"Well looks like this one isn't it either." I cross off another address from the list in my hands. This would be the ninth one so far. Honestly I was surprise how difficult this was turning out to be, I mean it was true that during this last two weeks, I was keep busy with the whole programming gig. I had decide not just to do a good job, but a devious one.
I knew it was but a matter of time, before I lost my monopoly on the digital word. So I figure I should create some backdoors, just for me in the future. As long as I did my work right, this weakness wouldn't be obviouse too anyone but me. Hopefully it will remain undiscovered for quite some time.
"Who would've believe, their being so many Madrox families, living in Los Alamos." I sigh in frustration, as I walk back to the car.
Looking up at the night sky, the stars were twinkling in their universal beauty. This had been a frustrating slow venture, not only was my search time limited by the project at Accutech. I was also restricted to more in depth investigation at all the past places on my list, having to do it only at night. Lets not to forget my personal lack of sleep, or my new found past time, dogging nightly polices patrols. Often I was force into parking, waiting, or hiding in the car or the car its self in a dark alley.
Stealth my new best friend, wasn't a very reliable companion in this trying period. I lost count the times that I had nearly or had been spotted by someone. To make matters even worse, was that the cops, were now looking for a wannabe ninjas in black. Learning that I wasn't even close to being naturally talented in sneaking around, it kind of hurt my pride, at least the pieces that were left of it.
I couldn't even make it easier for me, by just sending every familly too sleep, with only one tube left, I had to be more careful on my dwindling resources. Sure I could make more, the problem lied in the fact that I didn't have the resources. Nor the basic facility require in cooking up another batch, well at least for the moment. Another thing I had too add on my to do damn list, let not forget to add, get better at organizing my field operation on it.
So I was left with stalking every famille for a few hours at nights, until I could confirm they weren't what I was looking for, that is if they were home. As I drove carefully on the road, making sure that I was respecting the speed limit. A precaution I took in avoiding attracting attention, another one was after every drive I check the car, making sure that their wasn't anything that would call for a pull over from the cops. I pick my list checking the address on it, I took the map to confirm that I was going in the right direction. I grimace, I was down on the final three, this was cutting it close. If what I was looking for wasn't here then, I would need to rethink my plan.
Getting my hands on the research and blood, was crucial for all my plans. If I didn't then years of prep for this would need to be reconstructed into plan B. I did not forward on plan B, it was one of my contingency. It consisted in getting Peter blood after he was bitten by that radioactive spider. Or better yet, get me one of the spiders, the problem was that this plan was much too far in the future. It also risk being too late for my parents, and possibly me.

My pick on the multiplication mutation ability, was a calculated one. Of course it not like this was a super powerful ability to have, just the things I could accomplish with it was much more important. If I was too compare this power to lets say, someone like Jean Grey, then yeah it was terribly underwhelming. But the vast way it could be use depending on certaine condition, well the possibility were fascinating.
Unfortunately, I did remember this power being somewhat unstable, so before I injected myself with it. I would have to tweak it for my use, hopefully I would manage in improving it ability, and correct certain defect. In that goal I had been working very hard on biology, genetics, chemistry and anything else that had to do with the damn human anatomy.
Lets not forget that I had also been studing for years in secret, my two genius level scientist parents who were both in the top of there respective fields. I just hope it was enough, if not I could always pray to all the different deity's for my successes.
I gritted my teeth as I curse in my mind about this damn Marvel universe, and their fucking origins stories. Especially the spiderman varied origins stories, in each one it was alway trifled with tragedies. I was just hoping that I wasn't part of that tradition of sacrifice, in order to make spiderman a hero. If I had any say in it, then neither would my parents, or any other member of my familly. I was still unsure if I also included clones in that group or not.
My next location was looking good for stalki....I mean scouting, this place was far in the outskirts of the city. If I park far enough away, I could avoid any attention as I sneak closer to stal...scout it out. I slowed the car and park in front of the road leading to the location, I was just close enough to read the address on the mail box. I took out the list in my hand, comparing the address with the one I had. "Okay this seem like the place."
I started the car again an drove away. I found a further place were to stash the car, it would take me about a good, twenty or so minutes in getting back to the location on foot. Taking my equipment from the passenger side, I geared up, lock the car and leg it, toward my destination. Well to be fair the place looked more like a farm, I guest they wanted to be self sufficient?
I shrug that thought away. "Huh, why do I get the feeling that this seem familiar......Ah that right, what was his name, soup some thing...power no.....ah superman, yeah his back story, was on a farm. Hey I wonder if, nah this world doesn't have anything like Lexcompany something, something. Thank gods for small mercy, fighting a fifth dimensional psychopathic egoistical evil god. Does not sound like fun at all, I have plenty already with one world. I don't need a mad cap smash up of different realities colliding into one world."
Laying down on my stomach, I open the bag to fish out a pare of goggles. This was my home made version of night vision goggles. Not nearly as good compare to the actual thing, but they would do in a pinch. Beside it not like I can just go into a store and buy a pair, or go on the internet and order online. This was still the early 90's after all, these thing were illegal for a civilian to have. Beside the designs came from my father, apparently my dad created them in an afternoon out of boredom.

