《Freedom in the New World》Happy Farms

Takeda, Hell, and James arrived on the third floor of the guild base. When they arrived Hell once again marveled at all James had accomplished. James was surprised to see Sasha on the third floor, her long auburn hair flowing in the wind.
He had worked very hard to ensure that there was wind on this floor. Trees that grew without wind, never reached maturity. The wind pushed them to become stronger, and so without that force they grow to the point where they simply break under their own weight. (This is true look it up.)
“Hey Sasha enjoying the view?” James asked causing her to turn. “It’s amazing! I reminds me of some picture I once saw from the Old West in America.” James did admit the homes did have that older feel to them, but that was only until he started deciding which races went on which farms. Then he would be changing the homes to better fit its inhabitants. Not to mention all the magic commodities he had planned to install in the homes.
“Sasha this is Hell. Could you do me a favor and show him around? I have some work I need to do with Takeda here.” James turned to Hell, but he held no complaints. “I would be most grateful to be given a tour by such a beautiful women.” Is what Hell said. “Sure, I don’t mind. You’re not too bad yourself.” Sasha said with a wink towards Hell, then she turned around swaying her hips and hold up he right hand over her right shoulder and with a single finger gestured for him to follow. He turned to James clasped his hands together with a smile in a gesture of thanks, then ran like death was on his heels after Sasha.
James and Takeda had a good laugh about it, then they proceeded to get to work. James showed Takeda where and what he wished to do. It only took half an hour for them to set up the appropriate water controls in each home. The access point in each home was a large plate sized slate of opaque crystal. When someone touched the crystal, whoever was authorized it would light up and display a variety of things that it could control. For now, it was just the gate wards to control water flow to that farm’s fields.
James however set it up so that he could link other functions to these small home networks when the need arose. The magical AC, and appliances for example, which he still had to install, but that came after the NPC’s were here.
James was feeling lazy, so he placed all the fencing he had made into his inventory and then used the system to place it. It reminded him of that old game Clash of Clans the way the system pulled up a map of the floor allowing him to place the fencing more easily and quickly.
James turned to Takeda, “Want to stay for the creation of the first NPC on this floor?” “I would love to, but I have other things I must attend to, good luck!” with his words he smiled, opened his menu, and logged out.
James flew to the large home on the island in the middle of the floor. He pulled out his creator tools and clicked the option for NPC creation. It took him a while of scrolling to find a race close enough to what he was looking for. He chose and what appeared before him was a large creature that appeared much like a minotaur. Except instead of being a cross of bull and man this creature appeared to be a more fluid mixing of horse and human.

It stood about 6-feet tall, with the head of a horse, cloven feet, human hands, and haired skin resembling that of a normal horse. As James inspected the NPC, he noticed that he also had a large main of hair, just like a horse. The Anthropomorphic horse man wore nothing but a loin cloth, which held a noticeable bulge. “Damn, I bet some women had real fun designing this race.”
He looked at this NPC trying to decide a name for him, then it clicked. The name of the trainer of all great hero’s, Chiron. James quickly typed in the name and confirmed it.
James moved onto the next NPC he had wished to create, temporarily leaving Chiron as level 1. He used the creator tools again and once more was scrolling looking for the right race. He found it after a good minute, Immortal Human.
He clicked the option and designed the woman he held in his memories. A person most dangerous, the so-called god of the Shinobi world, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. He made sure to give her the eyes she was supposed to have all three of them. He wrote in her name and began typing her back story.
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki
A women cast from the world she knew and sealed away by her own children, only to feel a great pull towards another. She awoke in a land she did not know, which individuals whose power rivaled her own. Her power she found she could not use it. Before her and to her right stood humanoid creatures, she had never seen before.
The one to her side was weak but the one in front of her, she could feel his strength. She could sense his power, and she could see he was without limits.
She was powerless and it frightened her.
James paused for a moment and held her cheek in his palm, “Be not afraid. For here you shall find life and love eternal, a true family to call your own.” He continued typing.
He had spoken to her with words of such kindness. She would forever remember his words. Such beautiful promises. She had trouble believing him. Who was he? What was this place? All questions she felt he would answer with time.
James was done with her backstory for now. He would add more to it as time went on. James looked at the two of them, they would be living together in this home, so they might as well be made to love each other. James made the two to face each other and look at one another, then added to both their back stories, “They fell in love with each other the moment they laid eyes on them.”
Kaguya was wearing simple basic clothes, he would have to change that later. He moved them into the house. James left them standing in the main living room of the home, looking at each other. Before he walked out of the door, he turned back to them, “I’m going now, I will return later.”
James was done for the day. He had nothing more that he could do now. He had to assign the farms to people, decide which races would go there, what they would do and so on. James pulled up his status to check his fund and noticed his level, 36. He only had four more levels until the Job Change quest if that was still the same anyway. The admin must be busy she had not given him a new quest to replace the old Daily quest yet.

