“Yo, Whats up dude” Kai wrapped his arm around my neck, as his lengthy hair got in the way of his eyes, I couldn’t believe that this guy would later become one of the deadliest leaders of the new world.

“Perfect your here” I was relieved that he was here, we were like brothers and he also was the second strongest in school. I was going to need an extra pair of hands to prepare, staring dead into the eyes that hid behind his bangs “Ok look, we’ve been through a lot together, so you have to trust me on this one alright?”

“Sure? What’s going on?” Kai looked confused, he fumbled with the switchblade he kept on him all the time, flipping it in and out, his gaze came back to me after he realised I was collecting a large quantity of old glass bottles “So…. Did you finally lose it?”

“Shut up for one second,” I still had three abilities even after I jumped.

I sighed as the status board popped up, familiar yet dangerous. I turned back to Kai who was in a state of shock. “We’re here to look for some supernatural abilities”

“What did you do?” Kai could see it, I almost sighed with relief before I realised what this meant

“You can see it?” Curiosity and hope got over me, I circled my fingers to follow the floating word that where orbiting me “Like the word floating around me”

“Yeah I can…. What is it?” Kai's expression was unreadable which I found unsettling, he turned to look me in the eyes “The words…. Eye of what?”

“Eye of transcendence….” I murmured, this was unusual only evolved being could see the words, in the new world the words would get a new name, ‘Runes’ are what they would eventually be called. “The words are also known as runes, the words give us abilities and powers”

“Us?” Kai looked confused as the realisation hit him, he didn’t let his expression give way as he raised a finger to touch the glowing runes orbiting me “You mean there are more people that can use this?

“There will be…” I said with a grin, I held my hand out “You will be too”

“Your talking as if you know the future” He smirked as he grabbed my hand and hoisted himself up “I assume these bottles are being used for something”

I held one bottle that seemed to glow under my presence eyes, I threw it as hard as I could to the ground, the bottle shattered and golden essence floated up and into me, Lucky gold on the first try, a new rune had been added to the ones circling my body.

[Rune Control]

I stopped myself, my hand still midair, throwing another bottle, Rune Control? This was very interesting, an ability that let me control what my runes look like to others, the visibility of my runes and the contents of my runes. I handed the bottle to Kai. “Your turn”

He looked at me for a second before accepting the bottle, he copied my exact movement and threw the bottle at the ground. The glass shattered and the bluish purple essence shrouded him. He walked out of the cloud as two runes surrounded his arm.

[Oceans Tide]

[All Fathers Sea]

He grinned to me as did I to him, I fondly remembered his two main runic abilities. [Oceans Tide] allowed him to be one with water wherever he was, and [All Fathers Sea] was a producing ability that allowed him to generate water. A two in one combo, is what the Kai always called it.

“I understand them” He finally smiled, he raised his arm to inspect the runes “Sorry for doubting you”

I smiled and waved him off as he tried to apologize. We needed more runes than this if we wanted to survive the first wave. I scowled remembering what would happen tomorrow as I tossed another bottle to Kai.

Rune Type: Greek

Class: Ascended-tier

Description: One of the three gods of Olympus also holds this rune, giving many blessings to the one who holds the rune, including the ability to breath in water. Once within water the rune holder will have enhanced combat, durability, stamina and cast time. Healing can also be performed using this rune

[Rune Control]

Rune type: Arthurian

Class: Ascended-tier

Description: An old magus once held this rune, before he left the world he left the essence within the sands of his hometown. This rune gives the user the ability to control the runes that they possess, may it be making them invisible to everyone or destroying it completely. In later stages this rune possess the power to change the power within runes to build more powerful ones.
