Chapter Five: Anther Reincartnor
Year 5, Month 2, Week 3, Day 2
The humans had come back, I wonder why didn’t die. Will since he came back for his death I would give to him. I wonder if he learned anything interesting.
Sending a prob of Mana at him turned out surprising. It seems like he had mental protection now, not like it would stop me since I have been practicing. I sent a little more Mana and I was in.
They didn’t come here for a fight this time. They came here to show the Mayor of the city where I was. I guess that’s who the curly hair guy was next to him. They were here so the Mayor could guess my power level. I knew how to hide it but I didn’t since I didn’t want them to come back here. I also had just broken through yesterday to Low Tier Magic Rank.
“That thing is a Low Tier Magic Rank beast” the mayor shivered. I just realized that I didn’t know why I could hear, but that’s for another time. They started backing away slowly. Once they thought they were out of my reach they ran for their lives.
They weren’t out of my reach so I sent a root to grab the human that was supposed to be dead. The mayor apparently liked him since he started pulling him trying to pry him from my roots. I was not gonna let my prey get away so I just started poisoning him. My poison was much stronger since I had absorbed the poison of a few snakes to compare it to mine. This time he was gonna die and I was gonna make sure of it.
I was ready to cast a [Mist Assains Forest] if I needed to. If they so much as called for more people I would turn them into corpses faster than ever.

“Please, we will give you anything you want. Just don’t take my daughter's husband,” the mayor cried. Well, that explains why he won’t just let me kill the human. Maybe I should let them go, we don’t want to rip someone's husband from them. What if they have kids as well, I would be taking away someone's Dad. Then again I did tell him never to come back, yet he didn’t listen.
‘I will let him go if you help me kill the Nether Bear that rules this forest,’ this was my only request. If they accepted then they would be making me more than strong enough to kill him anytime I wanted. Also probed his memories while I was sending him that message. He doesn’t know any more than the human. He does know that his daughter is pregnant though, so I would be taking someone’s father. It’s not like he would be a bad father since he seems to love his wife.
“Okay, I will help you kill the Nether Bear. You must let go of Dan though.” So the human's name is Dan. Never bothered to learn but it’s nice to know I guess. I let go of Dan and poked his memories cause I wanted to know what he thought of the situation. He was doing pretty good actually since he would have peed his pants a few months ago.
He was scared for his life, he was ready to sacrifice the mayor if he had too. I scared him so bad he even was ready to sacrifice everyone else he cared about. I guess they're not loved ones if he was willing to sacrifice them. Wait, the one from a few months ago would never do that. I had gone through the memories more than enough times that he would rather sacrifice his life than his wife's.

I started searching his memories again and found ones that weren't his. They had a different feeling. They weren’t from recently either since they all were from when he was young. This wasn’t Dan, this was someone completely different. Their soul just looked like Dan’s and felt a lot like Dan’s.
This time I sent a lot of Mana at his head and broke a seal which I thought was mind protection but was the density of two souls being put together. This wasn’t Dan at all. This was Nathan Andrew Manthan. A reincarnated man. from Earth that took over Dan’s body when he died of my poisoning. Here I thought I was the only one.
I sent a projection of an old man into Dan/Nathan’s mind. Time in your mind was much slower than in real life. A minute in your mind was a sec in real life. I forced Dan/Nathan’s mind into the mindscape. They shouldn’t be able to access it until Magic Rank but I didn’t give a fuck.
“Hello Dan, or should I call you Nathan?” I said in the most sage-like voice I could muster. I made some tea appear and a table with 2 chairs. This would have been easier if we were in my mindscape but I didn’t know if he had a system or not.
“How do you know who I am,” Dan/Nathan said in an alarmed voice. He seemed very panicked and was staring at nothing as if looking at a screen that I couldn’t see.
“I can read your memories. Now sit and have some tea with me” I pointed to the chair in front of me.
“Okay, but who are you. You can be Nathan by the way.” Nathan sat down and poured himself a cup of tea.
“I’m the tree” I looked at his face expecting at least a flinch but there was nothing.
“Ohh, never knew a tree could talk”
“I’m not talking, we're in your mind. Did your system tell you I was a tree?” I said with a smug smile on my face
“Ohh so you know about the system as well. Yes, it did, said you were some type of Nethriet Tree and this is your soul projection.” He moved a bit to the left as if getting ready to jump out of his seat. “So what do you want from me?”
“Nothing really, just want you to help me with something. System quest menu, create a quest,” I said those words thinking it wouldn’t work but it did. A blue illuminated screen popped up in front of me.

Nathan accepted it right away after seeing the rewards.
“Thank you!” Nathan said looking everywhere but my eyes.
“No problem” I transformed myself into someone my actual age and Nathan seemed surprised. Before he could say anything I had expelled him from his mindscape and left. What an interesting encounter.
Nathan and the mayor soon left after marking down this place on a map. It was time to prepare for the fight against the Nether Bear. I hope I win, cause if I don’t well then. Nathan is also gonna die thanks to that poison.

Triquetra: A Multi-Class Isekai or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Accept the End of the Multiverse
Triquetra: An Multi-Class Isekei Adventure I know, I know, you have heard it all before. Yes I was hit by a truck. Yes I ended up in a Fantastical World suspiciously similar to one of my favorite RPG’s. Yes I had access to cheats no one else possessed. Yes it was a world of classes and levels and magic powers. Finally, yes I was an overweight middle-aged loser failing to live up to my potential. Given my eclectic reading habits I should have been better prepared. Unfortunately I was not. Sure I could multi-class with reduced penalties, but my starting class was Scholar! No combat abilities and very limited spellcasting. My HUD interface costs mana to use, and my universal translation seemed to be outsourced to Giggle Translate. I’m supposed to be an OP MC! Not a slice-o- life struggling to survive in the wilderness. Not to mention the Arch-Magus who summoned me, mistimed everything, I arrived 300 years too late, after the fall of the Empire I was supposed to save. The surviving remnants have devolved into Murder Hobos. What’s worse is that the Great Devourer, Ancient Calamity, and Spawn from the Void Beyond Time, Space, and Sanity is now aware of a new world to plunder, a world called Dirt! (Told you this translator sucks) Warning Extra Crunchy Authorial Vebosity! Lots of infodump in the early chapters, but I learn my lesson and it does get better, eventually. I do not own the Cover image, found it on a free image site.

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