James closed the door behind him. He walked to what should be the edge of the island but was instead just a hill in the middle of a crater. So, James opened his base panel, he made sure every gate to every field was shut. Then he turned on the water works. It took him a few minutes to fly to the edge of the floor to see if it was working.
When he got there, he saw a thin layer of water flowing in the stone canal that encircled the entire floor. James made the water erupt from the gem, he continued to do so until the jests of water threatened to escape the canal. He sat on the fence and simply watched the water flow as he quietly contemplated.
It took an hour for the water level in the canal to rise enough for James. As the water had reached a depth of four and a half feet, he turned off the warding keeping the water confined to the outer ring of the floor. Within a single minute the water level in the canal had fallen to only about an inch. James flew over to check on the lake.
The lake seemed only at about a quarter of its maximum capacity. It would take some time for him to be able to fill this lake. In the meantime, James opened the normal players shop. He flew down into the still filling lake and began buying fish. He had to be careful though, he read the description of each row of them before buying any from that row.
James wanted this floor to be a place people could live. After about 20 minutes of reading and buying a few of the occasional species of fish, James left the filling lake and stood on the stone path that encircled the entire lake.
James noted that he should design a script that would allow this floor to maintain the lakes water level, without supervision. He could probably implement that script into Chiron, to help him maintain the floor.
James thinking he would never get back to it, quickly purchased one of the more advanced scripting tools from the normal players store and proceeded to create and implement that script into Chiron, along with a fairly sophisticated fighting script that he gave a redesign. The whole process took about an hour.
By the time that he was done he could see two people walking down the path from the stair to the second floor. James flew across to the shore of the lake. He had, had the time to contemplate at least a few of the people he would be making today.
He looked to the two farms that bordered the circular center walkway of the floor, on either side of the Norther path. He decided to start on the right. The fist people he would make would be the others like Chiron. James pulled out the creator’s tool once more and this time when he selected the race, he pressed the times 100 modifier.
He had set it so that there would be a ratio of 60/40 in their population. 40 males, 60 females. He had not used any of the presets for them, instead letting the system work a little randomness and variation into each of them. No two were completely alike. They appeared like many a different breeds of horsed made humanoid.
James would simply be making a few of the people today. He ordered them all to follow him as he walked through the open gate into the large grassy pasture that bordered the walkways. He order them to remain there closing the gate behind him.
He continued moving right, he started in the pasture this time to make things faster. The next race he chose was the elves. Once more James hit the times 100 modifier and 100 level 1 elves appeared before him.
He flew up and looked among them. There were sun elves, dark elves, wild elves, and a few others mixed in. He ensured that there were at least four of each type of elf. He realized had to fix a few problems that were almost inherit to all elves.
He chose from among them one that was for the most part unremarkable, save for his eyes. He was just a generic elf, one of his eyes had a look to it reminiscent of polished and shining gold, while the other seemed to be an ocean you could get lost in. It was blue with flecks of green mixed in. He landed in from of the elf and began to add to him.
Terran SilverWood
Elves are too proud a people for their own good, it is a trait you will not share with them. He who will lead elves to prosperity through cooperation with other races.
James immediately moved Terran over until he was outside the large group of elves. James pulled some spare Ironwood armor and tools from his inventory and got the elf to equip them. He had Terran turn around and face his new people.
James smiled; he would have to work on the elves to help keep their almost inherit flaws from coming out when they arrived in the New World.
James moved right again, the race he would choose this time would be Humans. He stood in the pasture of what would become their farm, their home, and pressed the button. When they appeared, there were humans of all different races, shapes, and sizes. James located the people who were short, and those who were fat. It did not take him that long to fix those issues. A few outliers were too tall, so he adjusted their heights to be more in line with normal human heights.
James did not mind most of what he had seen, he was not racist, but he had heard of watched video about the health consequences for being overweight and being excessively tall. He wanted these people to be happy and healthy. He wanted them to lead long fruitful lives, which is why he adjusted those aspects and not others.
James moved right to the fourth and final pasture that bordered the circular center path around the lakes border. In this one he decided to put Rabbit folk.
“Rabbit Men are a race that have cute and androgynous features despite their genders. Humanoid rabbits with features of both human and rabbit.” That was the description the system gave for the rabbit folk. (This is information from the Overlord Wiki.)
Obviously, he would have them be carrot farmers. This would work well since the horse folk would be living right next door. Much like the other creatures he had made today, each was different from the rest. They were for the most part humans with bunny ears and rabbit tails.
Like the humans the rabbit folk came in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. They appeared like many different human ethnicities. James quickly fixed any problems that he saw and the smiled as he looked out upon all he had done today.
James left the pasture and returned to the lakeside. The lake appeared to be about halfway full now. He heard footsteps behind him. It sure took a long time to get around this floor if you could not fly. James smiled at that; he was a little smug.
