《One man army in a marvel universe》Burning bridge

As I finish reading the papers on my desk in my room. I sigh in exasperation, my future is now in shambles. The plan I had come up years ago, had hit a major road block.
"I really screwed myself royally." I turn my gaze to the web page photo on the computer at my desk in my room. It was of the very same man I had run into all those years ago in Los Almos in New Mexico. Seeing the proof once more it felt like I had just put salt on a wound once more.
I recalled my meeting with the man, grinding my teeth at the bastard. With his influence he had metaphorically kick me off the edge of a cliff. The worse of it, I couldn't do a fricking thing to stop him from doing so. He had so much more influence in every category in life then I did, I was nothing to him but dirt under his shoe.
Looking toward a contract on my desk I grinded my teeth in anger, this one was from Stark industry it was a long term work contract. Its terms of employment were better then the other contract sitting beside it, this one was from that bastard. Saddly both offered a job that was nothing more then open abuse.
The one from Tony atleast offered more money and a slightly better work environment. But what he took away from me wasn't worth the efforts in the eighty years of contractural law abiding slavery to his company. All my years of planing would go up in smokes, every hardship would mean nothing if I was to sign it. So of course, it wasn't an option either.
Tony Stark, knowing full well of my unique situation, was taking advantage of my weak stance. All this was even before he will become Ironman, for now he was just a drunk billionaire with a penchant for messing with people. It took the patience of a saint in enduring his shenanigans, it seem I didn't have the same faith in him as did Piper Potts.
The contract he send me did offer me a job, but it was practically no better then force labor. Oh let's not forget that I would no doubt, loose a great deal of my intellectual freedom. My future under this contract was me in a team, never to be premoted ever. As we all work long hours in perfecting one thing, better code or just reviewing Tony's work personally. No doubt it was his way of one day sending me something beyond my ability, all so that he could rub it in my face.
Right this moment if I could travel back in time. I would've smack my younger self, my parents furry when I explain what I had sold to Accuetech all those years ago. Now made sense, by doing that deal I had given the world the very key, that had made my past expertise so valuable. Now those same skills were so wide spread that I had lost the edge that had gave me such a powerful tool at my side. Sure I still had a few trick up my sleeves, it just that I was sure that it wouldn't be long before others would catch up.
Recalling the meeting I had a few hours ago, I wanted nothing more then to give that bastard a punch in his smug face. Getting up I punch my bed, needing to vent the rage burning in my gut. I recalled the memory of a few hours ago, as I vented my anger on the mattress.

(Flash back begin)
Sitting In the waiting area I waited patiently, this wasn't the place I really wanted to be, but the past few interview had been a frustrating experince one after another. Every employer seem excited in hiring me at first, only to hear from them later, a completely different story just a few hours after or a few days.
Every time I ask about what I had done wrong, it was in order, not to repeat that mistake for my next interview. They all acted evasive, giving out one weak excuse after another. Only a few of them, gave me a vague sense that something had gone terribly wrong. Especially when they ask for my understanding and forgiveness, right before they quickly hang up on me. This left me with more unanswered questions, and a growing sense that someone was gunning for me from the dark.
Shaking my head trying to clear my dark mood before my interview. Looking around in this place, it was way down on my list of company to work for. Tony had pulled a stunt with his contract that was a clear abuse on my creative rights.
The evil grin he had as I left in a huff thinking back on it, some chills were crawling down my spin on that look he had as I left. It was like he knew something that I didn't. I really hope it had nothing to do with this odd sense of discomfort I had ever since I had step in this place. As I was trying to reason with my instinct that was rambling on about something being not right, the secretary called me over.
"Mr Parker, the Director will see you now." I don't know why but she seem to give me a look of pity.
I thank the secretary, but after seing her look. The dark sense of unease I had before was now growing as this interview time came closer. Walking toward the door, I stop briefly to compose myself putting on my best smile, I gave a brief knock and waited for the muffled invitation to enter, before opening the door wearing my best smile.
Once I came in, I froze as I laid eyes on the man sitting behind the desk. He had a shit eating grin on his face as the smugness came oozing off him. Suddenly my past few months mayde perfect sense, as well as Tony borderline slave like contract. The man sitting down was Justin Hammer it said so on the name plate on the desk. He was the very same man I had meet in the lobby in Los Almos, the one I had publicly shame in the lobby of Accuetech.
"I did tell you, you would come to regret it that day." His smirk was pure evil, his eyes ligth up in joy as he got off, on my pale dumb found expresion. "Oh don't worry you can still work in this sector. All you have to do is sign this contract." He slip me a document in my direction.
As I read the contract, my emotion went from horror to rage, humilation and disgust at the terrible condition. I left without saying a word and without signing anything, on my way out I could hear him laughing as I made a mad dash stumbling away from the vile evil bastard that had ruin any chance I had in gaining a proper foot hold in the coding world. From the corner of my eye I spotted the very same secretary quietly shaking her head in pity as she followed me with her eyes out of hammer industry.

