《P I G S》30. tension

The sound of the gun click made us all stop at a halt.
A cold chill ran down my spine as I heard an unfamiliar speak
“ If any one of you move I shoot”.
I stood still facing the wall as sweat slowly moved down my face.
I couldn’t believe that we didn’t see him sooner he must have been hiding in the bodies and now we're going to pay the price.
With me facing the wall I couldn’t see anything that was happening and all I could speak was
“W-what do you want?”.
He stayed silent for a moment before saying saying
“Leave and keep your food and water here”.
This was bad,
if we followed his request we would die in the night from the creatures.
Even if we did manage to survive we would have to hope there was food and water in the other bunkers otherwise we would die from dehydration or starvation.
We had a better chance of survival if we tried to kill him here however, that wasn’t up to me.
I was turned around and didn’t even know where he was.
If I did turn around and tried to kill him he would kill me before I even got halfway turned around.
As I was thinking this Ezra spoke
“Isn’t there a way to compromise what if we gave you half our food and we could stay just for the night, we would be gone in the morning”.
He spoke back in an aggressive tone saying
“No, how could I trust that you people aren’t one of those chameleon fuckers”.
After a moment of silence, he spoke again to me this time saying
“Turn around, slowly”
Hearing his word I turned around at the pace of a snail crawl terrified of moving slightly too quickly and getting a bullet in my skull.

Once I turned around I saw him.
He was right in the middle of all of the bodies, his legs were trapped under the pile of soldiers and he had dried blood all over his face and body.
The worst part was he had the gun pointed straight at me.
I looked around the room to see where Ezra and Jack were.
I was the closest one to the man.
As I was thinking this the man spoke
“Fucking hell, Look at him. Their blood all over his face, He looks like he just ate a person!”
Ezra hearing this tried to speak up in my defense however before he could the man cut him off
“Don’t speak! Just slowly move to the back wall next to the entrance and turn around then, take off your weapons, backpacks, and then, finally strip nude.
After You have done that Climb out one by one and if you ever dare come back here I shoot you before you even get down to the floor.”
I took one big gulp as I looked directly at the gun and spoke
“But Mister-”
however, before I could finish my words Ezra dashed forwards at inhuman speeds.
The man tried to move the gun over to shoot Ezra but, before he could fire Ezra threw a punch that landed on his face and slammed the back of his head against the wall.
The punch had so much fore that the wall behind cracked and his head burst like a watermelon under the pressure.
Brain matter and blood flew all over some of it getting on my shoe. I stood in shock for a moment before saying
“Holy fuck you killed him!”
Ezra slowly brought his hand back to his side and spoke
“It was us or him.”

After hearing him say that I quickly spoke back
“I know that, I meant how the hell did you kill him with a single punch? And how did you move so quickly?”.
He looked surprised at my question for a moment before saying
“Haven’t I told you before martial arts?”
My jaw dropped for a moment as his response flabbergasted me.
I was very inexperienced with martial arts but even I knew that the feats he was capable of weren’t just because of martial arts.
Jack who was suspicious of Ezra before seemed to become convinced of something as he said that.
After that, we silently moved the bodies over to a pile in the corner.
Ezra splashing the man's brain matter everywhere made it much harder to move as we kept finding pieces of it everywhere.
We even found some in Jack’s bed and after he found that out Jack refused to sleep in it and Ezra swapped beds with him.
Before we went to sleep, however, I made sure to Use the red chalk around all of our beds to make sure completely.
After that, we all turned off the lights and got into bed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That night I couldn’t sleep, I was too busy thinking about what the crow had said about the clothed lion and the other thought that was trapped in my mind was about Ezra.
I thought about the time that he saved me and the strange way that he ran.
Or when I was getting attacked by Wilson and he knocked him away with superhuman strength.
As I was thinking about this I felt something touch my shoulder and jumped up out of bed in shock and looked to see what it was.
Although it was hard to see It was Jack.
He had his finger on his lip trying to tell me not to make any noise.
After I calmed down seeing that it was him I whispered to him
“What is it?”.
He looked back at Ezra for a moment before handing me a note. I read it and my eyes widened, it read
Ezra’s isn’t human

Alive?
In the ruins of a once glorious city, a mage awakens. As the sole survivor(?) of the cataclysm that destroyed his entire species, he’s forced to adapt. While learning the intricacies of his new body, he must first carve out a place for himself in a familiar yet foreign world before he can set out to reclaim his heritage. I cannot stress this enough: the character is not human, do not expect him to react like one. I know the hand on the cover only has five finger, but I doubt I am going to find a royalty free radiography with two perfectly functional thumbs placed in a sensible way anytime soon. The rewrite is finished. Beta readers are welcomed and I am still wondering whether I should put the sci-fi tag or not.