James turned to see them talking as they walked. They were smiling and joking. It seemed that they had really hit it off. Hell smiled at her, turned to James, and waved. Then he opened his console and logged out.
“I see you guys really hit it off.” James said as Sasha was a few steps away. She simply acted like a girl in love, before slapping her cheeks with her hand and logging out before more could be said.
James turned to the island in the middle of the lake taking in the view. An idea crept into the fore front of his mind, he looked from the island to the farms and back. “A tree of life!” James said shocked he had not thought of it sooner.
James flew back to the island. He pulled out his creation tools and created four enormous trees. Each halfway between the bridges leading on and off the island. (So, the trees are in the North East, North West, South East, and South West edges of the island.)
For each tree he created a level one dryad. He named each of the tree’s, “Tree of Life.” It was expensive, costing 400 million gold, but he managed to get the trees to do exactly what he wanted. These large trees with trunks that seemed composed of hundreds, thousands of tube-like structures woven together and twisted as they spiraled upward. The leaves of the trees glittered like light refracting from crystals.
Each tree radiated an aura of health and vitality. It would be a great help and would allow the plants on the floor to flourish, as well as the people on this floor. With the fact that he already had a fair amount of control over the climate on this floor, he would probably be able to grow crops year-round.
He would certainly be able to do that if he could obtain a rod that let him imbue the sixth-tier spell, Control Weather, into a ward. When he investigated if such an item was in the normal player store, he was shocked to find there actually was one. With a price of 600 million he was iffy on buying it. Then he noticed that for 1 billion he could obtain a rod capable of imbuing wards with spells of up to and including the tenth tier.
James bit his lip and looked over his finances. He had 1,436,953,500 gold to spend. It was a gamble, but one he was willing to make. When prompted to purchase the item it gave him the option to purchase it for real cash. James stared at the cash price of the item and said, “Goodbye bonus”, and so he bought the 10th tier warding rod with real cash, 1000 USD.
James remembered how Ainz had described Yggdrasil as pay to win, he was certainly right about that.

Contact Through Voided Lenses
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Edit: Fixed some inaccuracies in the synopsis. The void is a vast unexplored ocean filled with various wonders and dangers all waiting to be explored by those brave enough to travel and record. Many souls do find themselves brave enough to face the vast distances, the various risks to personal safety and do the hundreds of task required on a craft. However, at times the void itself can be boring with absolutely nothing to do but as time pass and more and better technology is reached, things got better. The various trips got faster, communications became faster than light and you can be home to see your loved ones after only months now. Through the various planets whether rocky or gaseous, the various stars whether small or giant, the various systems both eerily similar or completely alien. As part of an expeditionary scientific exploratory survey craft, one could see that the void offers no reprieve from all the discoveries and wonders. At times, it can feel empty and silent where no soul can hear you scream and at others it can be overwhelming with sudden phenomenon that can overwhelm the brightest of minds. The void itself is a truly fascinating ocean where one must chart the various islands or drown in its deadly tidal waves. But the question still remained no matter how you try to hide it in of itself… is there truly other intelligent life out there? Are we alone in this ocean? Those very questions still haunt the minds of those on the crafts themselves as they brace for every jump ready for the unknown and the known. Many would try to explain that yes there is other intelligent life out there whilst other still say no after 2 centuries of continuous flight out of the home system. Still, those are questions that bury deep in the minds of the crew and those at home as the voidcraft jumps to a system with a single yellow star orbited by 8 other planets with one crowning blue jewel being the 3rd closest with its 5 oceans and 7 continents, a planet called Dirt which is inhabited by a primitive species called Humanity. Hello, author here and this is my newest dive into writing particularly for the Writathon currently in progress being my first one. I hope you give me story a try but in case you still want more information on what you’re getting into, below are some pointers about the story itself. First Contact: CTVL is a story about a first contact scenario between an advanced alien civilization and a slightly more advanced modern day humanity on their planet called Dirt. Characters: The story will take place mainly on the perspective of the alien visitors themselves though there will be human POV characters who will show how the rest of humanity react through media and forums. Action: It won’t be an actual alien invasion but you have to see for yourself how well first contact went. Sci-Fi: I will be very forward here, I WILL bend the rules of physics in order to add in parts of the plot and there WILL be parts that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Theme: It will be a brooding story talking about the futility of pe… Just kidding, it’s mostly wholesome stuff to be honest here. Alien: The aliens themselves will… actually why should I tell you, you have to go and read it to find out what the aliens are though I will draw a few things here and there to aid in the process. Extra tidbit: If you are a grammar nazi or someone who really wants a realistic scifi story... this story is probably not for you at all. Anyways, that’s pretty much all I can say before I spoil something major of the plot itself, the story is slice of life so make sure that type of story is what you like because I am terrible with anything else as I found out, anyways, have a good time everyone and good luck to the other Writathon participants.
