《Blue mage》Chapter 5: The monster in the woods
Advertisement
“It’s been a week since the system has taken over,” Luke says to the group of around 1,000 people who have joined his village. “We have constructed a village in this short time and started to connect with other groups just like ours. The scouting groups have met with 3 other groups. The first is called Haven, the second is Wolford, and the third is Norwich. Yesterday we voted on some names for our own town. The winner was Llyn.” Cries of frustration and shouts of joy could be heard for a second before Luke raised his hand to silence them. Luke lowers his hand before continuing his speech, “We’ve entered an alliance with both Haven and Wolford but Norwich insists they’ll be fine.” Somemore clamor. “Given we have already built ou town with great help from James and his kids,” Luke says with a nod at them, “I’ve agreed to build the roads connecting out great towns.” Silence for a couple of seconds before the crowd erupts into cheers. Luke looks at his people and sheds one tear before silencing them again. “One last thing before we start to work on the road. There has been something hunting the steel wolves around the settlements. Given the traces left it is believed that the creature is a wyvern or drake. Make sure to take care while in the forest while we build the new roads.” With that Luke went back to work managing the logistics of the new project.

“YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS!” was heard across the entire forest as I sunk to my knees with tears rolling down my face. I had finally gotten another skill. It took over 300 wolves as the stronger I got the less percentage I gained. Around me were the dead bodies of what I can only assume were the strongest wolves around as they were 5 feet tall. They couldn’t even hurt me. I pulled up my status screen.

Looking over my stats I was almost twice as good as before and my resilience was crazy high. I did notice that the wolves stopped being able to hurt me about a day ago. Still shedding tears of joy I stand upright as a new wave of notifications pop up.
[Rejoce, Humanity has made it one week in this new world and even started to rebuild what was lost. For your prowess, you will be rewarded with the coming of the Village system and new and more powerful monsters that will spawn far from your village. Only the brave will seek this opportunity to gain more strength. Good luck!]
My eyes zoomed in on the “new and more powerful monster” I could finally get to test my newfound power on these monsters. I could hardly wait.

Ryan was confident that his group was on the pinnacle of what humanity had to offer. His group had fought almost one hundred wolves during the first week and we're all level 12 or higher. They fought had their way up this mountain that was covered in monsters and therefore experience. They had encountered goblins, a 20-foot long snake, and a really big spider. For one week they had explored and mapped out this mountain under the orders of Luke. Ryan was 100% sure that they could handle anything. That was until they came across the fight he was watching now. Two monstrously tall beings slugging it out. One looked like a human but his arms and legs were covered in scales. The other was clearly a cyclops as it only had one eye.

The location was clearly not a clearing before the fight as broken and splintered logs lay all about, the ground was cracked, and craters were everywhere.
The cyclops were barely fighting back when Ryan had first found the fight. Now it was a bloody wreak barely standing up. The scaled one’s hand shot out and grabbed the skull of the cyclops and started to smash his elbow into the cyclops face for a second before it pushed him off. The scaled one only smiled before he charged back into the fight tackling the cyclops. The scaled one quickly establishes dominance in this wrestling match. Soon it had pinned down the cyclops before taking a deep breath. A bar of liquid fire pours out of the mouth of the scaled one. The beam of fire temporarily blinded Ryan but when his vision came to the cyclops head was gone and there was only scorched earth behind it for about 40 feet. The scaled one smiled showing his sharp triangular teeth grabbed the cyclops and started to eat it.
Ryan and his team ran in complete and total fear.

I don’t think I can explain how good cyclops tasted after mainly eating those metallic wolves for two weeks. The wolves just tasted like steel. Cyclops on the other hand tastes wonderful and I could hardly wait to hunt another.
[Roar(Common) 10%]
The cyclops wasn’t the only creature to give me a skill. I had started 2 other skills and I couldn’t wait to finish. I got a couple of percent in a web-making skill from a spider and something called mana body, it’s an ancient rarity skill but I got no clue what it does. I got it from this weird snake that was stronger than I was. Took me ten minutes to grab it by the tail and start whipping it around till it died.
By this point, I had eaten about half of the cyclops and felt like hunting again. I really wanted that mana body skill so snake hunting it was.

Luke was working on future plan for his town when a man, Ryan if he recalled correctly, barged into the town hall panting and sweating weakly gasping “Need to see Luke.” Getting up Luke moves to the man and helps him down into a chair. After the man regains his breath he regals Luke of what happened. Of the scaled monster that could decimate a cyclops. Luke was stunned for a moment as there shouldn’t be a scaled monster like Ryan was describing. Is it a boss? Given its ability to one sidely kill a cyclops at least tier 1, maybe tier 2? This was really bad. His town could hardly handle a cyclops let alone a tier 2 boss. Luke looked Ryan in the eye and said, “Leave it to me.”

