《I Am The GUIDE》[Vol.1] 0020: Middle Of The Night (1)

After the annoying yet funny conversation with Hugh, Reece decided to be alone for a while. He did not go and find Azure since they have nothing else to discuss and he is also busy because of the aftermath of the feast.
Bluebird Azure also does not have time to chat and entertain Reece.
Sitting on the top of the tree, Reece was lost in deep thoughts.
'This has somehow become chaotic.'
Because of his negligence in his work, Reece has no control of Azure's current plan and decisions.
It is not a lie that Reece was still mad at that Chaos guy for forcing him into this mess, but he was still very worried.
'Haa...'
Reece sighs as he buried his face into his tiny and skinny legs.
When he was still alive, Reece was well known as someone who hates trouble and always likes to find a way faster so that his mind can be at ease. Because the longer his problems and worries get, the more anxious he becomes.
That is the type of person Reece is.
'How annoying.'
Reece stayed still in that position as he reflects.
It was good that Daniel did not try to comfort or say anything to him to ease his mind, which helps Reece a lot. It was exactly what he needs right now—peace of mind.
Then, the morning ends faster at only 9 hours so when all the birds were in deep sleep except the guards, Reece has commenced his search and plans of dismantling the emergency alarms.
Meanwhile, the bluebird Azure said he will go and trace the emergency exit he planned and will draw the map for Reece and Hugh to follow.
'I refuse to be played.'
He was now taking this seriously because if something out of his expectation happens again, it will be out of his grasp. Reece just manages earlier about Azure's plans to deceive him, but he can't do anything about it again if something unexpected happens again. He wanted to avoid that at all costs.
The light on the tribe is not very bright as everyone was now in deep sleep. So it was easier for Reece to fly around without anyone noticing him. Not even the guards notice him because he looks like a fly without the glow on his body.
He easily located the chief's house considering the center is where everyone with influence lives. Obviously, the chief's house was in the middle next to another house used for meetings, the red one and the only house with paint.
Reece decided to try the chief's house first. There is a high possibility that one of the emergency alarms is hidden in his house.

But, before he could near the house, Daniel spoke.
[Report. This house has motion detection for any unknown presence.]
'Motion detection? Is it a device that detects movements?'
[Yes. It is on the lower end than the emergency alarm. It is still a skillfully made device nonetheless. Anyway, it is safe to directly go inside as it cannot detect you.]
'Hmm, is it because I don't have any motion?'
Reece is a spirit, he is a ghost. A ghost is nothing but an invisible presence.
Furthermore, Reece has stayed as a spirit this whole time and has never actually materialized. His soul is simply special as he can do physical touch to the living beings.
He is still a spirit nonetheless.
[Indeed.]
'I see.'
Going in, it was easy to sneak inside the chief's huge house because there were only high-quality curtains made of fur, which probably belongs to a brown bear, covering their window and door hollows.
Everyone as small as Reece could sneak in so easily, unnoticed.
[Report. I found one trigger button that is hidden within the collection of wooden spheres.]
'A trigger button?'
[Correct. There are several trigger buttons as well near this house. Do not worry, I have already analyst how it is connecting to the emergency alarms so it is easier to dismantle them.]
'Great.'
Reece flies up.
Buzz. Buzz.
Reece was flapping his tiny wings as he flies, making a low continuous murmuring sound. It was so quiet that he only hears himself.
He stopped in front of his goal. The wooden spheres.
There, in the space that looks like a living room with only one chair similar to a rocking chair, there was a peculiar wooden sphere in the table beside it. There are a total of 8 wooden spheres gathered on a large wooden plate.
'What peculiar taste.'
It doesn't really look that suspicious.
Although the wooden spheres do not look suspicious, they made the wooden house more like a home even though it is a bit spacious. Yet, it looks weird with having them as the only decoration in the house. The rest is plain.
Also, do not forget the spheres' very peculiar engraves.
'At least they are good at hiding things.'
Reece gets surprised at small things the birds look like they will never do with how uncreative these birds are.
Anyway.
Reece landed on the table.
The spheres look too big when he is now on the ground. It looks scary as it would squish Reece flat on the ground if these balls came running into him.
[The one in the front, is the trigger button.]
The one in front of Reece is.
