《Midnight Rose ( The Rose Series: Book 1)》Chapter 6: KJ

I spent the last week or so locked away in my bedroom. I stared out the window watching the sun set. After the incident with Sasha I was scared to show my face. I was scared that I would have been sent back down to the cells. There was a knock on my door. “Go away,” Lilly and Diedrick tried everyday to get me to come out of my room. I was expecting to give up by now. The knock came again but louder. “I said go away.” I moved from the window into the bathroom, locking myself in. I slid down the door and hugged my knees to my chest.
The sound of the doorknob to the bedroom could be heard jiggling. I heard the door open and footsteps walking towards the bathroom. A small knock sounded on the door.
“KJ please open the door.” Lilly’s voice rang on the other side of the door. I didn’t say anything. “Either you open this door or I’ll have Niklaus kick down the door.” She wouldn’t dare. I stayed where I was not uttering a word. I heard Lilly sigh along with a few footsteps. The other door to the bathroom went flying off its hinges. Yes she would dare. I stared at the door in shock, imagining what would have happened if I was sitting in front of that door instead of the one I was. Niklaus walked in and looked around. The minute he noticed where I was at, he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Thank goddess I decided to kick in that door and not this one.” He released his hand from his head and flat palmed pointed at the door that was still attached to the door frame. Lilly walked in and crouched in front of me. I turned my face to the side not wanting to look at her. She grabbed my chin and made me look at her.
“You need to come out of this room,” she spoke softly, “everyone is worried about you.” Niklaus huffed, “even if some of them don’t want to admit it.” Lilly glared up at Niklaus for a second and brought her attention back to me. Her crystal blue eyes held sorrow in them. “You can’t keep yourself locked away in here.” She let go of my chin, standing up and holding out her hand waiting for me to grab it. I hesitated on grabbing her hand. “Come on we are going to be having a movie night in the at home movie theater. You are joining us and I am not going to take ‘no go away’ as an answer.” I glared at her while grabbing her hand. She pulled me up off the ground and spun me around to face the door. Niklaus was the first to walk out of the bathroom, while Lilly waited for me to follow after Niklaus.
“It’s not like I can lock myself in here,” I motioned toward the door laying on the floor.
“I gave you a warning.” She shrugged her shoulders and grabbed my arm leading me out of my room into the hallway. We walked towards the staircase, proceeding to head up to the next floor of the house. Once we got to the third floor, we took a right and headed to the very end of the hallway to a set of black doors. Niklaus opened the left door and waited for Lilly and I to get in the room first. When I walked into the room, I noticed a huge TV on the wall. Three rows of black chairs in the middle of the room with five chairs per row. Lilly ushered me to go to the front of the room where the TV was at. Once I got to the front row of chairs, I noticed Diedrick and Ryker sitting in two of the chairs. Ryker gave me a nasty look when he noticed me. I haven’t even done anything wrong to him. Diedrick got up from his seat and went towards Lilly, putting his arm around her shoulders.

“So what type of movie are we wanting to watch?” Diedrick questioned. Lilly looked towards me, signaling me to pick.
“Umm I don’t know,” I shrugged my shoulders, “how some disney movie?” I heard Ryker let out a frustrated groan. I glared dagger at him, “Do you have a problem with disney movies?”
“As a matter of fact I do,” he stood from his seat and got in my personal space. “Disney movies are for kids,” he stared down at me, “why don’t we watch a scary movie instead. Unless you are scared.” A hand came in between us.
“How about we watch both?” Diedrick spoke up, “this way everyone is happy.” Ryker huffed and went to sit back in his seat. “We will watch a Disney movie first and then a scary movie.” Lilly grabbed my arm and guided me to the chairs. She sat down and patted the seat next to her. I took a seat, noticing there were buttons on the arm rests of the chair. I decided to press one of the buttons and got spooked when the bottom of the chair started to move up.
Lilly laughed at me, “they are recliner chairs.” She proceeded to recline her chair back. The TV turned on and there were different apps on the screen. I didn’t notice who was controlling the TV as both Nicklaus and Diedrick were standing facing the TV. The app saying Disney+ was clicked on and a bunch of little pictures with names under them popped up. I recognized Lilly and Nicklaus’ name out of the names that were up there. Suddenly the screen on the tv changed to show a bunch of movies on them.
“So what movie?” Niklaus turned his head back to us, keeping the front of his body towards the TV.
“How about none of those,” Ryker sneered.
“Good thing I wasn’t asking you,” Niklaus growled out, “now girls what movie would either of you like to watch?” Ryker let out a soft growl as he leaned back into his chair crossing his arms over his chest. “Oh shut it. You will get to pick your scary movie after this one.” Nicklaus snapped his head towards Ryker.
“How about we watch Jungle Cruise?” Lilly spoke up before anything else could be said between the two. Shortly after the TV screen had the movie up and ready to play. Diedrick went to take a seat next to Ryker, which surprised me. I thought he would sit next to Lilly. Niklaus took a seat in the row behind us, sitting directly behind Lilly and I. The lights started to dim in the room and when I looked over at where the light switch was I saw Blade. I turned back towards the tv and shrunk into my seat.
Lilly took note of this and whispered in my ear, “you have nothing to worry about with him.” I heard footsteps behind me, turning around I saw Blade take a seat next to Niklaus.
“We can start the movie now” Blade glanced at me for a second before bringing his attention to the TV. I turned back around when I started to hear the movie play.

