《The Grand General - MmoRpg》Chapter 12: Battalion training day

Reaching the training dummies, Noah got welcomed by a neat line of soldiers facing Dominik, he stood at a good ten meters from them and was demonstrating a sword strike, it wasn’t anything like his swordance, after all his objective was to instruct a large number of soldiers with a concept of quantity over quality. They were all a bunch of greenhorns that just enlisted or were done with city guard duty but still lacking to join the army.
When Noah, who was standing by the side, unsure of what to do, came under the Head Instructor gaze, he got told to join the ranks with a cold and firm tone. It was like seeing a different person, more like an iron sergeant from a movie. Noah got slightly intimidated by the atmosphere and the impenetrable, wall like, aura that surrounded Dominik; It was as if faced with a different person, he could feel the wrath of and potential destruction that he sometimes glimpsed while the Instructor practiced his swordsmanship dance.
Every training soldier felt the same, they were all in subjection of Dominik. With this atmosphere they looked and observed his every move, every single muscle contraction could be seen on his steel body. His contracted biceps that were holding the sword diagonally above his torso, suddenly relaxed as if to let the weapon fall to the ground attracted by the gravity force, it looked so elegant and gracious. Before nearing the training dummie, they suddenly contracted again and exerted an enormous force. The manikin was cleave in two halves.
All the soldiers were dumbstruck by the sudden display of force taking place in front of them, it was a common thought of theirs if it was possible to reach such a level for them, Noah was the same. He thought about the quantity of hard work that was necessary to reach such heights. Thinking of hard labor came naturally to him because from all the repetition of Dominik swords figures, he could see improvements. He even tested it against horned rabbits yesterday. This motivated him further on getting the maximum from the hidden quest.

It was now time to focus on today training which apparently consisted of an heavy strike, Dominik didn’t delay on explaining its purpose and utility in a battle.

They got in position in front of a training dummy per man and started swinging trying to reproduce the master movements, many shouted too. It was a funny spectacle at first, but after a couple of demonstrations and some pointer by the head instructor, this squadron of greenhorns numbering no more than 20, looked like a series of machine working at unison. At some point the first in the row was appointed by Dominik as head screamer and got to shout every time he started moving, thanks to this, it was possible to strike at the same time. The other recruits also started shouting at the moment of strike, summing with the noise of the impact, it became really loud and intimidating. They didn’t look like a funny assamblement of simple people but, in truth, they were far from achieving a successful hit.
In the middle of this screaming, and now, fierce looking battalion, there was Noah. At the beginning he focused only on his movements and the mental picture of Dominik striking but in time, he got transported by those screams and he too, at full lungs, gave his all to shout at the proper moment when everybody else did; Dominik felt good about this Adventurer sent by gods immersing with Vesper people in training, his impression of this new student of his improved by the day.
After one full hour of swinging everybody was tired, Noah needed a break too. His mental fortitude screamed to give it a break. The instructor could tell that his trainees were tired after 40 minutes but decided to let them go on until they could, keeping them motivated by adding his voice to the shouting and performed the move in synchro with his men, he did so to increase their mental and physical endurance. In the long run, if he kept doing this at every training, they will be more tempered and will endure better heavy situations.

After one hour of constant slashing at dummies it was time to give them a pause and change their exercise for some time, Dominik thought and called a general stop of 5 minutes before starting a light march around the training field.
Noah, drenched in sweet by thehuge stamina consumption of his virtual body, and feeling the mind heavy, laid down on spot as soon as he the stop got called. Keeping up with this speed of repetition was taxing him, at some point, in fact, he noted that Dominik's voice kept growing faster, leaving less time between a swing and another. After 5 minutes were up, they got ready in tow line and started the march. Noah was amazed by the feeling he got from this fake sun, he could feel hot from its rays on his skin. It noticeably increased the difficulty of the march, after 10 minutes he felt like there was actually sweat pouring down from his forehead.
It appeared that the system to simulate physical fatigue was well done, apart from his mental tiredeness that was really there, his virtual body only got a stamina bar that made it harder to move if it got empty. But even if it wasn’t more than halfway full and impaired only a little his movements, it transmitted a feeling of exhaustion to his mind. He decided to look into this once he got offline and on the forums, he was curious about the methods that people used to overcame this.
‘ Right now it is time to run through! I will leave questions for later, let’s focus on gain the maximum from Dominik ‘.
Anticipating another hour of sword swinging after this march and an enormous fatigue, wondering if other people were doing the same things as him right now, he began running without stop, keeping pace with his neighbors in row.
