《P I G S》29. Brutality

We all stopped at a sudden halt as we saw a bush start moving next to the hatch and we didn't dare move.
This was bad, with the sun starting the set we had to get into the hatch before night however if that thing moving in the bush was a creature we couldn’t.
As we were crouching there watching we suddenly saw a face come out of the bush.
It was a squirrel.
It was a dark brown with twitchy eyes looking everywhere.
It seemed to have something tucked inside its mouth and although I couldn’t see what was inside the blood running down its chin seemed to imply.
It looked around to see if anyone could see what it was doing however, we managed to duck behind some trees before it saw.
After it decided nothing was around it went back to eating.
After that Ezra leaned into me and whispered
“I’ll grab it and hold on to it and you stab it”.
I looked at him nervously and nodded my head.
I was scared but we didn’t have a choice we had nowhere else to go.
I peeked back at jack who looked as pale as a ghost.
I think that the creatures freaked him out and with what happened with his sister I don’t think it's getting any better.
However, I had to focus.
I didn’t know if I had the guts to kill it and the longer it took to move over to it made me doubt myself even more.
I didn’t have a choice though, it was either us or it.
As we got to it my heart was pounding so loud that I thought the creature would hear it.
As Ezra positioned himself behind the bush the creature was in he looked at me as if to tell me to get ready.

Suddenly, the squirrel's head popped out of the bush and was about to see Ezra however, he locked his arms under his armpit and grappled its legs with his own.
As he did that I moved in with my knife. Finally getting a good look at its front I could tell it was female.
I gripped the knife tightly and gave it an underhanded knife stab to the stomach.
As I did that its mouth opened and the flesh in its mouth shot out and splashed me in my face causing me to close my eyes.
While I was blinded, Ezra spoke hastily
“Keep stabbing it's not dead!”.
After hearing that I started stabbing relentlessly for the next few moments.
My eyes were burning from the blood and small flesh chunks in them however I didn’t dare wipe them until Ezra told me I could.
Ezra eventually told me to stop and I did.
I finally had a moment to wipe my burning eyes.
As I opened them the sight I saw was horrific.
There were at least 30 stabs in the stomach and it seemed that some organs were starting to fall out.
Down its face was chunks of vomit, blood, and flesh most of which landed on my face and chest.
I had the strong urge to vomit, however, I managed to hold it in.
Jack on the other hand spewed all over the floor next to me.
I managed to dodge the splash from it however Ezra got some on his shoe.
After his vomit session, Jack looked incredibly pale and wouldn’t look at me straight.
I couldn’t tell if it was because he was scared of me because of how brutally I killed the creature or if it was because I was covered in flesh and vomit.

At the moment I didn’t care however as I just wanted to get inside and find something to wash myself off with. Ezra opened that hatch hastily as it was getting dark.
However, as we opened the hatch a pungent smell wafted through the air.
I felt instantly nauseous.
I covered my nose with my t-shirt and nodded to Ezra that we had to go outside.
I would rather sleep in the smell than have to survive a night outside with the creatures.
Ezra decided to go first as he was the most experience when it came to life or death scenarios.
We watched him climb down into the darkroom.
Once he hit the bottom he moved his hand around looking for a light switch before eventually finding one.
Once he turned it on he looked around and then just stood there in shock.
Confused about why he was standing still I climbed down as well and took a look around.
The moment I did my jaw dropped agape at the sight.
There were bodies everywhere.
Blood and bullets filled the room with the bodies being the main centerpiece.
Everyone in the room seemed to be soldiers, some of them however looked a little different.
They had the face of a chameleon.
The first thought that came to mind for me was how we were going to sleep here.
There were at least twenty bodies in this small room and the four beds each had about two bodies on them.
Eventually, Jack got curious and came down as well and his jaw dropped as well.
We stood in silence for a few moments as we had no clue what to do.
After a moment Ezra rolled up his sleeves and sighed
“Looks like we’re on body moving duty again Dante.”
I sighed as well and rolled up my sleeves.
I was hoping to clean myself off however, it seemed that I was going to get even more blood on my clothing.
Suddenly when we were about to start picking up the bodies we heard a noise.
It was the click of a gun