Rise for the Sky [Slow-Pace Multi-Lead Dungeon Crawler]
Sixty people have awoken at the bottom of a one hundred floor dungeon. Together they must confront the terror of monsters and seek the answers to why they are here. Expectations: This story is written from multiple perspectives, male and female. Most chapters are a single person, but there will be chapters where there are a couple of quick scenes with different people. The story does take place in a dungeon, but there is no leveling system. This a realistic take on the classic litRPG and iskai tropes written like a traditional novel. There is a profanity warning because I wish to be natural with how people talk and cursing is a thing people do. So it will happen where it makes sense. Gore is warned because this is a realistic take, and people will be torn apart by monsters. I don't plan to be overly detailed with it but be warned it will happen. Updates Every Monday. Chapters will be between 3,000 to 5,000 words. Fulfill Patreon goals to increase updates

8 127Dream Theater
Long casted shadows danced in the background, as a man squibbled and jotted words on yellow papers. A mere novelty, remnant and ghost that was left to age away along with the forgotten theater, a man grasped for inspiration to salvage what was left of his soul. Abandoned in the squalid room, Pxan was left hauntedly in the furthest corners of insanity that bubbled in his mind. No one would listen to his plight, denouncing him and claiming his mind was not right. Even though the world left him with nothing, turning their backs to him, he knew the books would never betray him in the same fashion. Faceless pages and books yet to be read ogled puppy eyes, ready to be penned by the madman. “Pxan! Pxan! Over here! To me!” Clamored the unpublished manuscripts. Pxan’s fingers quivered nervously, thoughts of failure flooded his mind. Wanting to surrender to the pressure. “No!” He cried. “I’ve had enough of writing.” Books with eyes all stared at him, begging for the tales to be written. Their pleaful eyes were all that Pxan needed to be moved to writing again. The man sighed and raised his pen again, stroking the first letters of inspiration that bore fruit from his mind. A maddening tale of a policeman, cultists and a violent revenge… -Currently on Hiatus while writing the second volume. The first volume is up. I will take a few days to rewrite a few chapters. Afterwards, updates will proceed as usual.Current rewrite progress 17/59 chapters rewrited. This is my first real novel, any kind of criticism or feedback is appreciated. 8 164After the End: Serenity
We all want to believe we are heroes of our own story - unless we want to be the villain, of course. At the end of everything, the Final Reaper decided he hadn’t been a hero. Driven by a desire to right the wrongs he was subjected to, he killed everyone who wronged him or his people - which turned out to be everyone that wasn’t killed by someone else first. He'd won - but it was a hollow victory. Eventually, Order’s Voice found a way out. If the only existing being would agree to give up most of his power, the Voice could reset the multiverse to an earlier time with a few minor changes. Of course, the Voice couldn't ask it that way. It could only ask if the Final Reaper was willing to start over from when Earth was first brought into Order. It was an easy decision, and yet it wasn’t. Was he willing to go through eons of pain again to not be alone? Yes. In a heartbeat. Not that his heart beat anymore. Now it would. Perhaps he could even be a hero, this time. When he landed in his old body - more or less - on Earth, the Final Reaper once again became Thomas. He was both and neither. He needed a new name for a new life. Serenity. ------------------------------------------ While this is technically a System Apocalypse story, it's a System Apocalypse that is designed to have a large percentage of the population survive and prosper. There are a lot of problems that come with the appearance of the Voice, and it's entirely possible to lose. Earth has some special opportunities, but also special challenges. The first time around, Earth won the first round and lost the second. Serenity has ten years from when the Voice arrives to prevent that from happening. It will be a group effort; Serenity can't win alone - which is difficult for someone who's been alone for as long as he has. Of course, that's only his second priority. ------------------------------------------- Updates Daily A note on the nonhuman lead tag: He isn't human, and hasn't been human for a very, very long time (or maybe not long at all, depending on how you count it). He still thinks of himself as human, either way. The content warnings are mostly to give me room to write; this fiction is not intended to be edgy, but once in a while a character will swear or someone will get seriously injured. The cover image is a Chandra/Hubble composite image of VV 340 / Arp 302 / UGC 9618. While we're not going to space itself any time soon in the story, people from elsewhere are coming to Earth and Serenity will visit other planets. Plus, I like space imagery. 8 505Immortal System: Era of Adventure
First came the era of magic. Next came the era of the system. From the system came the era of divine spirits. The beginning and end of an era is not known until an era is gone. Zane stands at the beginning of the era of adventure. This story is about the experiences he will have in this era. First arc Zane spent more than half of his life preparing for a future with the system. One day the system invited everyone to participate in a trial that was rumored to have creatures from other worlds. The rumors made Zane hesitant about participating, but he decided to go in the end. He knew the trial would offer him the strength he desired, and he had no intention of missing the opportunity. The first arc is about Zane's experiences in the starting village and how they shape his path. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