Halfway through the movie, I sensed someone staring at me. When I turned my head around, I saw a white light in the shape of a human sitting next to Blade. The light had no face to it. It brought its hand up to where its mouth would be and held up a finger. Is it telling us to be quiet? The light then pointed towards the TV before leaning its head on Blade’s shoulder.
That must be the spirit of his dead mate. I did a slight nod agreeing with Lilith and faced back towards the movie. I zoned out for the rest of the movie, trying to figure out why on earth I was able to see a spirit. I began to wonder if it had anything to do with seeing the blonde boy that would suddenly disappear. I was so deeply in thought, I did not notice we started to watch another movie. When I came back to reality, there was a clown holding red balloons on the screen.
The movie went on for about another hour before it ended. Everyone got up from their seats and the lights came back to full brightness. My body felt stiff from sitting so long. We all made our way towards the door.
“We should all go for a run,” Lilly suggested. I felt Lilith prancing around at the thought. It sounded like a good idea. I was about to tell Lilly that I would love to go on a run, but I felt someone put their hand on my shoulder. I looked to see it was Blade.
“Why don’t you four go ahead, I would like to speak with KJ for a moment.” Lilly and the rest nodded and headed out the door. “Come on, we will talk in my office.” Blade proceeded out the room and down the hall while I followed. The whole time walking down the hall, all I could think was how I was most likely in trouble for what happened at the training grounds. We reached the other end of the hallway and Blade opened a door. I walked inside and Blade followed in after me, closing the door. “You can sit on the couch if you want.” I walked towards the couch, flopping down on it. I kept my eyes on the ground not wanting to look up.
“Look I’m sor…” I didn’t get to finish my sentence.
“You have nothing to be sorry about.” I heard the scratching of chair legs on the wooden floor. Looking up, I saw Blade sitting in a chair in front of me. “You haven’t done anything wrong to be sorry about.” Except for putting Niklaus in the hospital. “I brought you here to talk about when you were wanting to go back to the training grounds with Niklaus.”
“I’m pretty sure the trainees probably don’t want me back there.” I eyed the ground again. I heard Blade sigh.
“Actually quite the opposite,” I snapped my head up so fast I probably got whiplash. Blade smirked, “they've been saying that they missed you this past week.” He leaned back in his seat and by the look of it trying to hold in a laugh, “something about how they enjoyed seeing Niklaus get his ass handed to him for once.” Now it was my turn to hold in my laugh. “Plus if they didn’t like you, they would have lied about how the fight broke out.”
“I guess I could go back the next time Niklaus goes.” I smiled as Blade got up from his chair. I got up as well. He led me towards the door, proceeding to open it as well.
“I’m glad to hear that and I will let Niklaus know.” I walked out the door as he stayed behind, “you can go join the others on the run. I can mindlink them that you will be joining them.” I nodded before I headed towards the stairs. “Oh and try to stay away from Sasha. She is no longer in the pack jail cells.” I turned towards him as he shut the door. Before he fully shut the door, I saw a glimpse of the white light that was in the in-home movie theater. I shook my head and proceeded back towards the stairs. When I got to the last flight of stairs, I saw the boy with blonde hair but this time he was running around with a boy that had brown hair. The brown-haired boy looked familiar.
He kind of looks like Ryker. I agreed with Lilith, but how could that be possible. The boys ran towards the front door. As soon as they got close to the door, the door opened up causing the boys to vanish in thin air. There was yelling as Ryker came walking it with Niklaus right behind him. My head instantly started to hurt and my vision became blurry. My balance came uneven and I felt myself leaning forward. I heard one of the guys yell out towards me. My body started to fall forward, but before I could hit the ground I felt someone catch me. I could not make out who caught me due to how blurry my vision became. So enough everything went black with the last thing I heard, “Go get the pack doctor now!”
