Hey author here :) saw that I had around 300 hundred views and over 30 followers and it's only been two days! Didn't think anyone would be interested in this story I'm randomly doing! Thank you! I decided that I was gonna post chapters weekly (on weekends) but I felt like posting an extra this week cuz I saw that :)

'Today you shall be getting a familiar alongside your classmates. Every student at Virarth Academy of Spells who has survived 2 years of schooling without being eliminated from the school roster, gains the right to summon a familiar. This familiar will become your strongest and most loyal of allies, they will be your eyes and ears, and will share your abilities as well as share their abilities with you.'
....I read from the booklet, which was handed out to each mage during my last class, as I was walking out to the sparring field where we shall summon our familiars.
I started gathering glances as I walked through, but not out of popularity....
You see I have a reputation of being one of the less... powerful mages. I have the most control out of all of them but they all look down on me due to my low amount of mana.
"Hah, look, it's the 'No-Mana Mage'."
"Why is she here? Is she getting a familiar too?"
"No way, that brute should leave, a lowly Knight has no right to be here."
"That weakling just barely survived, let her get her pitiful creature, Hahahaha"
At those comments I stop and clench my fists, but striking them wouldn't help so I stop myself. I then proceed towards the field once more.
Ah there's the professor. Let's.... Get this over with...
I went over to the center with everyone else while getting those disparaging looks from other students.
After a few moments of waiting for the rest of the students to arrive, the professor finally started,
"Today, we are going to be summoning a creature that will be a lifelong companion to you. To prepare for this I had all of you write your invocations last week. The invocations that you have written are going to be very important in your summons, the meanings behind what you have written is crucial to what shall be summoned. There shall be no attempts to summon another creature, the first shall also be your final, so I hope all of you have thought carefully on your invocations." He concluded his speach.

"Now let's get all of you, your familiars huh?" He said in a light tone in stark contrast to his serious speach.
"Sir Cunsclech, please come forward towards the mana capacitor." Said the professor, addressing me by my title and family name.
"Since you are the lowest ranking in overall amount of mana, you shall be the first to go." He said with a smirk and a gleam in his eye. The scoundrel! He's purposefully testing my patience!
...I shall focus on summoning my familiar.
"Please start activating your mana and begin your invocation." Said the professor.
"Does she even have enough mana?" A student quietly scoffs, but still loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Yes, professor sir!" I reply, ignoring the student that insulted me, then started my incantation.
"O kindred spirit,
Be thy of mana or physical strength,
It matters not,
destruction is not in thy nature,
for you are a being of intellect and integrity,
if thy shall will it,
I heed,
appear in front of thee." I chant quietly. For a few moments nothing happens.
"Ha! Wow she really didn't su..." The students cut off by a sudden rumble. Then, air above the mana capacitor starts rippling very strongly...
The professor looks like he is about to panic? What is the matter?
Then, what I may only surmise as a sound of a thunderclap, a humanoid being with fox ears, and two tails comes falling out of the summoning circle in midair.
..........It fell on its arse?
*sigh* time to be a target of mockery? What I was expecting did not come, every individual in the area was staring at the being I summoned with many looks of awe.
I, feeling quite perplexed about this happenstance, look at the being in more detail.
What I see is
An average sized figure, but a bit skinny, not much muscle. I don't know anything about its species, but guessing by its chest, it's male.
...it has torn fabric over its chest? A shirt maybe? Has goggles around its neck...what could those be for? Is it an engineer of sorts? Hmm. It seems to be wearing a some sort of pants... But more importantly let's look at the other aspects.

As I stated earlier, it has fox ears and two tails... Why two?
I shouldn't dwell on it, yet.
On to the hands then. They look like ours, but have longer, and look stronger, than human ones. They seem to be moving a little bit? I wonder if they are retractable?
It's feet are lot different from a human's.... Paws.... With what seems to be ripped leather around them.
Oh, claws furled out for a moment. So they are retractable.
The most impactful thing I see about this being, that shall be my companion, is that it has white fur!
...I haven't seen its face yet, its fur is currently covering it....
"Sir Cunsclech, I believe it is time for you to bind your familiar to yourself." Said the professor breaking off my thoughts. It seems he has recovered from his state of astonishment.
"Yes, professor sir." I say activating the mana in my body.
" I, Iona Ashfield Hargreaves Cunsclech,
taketh thee to be mine familiar,
marketh thee to be mine familiar,
and bindeth the to be mine familiar,
As acknowledged in the book of spirits,
doth it be claimed."
Now all I have to do is mark it, and the mark shall appear on my hand and where I place my hand on its body. I'll place it on its arm. That seems easiest.
I go to place my mark as by the familiars' contract decrees in the book of spirits, but suddenly it looks up directly into my eyes....
Startled I see intelligence, fear, and... what seems to be a hidden ounce of anger?
I calm myself and reach to finish the marking, but suddenly it, no perhaps I should address it as he, does a surprisingly agile backflip... to outside of the circle?! What is going on?! He's running away?! ..........he tripped. Ah he's back up and
Wait! Someone stop him! That's my familiar! I can't be the only one without a familiar! Thank goodness the professor caught him with a bind spell.....
Let's get the marking over with already... I asked for intelligent not insane....
{Niles PoV}
What the hell is going on??!!
All I remember is the falling, my shirt choking me from the air pressure'?' pulling it, me ripping it, then I passed out.
First thing i see when I wake up is a tall girl with... purple... hair standing over me, and had what seemed to be a stereotypical magic circle in front of her hand.
She seemed shocked for a second, but then goes to touch me with it. My body reacts on its own and moves away from her. Did I just do a GODS DAMN BACKFLIP?! Never mind, that my body moved on its own, is this an instinct thing? I'm outta here!
....ow my face....
Did I really just trip? What is wrong with my feet?
I gotta get out of here! Even though I have no clue where here is...
Suddenly a root tangles around my foot... Is that a paw??!! Wait the root. Oh shit another one!
....can't..... Move.....
That girl is coming closer.
Go away..! What is going on?!
I hear the purple haired girl saying something.
" nedrew thcameg dnetleg se htod
, tnnakrena retsieG red hcuB mi eiW
, tuartrev neröheg rim uz hcid htekram
, tuartrev neröheg rim uz hcid htekat
, hcelcsnuC sevaergraH dleifhsA anoI , hcI"
...the fuck? What does that even mean? She tries to touch my arm but it's too strongly wrapped by the roots for her to pull them off, so she presses her hand onto my chest and I feel a burning sensation. Then it starts to increase in intensity. What is with magic and all of it hurting?!
I then proceeded to pass out.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