'Now, what do we do?'
If you just glance at it, especially from afar, you would not suspect anything. However, Reece being so small is an advantage. He was able to see that the sphere in front of him is glued on the wooden plate, unlike the others.
In addition, the engraves on this one look way more detailed and clean than the rest.
[I could see how the configuration is done. Though it looks simple, it is done by someone above average.]
'Hmm... Above average...'
The birds definitely did not make it. Because birds fall to the category 'average' and not 'above.'
'Is it the Sciuridae Tribe?'
It is the only tribe that Reece knew who could create things, like the compressing devices for those who could not lessen their actual sizes.
[There is only a 20% possibility. However, these things use 'energy' in which, as I know, the Sciuridae Tribe unable to do. To be specific, could not do it. They could not create devices such as these as they are not able to properly use energy.]
Daniel explained.
'Energy?'
It was the first time Reece has ever heard of it. Actually, no. It is the first time he heard it in 'this' world.
[Energy. Others, from a different world, also call it 'mana.' It is also used to restrict 'Hugh Ibrahim's strength.]
'Mana...!?'
He was already familiar with mana, considering Reece loves to read novels with fantasy as its main genre.
Typically, mana has one main function. That is, it is used to cover the costs needed to activate certain abilities and magic spells.
'Ah... there is magic here. It just that they can naturally use this 'energy' to sustain their abilities without even knowing how it functions.'
[Correct. About 91% of these animals do not know any magic spells nor how to use them. No—accurately, they are unaware of magic because they already possess 'natural abilities' such as raw strength or 'inherited or obtained ability' that they did not think about developing their power further.]
Raw strength.
Although it looks quite plain, boring, and nothing noble. But once you witness it with your own eyes, you will never say that it was plain ever again after seeing it once. It was extraordinary! Because these animals have their large bodies as an advantage.
Most of these animals are said to have an average height of 40 meters with the largest ever recorded was at 78 meters, in their 'real form.' And it was said to be a legendary 'Black Snake' and was last seen 100 years ago.
Moreover, inherited or obtained ability.
This, on the other hand, is something similar to the bears.
There is no animal with no special ability.
They can inherit it from genetic or obtained it from hard work, luck, or stealing. But the difference of this from the bears is that they could not simply have one and can use it well as it also has to be compatible with the holder.
[Although they do not know there is even energy or 'mana', they can still create devices that naturally absorb 'mana.']
'How did they do that?'
[Through researching, of course. There is this certain 'ore' called 'verdant green' mined by the Great Apes Tribe near the hidden passage to the Elven World. The mountain which these are found has a great concentration of 'mana.']
'Is it cause of the passageway connecting to the Elven World?'
[No, because of the 'Guardian.' At present, these 'verdant green' consists of 'condensed mana.' We can simply call it 'mana stones.' They have found out that it these stone are special and now use it to high-end devices.]
'Guardian...? Now what is this—you know what, forget it. Let's not talk about this for now.'
It is hurting Reece's head thinking about those who have no connection to him.
[Understood.]
'But answer this now. Why does anyone not know about mana? What about the Spirit Guardians? The fairies and such?'
[Answer. Spirit Guardians use divine power. On the other hand, fairies use the power of nature. This is the reason why none of them is familiar with magic. However, elves are different as they can feel mana but cannot use them as they are also with nature.]
'One more. These compressing devices? If it is not magic, how can it help one shrink size?'
'You say it is not magic, then?'
Is what he wanted to convey to Daniel.
[The 'compressing device' was possible due to the material used. Do not forget that this is a 'fantasy world,' which means that there is also some kind of creatures, trees, rocks, flowers, etcetera, that have special capabilities.]
'Is it alchemy?'
[Correct.]
Alchemy does not use magic, which explains.
'I see.'
This energy or 'mana' excites Reece as he loves magic but decided not to be drowned in his greed of quickly learning it so he will be able to use magic too.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Fighting Back The Tide
My first attempt at writing a novel so please go easy on me and constructive criticism and ideas are welcome. This is a story about how the world get turned into an RPG like world and how the MC fights back and explores the new/merged world. There are many like this so apologies if it sounds similar to any others but I have read MANY, MANY fantasy and RPG stories as they are my favourite but stick with me and I promise one heck of a unique ride
