《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 24 - Route

We took to the trees as soon as we could, jumping from branch to branch, all of us ready to attack. During the movement towards Gener's household, we thought of a plan which we all agreed on. As the sky turned to dark blood orange, Lucyfer held up her right hand, curling it into a fist, we all stopped, only being a few trees away from each other. As the rustling of leaves grew dimmer, and silence to its place, Lucyfer looked at me.
"Dynestar, set up a perimeter," Lucyfer spoke.
I simply nodded and jumped and dived onto the floor, putting my tail in the ground and running in the circle. I then made ice form on my nails, before slitting my right wrist, the blood beginning to flow into the ring. As my wound sealed itself, I had gotten out the red booklet and started to flip through the pages with one hand, before landing on a page.
I knelt, closed my eyes, and put my left hand onto the circle and began to speak.
"May thy not be seen."
"May thy not be sensed."
"May thy not be felt."
"May thy disappear from the world."
"Since the sacrifice is made."
"And the blood cloaks us in a shroud of forgetfulness," I chanted.
As soon as I stopped, I couldn't see anyone in the trees, since they were all inside. But as I entered, I could see them again, perched even higher in the trees than they once were.
What was in the booklet were a collection of blood sacrifice spells I could muster. I didn't ask any questions on how Jododam got it, probably from an old book in his library, which I was grateful. Climbing the tree, I joined the group in their conversation.
"Remember the plan," Lucyfer whispered. "We split into three groups, Abaston and Dynestar will invade from the bottom and sneak us inside, Astaroth and I will wait around here, while Xirax will wait on the highest peak of the castle,"
All of our bodies stood still, waiting for the signal to disperse.
"Good, now disperse," Lucyfer continued.
Abatson and I dropped down heading towards the castle, but not before I interrupted the circle by, stomping my foot into the line and ruining it. The small glow that the ring had emitted disappeared and we kept going. After Abatson and I went through some more foliage, we found the main road, hiding in some bushes and waited. As we did that, I started to whisper to Abatson to make sure he remembered it, as I expected him not to be the smartest out of the group.

"Remember the plan; when two soldiers come along, we'll knock them out and drag them here, understood," I whispered.
"You got it," Abatson replied, smiling, putting a thumbs up with his right hand.
Smiling back, I got out the red booklet and began flicking through the pages again. After finding the page I was looking for, I bit my thumb and poked it on my forehead, doing the same to Abatson. I then started to mutter.
"Oh great red water, bestow upon me a great vision in the night, for the moon may dim, allow us to see like daylight was" I whispered.
I then repeated the same to Abatson. As I blinked my eyes a few times, they adjusted quickly; I could now see in the dark. I looked towards Abatson to know that he was also struggling with the new lighting, although much more than me.
After blinking a few more times, Abatson got used to the lighting and asked me a question.
"What was that?" Abatson asked me quietly.
"The book that Jododam gave me had 'quotes' from long lost scripts; he put them into a small booklet," I muttered quickly. "These 'quotes' were used by high ranking vampires used to demolish many lives. It's also believed that saying these 'quotes' makes the spell stronger,", I put the book back where I stored it.
"Well. that is a lot of detail,"
"Good, now let me concentrate,"
I then activated my elf eyes and looked ahead of the main road. I saw two guards walking past; I signalled Abatson that they were coming towards us. He nodded and sunk into the earth, something I found rather intriguing. I placed myself high in a tree and summoned my incarnate weapon, this time appearing as the same red knife from the fight with Astaroth. As the two guards got closer, I tightened my grip on the blade.
They got so close that I could hear their footsteps if I focused. Afterwards, I heard rumbling noises followed by screaming. Knowing that was my queue, I dashed towards the group of two, and hit them with my tail, knocking them out. Abatson and I then dragged them into the woods and placed them onto a bright space in it.

I undressed the soldiers to no damage their armour and placed them to my right. Afterwards, I cut one of the guards left arms off, halfway to the shoulder, making him bleed out. As I looked away from the horror, I turn back a while later to see that the bleeding had dwindled. I threw the arm away, before crouching down.
I then started to flick through the pages to find a specific page, while doing this Abatson began to ask questions.
"Dynestar, why did you make one of the soldiers bleed out?" Abatson asked me, "I know that you need the blood, but what would take that much?"
"There is a spell in this book which allows me to collect information, although it requires a lot of blood, I didn't want to use mine because it would leave me useless," I replied.
"Oh that reminds me, Lucy asked me to give you this as well,"
Abatson then threw me a little water pouch. I caught the bag and wondered what was different than any average liquid holder.
"Before you ask, it's something known as blood pouch, made with the skin of a snake leech, it expands when it absorbed blood, just letting you know," Abatson continued.
I simply nodded then headed back to find the page. After seeing it, I sighed in disbelief. I dipped my hands in the blood puddle and ran it across the guard, even touching his undergarments as well. Placing my right hand on his forehead, I began to focus on the spell.
"The mental image of slumber, may thy enter and talk with thou inner self, exchange the nectar of all life by stealing, mind invasion," I whispered.
I opened my eyes to see that I was in the person's mind. I was an array of forever changing colours; it took a small amount of time to get used too. The booklet only had the incantations needed for the spells, not how they worked. Not knowing I was doing, I started to yell out.
"Show me memories that have relevant information in the past day!" I yelled.
The mind turned black for a second, it went back to normal but with one memory. I touched it, making it almost seemed like I absorbed it. What had just happened was that instead of looking through the memory, I stole it and added it to my own.
I yelled "release!" and blinked. When my eyes opened, I saw that I was back where I was.
I turned my head towards Abatson and asked him a question.
"How long was I out?" I asked him.
"Less than a second, it just looked like you opened your eyes after you said the words," He replied.
"So there is a time difference when I'm in mind,"
"Probably, if you stayed in there for longer, I could've seen it most likely,"
"Well then, I got the information we needed,"
"So then, what do we do?"
"We disguise ourselves as these guys, wearing their armour and all that. We come back to base when the moon is the highest; we then return to our quarters which we share, we'll go from there,"
"Understood,"
Before I did anything else, I placed the blood pouch on the disembodied limb I had cut off and noticed that it began to swell.
During that, Abatson and I started to put the armour on, checking on the guards to make sure they didn't wake up. As we put on the helmets, we looked back at the bare-naked bodies, me grabbing my blood pouch and hiding it in the breastplate. Abatson clapped his hand and then put them on the ground. The earth around the bodies started to engulf them, crushing them, making it seem like nothing ever happened here.
I nodded at Abatson, and we exited the woods as we started to walk around Gener's castle, waiting for the assault to begin.
