Long ago, for reasons still unknown, the underwater Volcano Mt.Creation erupted. With its eruption came the Gurin Region, formed in a circle around itself. Initially, this left the region in’s a state of nigh inhabitation. Though, with time, the region came to flourish. And with it, came people and Pokémon of all shapes and sizes.

However, not all was well. Five powerful Pokémon, known only as The Island Kings, settled in the furthest reaches of Gurin. Their mere presence was enough to alter the world around them to better suit themselves and their kin. This Warp was greatly feared, as it hurt the existing Pokémon and people. Though it only got worse as it showed little sign of stopping. Soon, people began to fear losing their homes and the calamity that would be the Island Kings fighting for territory.

Thankfully, the disaster was mysterious averted. In what most people agree was caused by the rapid environmental change to the relatively new Gurin, the region split. Specifically, it split into six separate pieces, one mainland and five islands, across ten lines. These ten lines were renamed the Ten Divides and formed the Divided Sea. A barrier that serves to separate the islands and their influence from both each other and the mainland.

However, some people say that this is only a stopgap. That someday soon the Island Kings will grow tired of small pieces of land and come to conquer the rest of Gurin. An event that would almost certainly spell the end as the people and land were destroyed in the ensuing conflict between the Island Kings. Likewise, some people also claim that there will come a hero to protect Gurin in this great time of need and unite the region as it was had been in Ancient Times.

Of course, none of that particularly matters to you beyond the fact that it made for an interesting story. And it was these stories, these myths and legends, that truly caught your attention and awoke a lust for battle. Your name is Tobias Blackwell, orphan and elder brother to Hinata Blackwell. You’ve finally reached majority and are ready to receive a starter. Ready to finally tame myths, battle legends, and conquer a League.