(Flash back end)
Once I had vented my anger or at least enough so that I could think clearly, I sat back down in my desk chaire. Swinging from side to side in reviewing all my years of planning, that was now being burn down in a inglorious display of one's man quest of vengeance. The small prick of resistance I had displayed all those years ago, came back to haunt me.
"It was a good plan, find work in coding and programing the next gen of tech for as long as I could. On the side amass all I need for my power up." I glance at my computer, moving the mouse I open up a files. It had all or at least almost all the theoretical calculation for the formula on my super mutant plan. All I needed was a place to experiment, lots more money in order to start building the vital ray chamber and start testing the serum in order bring it over an acceptable risk limit.
But now, I had to rethink everything. The reason I wanted to work in the coding sector was time and effort. With my expertise I could've still keep up for a time at the same time gain the funding or at least a legitimate reason for the sudden growth in my bank account. I still had to retain a certain image, taking loads of cash out of nowere will attract allot of unwanted attention.
Turning to another growing concern, was uncle Ben and aunt May dwindling bank accounts. Sure three years ago I injected a big cash flow. But saddly any other revenue were to small in stopping the constant leaks that had to be patch. Hell for all this time I had been working part time at the dojo, in a joint venture in gaining money and fighting expirience.
One major change was that Peter instead of only staying at home studying wathever he could get his hands on. He actually ask in joining the dojo, so not only was my little bro a fricking genius he was turning into a badass ninjas as well. Strangely he seem to have a natural talent for it too, or it could be a byproduct of the compound my parents had injected in him all those years ago.
"I think that Peter is going to be the most powerful version of himself ever." I couldn't recall any version of Peter Parker doing anything that could be consider preperation in becoming Spiderman. Well beside the various fanfiction that is.
"Well I know that isn't his goal." Swing my chair from side to side I remember him coming up to me and saying stuff like he wanted to follow in my foot steps. So going to the dojos and studying was a must in his book.
I knew that this was Peter attempt in sticking close to me, after the lost of are parents many of the wound had healed in Peter. But now he wanted nothing more that to be near me, as much as possible. Are parents death had showed him to cherish the moments with your loved ones. He wasnt just this way with me, he was like that with both Ben and May. If either ask him for help in one thing or another, Peter was the first to jump in action.
Even if I was worried about Peter new found sense of selfless help around the house. The matter was. "I need a new plan fast."
Saddly my future wasn't the only thing in jeopardy, unpayed bills were stacking up once more. Looking at a letter this one about my application in one of the university that had head hunted me in the past. It was a refusal in acceptance, I had this nagging feeling that many school I woukd apply for in the near future would hold the very same words. My guest, this was another one of Justin tactic in pinning me in a corner, forcing me to choose between Tony or him.
"Looks like I won't be furthering my studies for a while. This is a low blow even for him, but then again he seem to really hold a grudge over such a small conflit. Nah it probably cause he want to own my abillity in coding so he can squeeze me for all I'm worth." I snicker at the though, before getting a little depress over my powerlessness in fighting back.
Opening a drawer from my desk, I took out a ledger bound tight with locks and straps. Taking out a key from a secret compartment, I unlock the ledger. Opening the filled up book, I check certain mark places. The title of these things were mark with plan A, Plan B etc, this was my scheming ledger. Every idea I ever had about this world or my future I had mark it down inside. I had started it when I was really young as a way to kill time, and well it slowly grew in the years.
After checking and rejecting a variety of mad plans, I came across one that was also completely nuts. But their was something in it that gave me pause for a few minutes. Spending more time in evaluating this idea, on a variety of different angles.
"Could this work? It could but it won't be easy. But on the flip side I could slowly aquired everything I needed. It would delay me on a few years but yeah this could be it." I tap my finger on the page, I was more and more certain on they idea.
"I doubt they'll agree. But it would solve so many thing, beside if my formulas works. I could pay my own way trough school in a few years from now." I nodded since by this time I doubted that Justin would interfere, especially since in his mind I had run away from his power. While all I was doing was not fighting something I couldn't possibly win.
Nodding my head in determination, I began planing out how the hell would I break the news of my choices to Uncle Ben and Aunt May. I expected a massive war of words on the subject, but it what the family needed right now. Especially since I was trap by two dicks who were now in a cock measuring contest. This was a challenge that I couldn't even begin to step in, I neither had the power or time to spare them. But I would remember this, in the future if an opportunity presented it self, I would make sure to pay them back in turn.
The new plan was simple, go into construction. Not as a grunt but owning a business, I knew that one of Uncle Ben old army buddy was looking to sell his company. The guy did have kids but neither of them, were remotely interested in taking up the family business. He had offer Uncle Ben and few others in buying it off his hands, but Ben had refuse. Well for one, he didn't have the cash, second, he wasn't all that interested in managing such a headache. Beside uncle Ben was alway much more comfortable using his hands then paper work.
I knew that I was young but if I could convince this man in staying on for a year or two just long enough so that he could help in showing the ropes so to speak. I wasn't aiming for the number one construction company in the city or world, but if I manage in keeping this thing afloat. It would be a perfect cover for many of the material I needed in building my personal lab and start working on the vital ray and the serum formulas.
If I could pull this off, then are money problem would be resolve in a few years. It could potentially lead in gifting Peter his own personal lab, I was giddy with the though of an super well equip and bad ass ninja spiderman kicking ass in New York.
"Right, I should propably start with meeting the guy first." I pick up the phone an dial the number, hopefully this was the turning point I needed in order to gain power in the near future.

