《I Am The GUIDE》[Vol.1] 0029: The Freed (5)

"O, ooh! A fairy who can create poison! Splendid!"
'... Fairies don't do this, do they?'
Based on Hugh's reaction alone, Reece already has an idea.
Daniel then confirmed it.
[Indeed. Fairies do not create such obnoxious things.]
'And you did not correct my suggestion?'
[It is for the best.]
Reece was sighing as he massages his head. This will become a problem, surely.
"Reece, you are amazing."
"Yes, yes. I guess I am."
However, Reece was glad that Hugh was not suspicious of him. It was enough. Who cares if fairies create poison or not? It was not the problem right now.
"Refrain from telling everyone or they will aim for me. You do get what I am trying to say, do you, Hugh?"
"Yes, I do understand. However, I will not let that happen. I will protect you."
Hugh did not try to ask the reason why Reece will just ignore it when its punishment is severe. It was because Azure has already assured him that Reece was not the typical fairy. Even amongst the most unique creatures, he was more unique than them.
Truthfully, Azure was confident of his hypothesis. He was a prideful snake mutant, after all.
"Mm. Thanks."
Reece ruffles Hugh's fur with his small hands before laying down and watching the sky that was not visible because of the huge trees.
The lion mutant only slightly felt what Reece did because its hand was way too small, however, he knew Reece was trying to pet him. The lion mutant quietly smiles as he began to run faster in the direction Reece was pointing.
Meanwhile, in the Long Fangs Bird Tribe, now destroyed.
"The mutant was not found."
Reported by a pitch blackbird from the Raven Birds Tribe.
Raven Birds Tribe, is similar to the Earth's hawks. They specialize in assassinations and anything stealthy. And they are currently in the Long Fangs just an hour after the incident. However, they can hardly investigate considering a sum of animals is grabbing the dead bodies of the Long Fangs birds.
"As expected, it was him."
Another bird said, with grey-colored feathers, as he sighs deeply.
The two of them were here to investigate as soon as they saw the dome slowly forming. They happen to be near the vicinity and witnesses how the dome covered the entire Long Fangs and how it was gone and the only thing left was the bloodied scene.
They are quite far though hence they were not able to see if there was someone alive after the dome was removed.
And.
They left without actually asking for permission from their tribe Chief as they were too eager to see the scene with their own eyes. They are probably going to get punished, as usual.

This is why they are stealthily going to the tribe. If they were faster, they could have seen if someone made it out of the dome.
"I warned them not to keep the mutant alive."
The grey bird looks down from the tree he was hiding and saw the horrible scene down there. Fresh blood is scattered everywhere, creating a small flood. The metallic smell was also strong and the dead bird's meat was tempting to devour. It was as if seducing everyone in the forest.
Of course, the grey bird and the blackbird stops their fantasy and decided to hide in the highest branch of the trees they see to avoid getting tempted by the meat again.
"Mutants are very strong because they possess two blood, and that made them dangerous even with high leveled restricting devices."
The grey bird sighs deeply as he feels sorry for his fellow birds that just died.
"Now, this is the result."
The members of Long Fangs are very prideful, violent, and arrogant. They are hard to control and most birds avoided them as they keep causing trouble. They are also one of the worst out of all the bird tribes located in this forest they currently reside.
"However, I find something weird."
"Yeah? What is it?"
The blackbird looks around before he continues.
"This seems to be planned."
The grey bird frowned after hearing it.
"Planned? What do you mean planned?"
The grey bird thought this happens because the mutant just persisted that he was able to get out of his prison room and madly slaughtered everyone on sight. The dome though was unexplainable.
"Yes, it appears so after I've done some investigation. This is a coup."
After they got there, the blackbird quickly looks around as everyone was still on their way to the destroyed tribe. No one was still there so he has some time to take a look.
"Explain."
The grey bird gave a small nod, telling the blackbird to continue.
"Yes. It seems that the Acting Chief Russell and one of the strongest elder, Joan, was out to trade with the Squirrels. This is an important trade for most birds, which explains why the strongest warriors were also not here to protect the tribe. It is the perfect chance to attack the vulnerable tribe."
Though the Long Fangs birds are very strong compared to other birds, if their opponent is still a higher being, they stood no chance. It was no surprise they are annihilated.
"Furthermore, I search the tribe to find their emergency trigger buttons and why is it not working. I found out it was nowhere to be found. It was not destroyed, rather, it was gone to where it was installed."

