《Unstable World》5. Teams

29th of March 2056 Switzerland / Bern
It was the second day of combat training for class 1 D. This time there was General Meyer and Professor Olsen. Most of the time Olsen was looking at Aria.
“Ok class. Listen to what the professor has to say.”
“If you know how the military works you know that most of the time you work with the group. That’s also the reason why you’re divided into three different roles. Yesterday you saw what you’re capable of so today use it and form teams. In a team, there need to be at least three people and each one of them needs to be from a different role. You can do teams of four or five. I’ll give you ten minutes to decide.”
Osir and Lucas, without talking, knew that they needed to be on the same team. Only support was left. Emilie walked to them and while sticking her pointing fingers she asked:
“Is there a place for support in your team?”
They were the first team that got all roles. In the class, there were 5 teams formed but one person was left. It was Aria. Everyone formed teams by friendship, not power. Olsen looked at every group to find the best one for her. Then he noticed Osir.
Olsen approached Aria and said:
“Hard to find a team?”
“I don’t need a team.”
“You may be right or not but if you want to pass to the next class you need a team, and I might have a good team that would not complain about you.”
Professor Olsen grabbed Aria by the shoulders and pushed her toward Osir's team. She tried to resist but she gave up.
“Hey, kids! Would you mind one more person in your team?”

Everyone looked at each other to see their reaction to that. Before they could say anything Osir stepped out and said:
“Is that an order or question?”
“More like an offer.”
Osir and professor exchanged glances. For a while, Lucas and Emilie thought that Osir don’t like Aria but then he spoke”
“No problem! We can take her in.”
For the whole conversation, Aria was ignoring them but after those words, she started to notice them as their team or at least Osir.
“Hi! My name is Osir, you’re Aria right?” Said Osir as he put out his hand to Aria. She hesitated for a moment but she shook hands with him.
“Correct” Answered Aria.
“WHAT! So you can speak! For the whole night, you didn’t say a word to me!” Said Emili making weird faces. No one knew if she was making a sad or angry face. At the same time, she turned her back on Emilie.
“She is ignoring me again!” She started whining again.
“Nice… So we have a cry baby and a shy girl in our team… at least Osir is normal… but when I think about it he is kinda childish.” Thought to himself Lucas as he remembered that yesterday Osir complained about tomatoes in his sandwich.
“No! I won’t eat this! It has tomatoes inside!”
“Then just pick them up.”
“No! Let's change sandwiches!”
After switching sandwiches he started complaining about cheese…
“I see that everyone has a team. Yesterday I fought a clone that was three times weaker. Today you will fight against two, three times weaker clones but as a team. Before we start. Each team needs to choose its leader” Said General Meyer.
Again, Osir, Lucas, Emilie, and Aria looked at each other and the first one to speak was Emilie:

“So who wants to be the leader?”
“Me” said at the same time Osir, Lucas, and Aria.
“The first person to run past the general will be the leader!” Said Osir as he started running.
“Hey! It was a fall start!” Shouted Lucas as he used his power to run past Osir.
“So we can use powers? Fine with me!” Said Osir. While he was going to use his powers Aria jumped on him and made him fall to the ground. Then she moved a rock in front of Lucas and made him trip.
Aria ran past Lucas but then she felt that the air was getting hotter. She got exhausted by running in such hot weather but in reality, it was Osir’s power. Lucas stood up and started running. He was the farthest one but he also was the fastest one. The second was Osir and the closest but most exhausted was Aria.
Slowly they all were getting into the same range. And the first one to run past the general is…

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.