Summon Imp!
Travel with a newly born demon as he grows and learns in his own world as well as in other worlds as he gets summoned again and again. Usually to die or kill for others in strange and exciting places, but it's never certain what the next one will bring. It has its perks. With each new world comes a new story with new experiences and new lessons. There is always more to see, more to learn and more to know. Maybe, someday, it will all make sense. For now he will just work hard to become stronger, to be useful and, hopefully, survive that way. A coming-of-age story, but different. Things start to slow down to a crawl. Colors blur into one another until my vision is completely white. All I can think is "Shit, not this again!" I hate being summoned. _________________________________ updates once a week until I get more time The idea for this story began in two places. One was the ridiculously rapid pace of gaining power in many novels. Both in games and in novels, I enjoy the struggle of the beginning character, why always the rush? The other was the way many monster or non-human MCs always seem to hurry to become human (again). It always felt like a cheap way to grant the character extra powers without the difficulty of writing a non-standard thought process. Thus I wanted to write the slow(ish) progression of a monster character gaining strength and intelligence, while remaining distinctly non-human. There are no stats, xp or systems, no reincarnated soul or completely formed being to start with - unless I want to make fun of those. While the MC 'evolves', the process takes months if not years to proceed step by little step. Sit down with me and imagine, what would it be like if...

8 205The Electric Messiah
Volume Two of the Ontogeny series. A time of unprecedented crisis has come. During a mission to the edge of the known world, Brigadier Weyland James discovered that humanity faces a threat so terrible that the sane mind can barely conceive it. Failure to meet this threat would mean the end of human civilisation, mankind thrown back to a life of wandering savagery, easy prey for the true masters of the planet who see humans as mere animals, theirs to use and exploit as they see fit.Hope exists, if all mankind can unite, putting aside their petty differences for the greater good, but the truth is so unbelievable that the Brigadier faces an almost impossible task in convincing the leaders of the human world. His task is made even harder by the fact that several governments have been infiltrated by agents of the enemy, who are using their influence to sow seeds of war and chaos. The Brigadier is not mankind's only hope, though. In Helberion, a small group of scientists, struggling to make a major scientific breakthrough, is being hampered by assassination and sabotage. Is this the work of the enemy of mankind? King Leothan hopes it is, because it would mean that the enemy fears this new science, that it could be used to create a powerful weapon against them. A weapon that could be the Saviour of Mankind. The Electric Messiah... This is the sequel to Ontogeny. If you haven't read that book yet you must read it before you read this book.
8 91The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
8 160Ten Thousand Sallys
Imagine waking up in a hospital room, you can barely move. No one comes when you call. The only other person present is a little boy, who is, surprisingly, more help than you would expect. What would you do? This is the exact situation Sally finds herself in. Almost immediately she discovers that nothing is what she thinks it is. Not the boy, not the hospital, maybe not even herself. She is in deep trouble and the consequences will be dire if she can’t find a way out. She is a fighter, though, and just doesn't quit. As a baseline human, she starts as the lowest of the low and has to claw her way up in spite of being tangled in a shifting web of schemes and plots. She has to do her best, and maybe her best is pretty good. As Sally uncovers more about her situation, she finds that she has to be smart and tough and that in this place she needs to depend on her friends, who are using her as much as she is using them. This book contains themes concerning life, death, and body functions, light swearing, minimal nakedness, and should be suitable for most. Some pertinent info: Ten Thousand Sallys is a complete novel of approximately 140 pages in 20 chapters. Around 80,000 words. not too long, and maybe too short. Give it a read and let me know your opinion.