The grey bird and the blackbird were the ones who installed the hidden emergency alarms connected to other bird tribes. It explains why they knew where it was installed.
"Was it stolen then?"
"It is the only plausible answer."
It was not destroyed, it was gone. Where else they did went if they were not stolen?
"Lastly, I found traces of familiar poison to the dead bodies. It was the 'disappearing poison' that slowly disappears from the victim's body. If we were a bit late, we would have not known about the poison."
The grey bird pondered.
"Hmm, the person who made the poison has a high leveled alchemist skills."
"Correct."
This type of poison is what the Raven Birds Tribe usually uses when they are commissioned in the assassination. It was high leveled, hard to acquire, and is only acquired after trading with the squirrels.
"They use this 'disappearing poison' to remove traces of this being a planned assassination. Instead, they wanted everyone to think of this as the mutant just running wild, resulting in the Long Fangs annihilation."
"Exactly."
The grey bird sighs.
"And that dome. You saw right?"
"I did."
The two birds look at each other as they have concluded.
"Someone's behind this."
"Yes. Someone is helping the mutant escape and destroy the tribe."
Who created the poison?
Who stole the trigger buttons?
Who made the dome?
Lastly, who freed the mutant?
"Hmm, I have someone in mind."
The grey bird said and nodded to himself.
"It must be that bird."
The grey bird looks confident.
"That bird?"
The blackbird was confused.
That bird? Who is?
Suddenly, an image of a small and weak-looking bird crosses his mind. A certain Bluebird.
"Oh! You mean, that sly bluebird who took down four of our assassins and stole their abilities and some possessions?"
"That's right."
Those four low leveled assassins that the small and weak-looking bird killed effortlessly were hired by someone to kill the bluebird. It was not a high-paying mission though, which is the reason why nobody with high levels and skills in assassination takes it.
In addition, the four assassins may be new to the job, however, all members of the Raven Birds Tribe were trained in assassination ever since they are young as it was everyone's only source of income was through assassination and nothing else.
They knew the basics of assassination and is trained their whole life until they are ready to take the real job. For the bluebird to kill them immediately, it was amusing for these two birds.
These two specific birds happen to survey the area at that time and found the bluebird surrounded by two assassins from the Raven Birds Tribe.
"That bird's name was Azure right? The one who has a deep grudge against his tribe."
They investigate the bluebird because he seems interesting and found out that both his parents were dead. It was said that they were a happy and wealthy family. However, his mother suddenly killed his father one day, resulting in her own head getting cut and branded as a traitor by the tribe.
Why the mother killed the father was still unknown. The bluebird's life went downhill since then.
Additionally, it was said that he was not intelligent, unlike the other bluebirds, and is also weak. The reason why he was placed as a food hunter to make him suffer more.
These two birds were very intrigued by the bluebird since that day.
"It must be him and that mutant."
The blackbird declared.
The tribe basically neglected the bluebird and abuse the mutant. It was enough reason why they would want to annihilate the Long Fangs.
"Well, that kid is insane how he just went on killing four of our boys. He was not weak, nor an idiot."
"I know right?"
The grey bird agreed and then declared.
"Hmm, let's go meet that bluebird."
"Where could he be?"
"Where could someone as sly and greedy as him go right now?"
The blackbird contemplated for a bit before remembering something.
The bluebird is quite greedy and someone who will take advantage of the chaos in the forest. It was quite hard to believe he was running away.
"Oh... could it be, the trade?"
That bluebird stole everything it could from the four assassins it killed. Furthermore, it has a deep grudge against the Long Fangs. The bird will surely hunt down the Acting Chief and the last elder of the Long Fangs, who also happens to be the one who ordered to behead the bird's mother.
"Well, he was very strong despite being a bluebird."
The blackbird shrugged.
The way the bluebird fights was not someone who was only fighting because he had no other choice because he was surrounded by creatures who wanted to kill him. He fights like someone who was only taking it as exercising.
"Right. Now let's get going."
The two fly away, not looking back at the chaotic tribe as they headed for their destination.

Domain of Man
Isolation is terrible. To feel isolated with your fellow man around you is worse. What if you were dumped in some backwards cave somewhere, completely nude, maybe with your family, or even completely alone? The age of pioneers, heroes, generals, and geniuses is long gone. Humankind has become numb to the world around it because of how paltry everything else is compared to the glory of its history, the sheer volume of their accomplishments, and the sum of its innovations. You can interact with people across the world, travel miles in mere hours, and never prepare your own food or shelter, and it's all accessible to even the normalest of individuals. Artificial intelligence is within arms reach in devices and computers and even houses, and neural interfaces aren't exclusive to the rich and powerful at this point. Someone far in the distance took notice of Earth, saw the multitude of hairless apes swarming its surface. That one went down the checklist to see if humanity had, in fact, beaten the 'game' of Life. Sure enough, they had gone above and beyond the requirements, but nobody had been watching. 'Why might that be?', that one wondered. Protocol was protocol, though, no matter how strange the situation was. They pulled the lever, they flipped the switch. It's time for New Game +. ??? Don't be afraid to leave critique or share your support! I really appreciate any feedback you can give. In any case, I sincerely hope you enjoy the story! It's going to be a wild ride. 8 84Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have.
