the shuttle.
Was this what you call generation gap?
Uncle Lee laughed as he flicked his beard.
I also flicked my beard, since that's what a cool martial artist does.
. . .
A lift took us up to deck 1. This shuttle had two decks, on deck 2 housed critical components and also had small sickbay and a replicator.
Everyone took a seat.
"I must remind you not to touch any buttons please." I warned them. Can't have a core breach and blow this whole shuttle up.
Elise who was about to press some bottoms stopped and clicked her tongue. This rascal, I sighed inwardly.
"Uncle Lee set course for Velen city. Quarter impulse."

This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Queer Tales From A Street Nominally Associated With Your Reality
The street is not from your world, and yet it's attached, clinging like a shadowy limpet to the edge of your London, your city skyline stabbing into it from above. Or well that's what we tell ourselves, no one who lives here really knows. We are after all just regular folk displaced from our original realities. Just a bunch of folks with queer tales from a street nominally associated with your reality. What to expect: - A series of interlinked short stories gradually unpacking the lives, complications and mysteries associated with those who live in the street - A weird pseudo-British setting where physics works inconsistently, and houses move position regularly - Stories filled with LGBTQ+ characters, and in particular ones on the trans/nonbinary spectrum - Potentially iffy grammar, I'm new to publishing my work online, so whilst I am checking things before posting it’s a near certainty that some things will slip through - A schedule of one chapter every two weeks.