Looking at the device in my hands, I felt disgusted at the perverse sense of humor this universe had. In my past life, and in this one I wasn't by far anywhere near being an engineer, but my own father who was a fricking specialist in genetic. In an afternoon design and perfected, a pair of night vision goggles out of pure boredom. If it was me, it would take me at least a week to created the same thing except mine would be far inferior too his.
Not for the first time I curses the fact of me being the only normal level intelligence person in my family. What all of them seem to get easily with little to no effort, I had to squeeze every inch of my mind, until I manage to stick it inside my head. As for brilliant connection between one idea and another, just too understand the jump. For me it could take weeks of research just to figure the vague way they had come to that conclusion.
I usually spend alot of my free time just reviewing anything that my parents are working on, Just to understand their rambling. Recently every time they get a brilliant idea at the diner table, Peter gets a better understanding then I do most of the time. Its those moment that I feel the weight of things, the knowledge that if I don't prepare enough.
These moment of watching my parents and Peter get exited on science, are bittersweet for me, on one hand I struggle in keeping up with them. On the other it kills me a little inside, knowing that these preciouse memory, could at any time end. That Peter will loose this forever, that I will not be abel too fill the void, on the lost of my parents will have on us both. For Peter loosing them as he grows up, me knowing their possible demise, and being completely powerless in stoping it.
My worse nightmare in the dark of the night, are how do I tell my parents, that a possible horror story of in a few years. I think that either they might die, or I die. Then try and explain how I have come too this conclusion.
Best case senario was me being stuck in therapy for years, having the world tell me that's all was simply a delusion on my part. The worse senario, was them thinking that I had develop some kind of future sight mutant ability, then having too report to the government. When they come knocking on my door, in order to either place me in their privatize army, or lock me up so that they could extracting every piece of anyvague knowledge, or possible outcomes in are world.
Did I forget to mention that part, even if almost all mutant were consider second class citizen. Their was a law that state, any mutant in question that had any kind of power class at the alpha level and above. All parents of said mutant had to declare them to the government. Now depending on who got to them first their would be a few different out comes.
If are own government got to them first depending on their powers, the response would be different. Some would be sent in the Guardian program, others would retains their freedom. If the Xmen got to them, they would be invited into the school for learning and offered protection from being turn into a brainwash agents. If the brotherhood found you first, any ties too famillies that wasn't a mutant, would be bane from communicating with them ever again. And the idealogie of homo superius would be all but jam down your throat for years of reeducation. Funny how the one who had suffered so much at war, was the more militarien one of all.
I put a stop to my wondering as I focus on the farm, looking around I wasn't sure what was their main income, or if it was base purely on the farm. They seem to have a chicken coop, a sheep or goat pen maybe some pigs? They also had a pretty big green house, my guest was they most likely grew there own vegetables. Looking around they had a barn, and what seem like crops as well. This whole place screamed, off grid pretty bad.
"So they have everything they need, if a zombie apocalypse was to happen. But why?" Looking around I spoted something that was outside of normal. They had a very beefy security system around. "Is that....infrared camera? Wait that electrical grid is...holy hell...ttthats over ten thousand volts! This is ridiculous, this place is over protected. All they are missing is a bunch of automatic turrets, and they would be even more fortified then a friking military base."
Taking off my goggles I started too think, that this was very likely the place I was loking for. But I would need to get a better look inside and see this familly moving around during the day. Knowing that I couldn't be hunker down here all night and day. I took out a kit I had brought with me, this was what I had depended on in my one man stalk...scouting mission.
Setting up the equipment, it was something I had tinkerer during my time here. It had a camera, a low stand and a camouflaged blanket. I had rig myself a low tech field spy camera, sadly this had a lot draw back, but hey this was the best I could do in such short of time. Beside it not like I could keep any of this around after I was done, the night vision goggles, the camera and a bunch of other stuff. It would all need to be destroyed before I made my way home. It wasn't like I could've brought any of my better equipment. That would've raise alot of flags, with my parents at home.
Once all the equipment was set up, I quietly made my way back to the car. Even if I was to see something later on the tape, the fact remain that they had a very elaborate security system. It wasn't just a bunch of metal and wood fence, no this future invasion demand alot more prep then I had expected.
"I don't get it, why? Wait......could it be?" I stop in my tracks. If what I was thinking was possible, then the over secure farm explaine everything. The Madrox had a undeclared mutant child, but how the hell did Charles or Eric miss that? In a way this was a good thing, since it meant I could reach him. Still this sent my dange instinct in over drive.
"Is it possible...." I turn facing in the direction of the farm, a grin forming on my face at the possibility that I had just thought up. "Natural psychic block." I started to chuckle until I had a full blown laugh going. This was awesome, if my conjecture was right then I would get alot more then I had hope for. Walking away I suddenly had a skip in my step, things were looking up for once.
As go to the car, my happy mood simmer down enough for me to come to realise. I still had to get in first before I could even begin to do a dance of joy in celebration.
I grown as I realise that this called for another plan out heist. "Great, just great. Sigh, this is not going to be a walk in the park.....damn."

8 154The Storytellers
Myra Kahani lives in a world of gods and prayers. People around her constantly reach out to the gods for advice and suggestions at critical times in their life. But Myra has a problem. No matter what she does, she can't talk to the gods. When Myra meets Roam, an old, enigmatic Storyteller, she finally gets some answers. She learns of the origins of the Universe, the divide between mankind and their deities, and the important role that Storytellers play in her world. But the truth for Myra is just the beginning of her story. The Storytellers is a story that I began to develop from a series of shorter stories that I wrote for a mythology and folklore class. As such, they have a strong basis in the myths and folklore of various cultures and religions. Join me as I try my best to integrate these stories into my own and develop the world of the Storytellers and Myra herself. This is my first attempt at any sort of longer-form fiction so helpful advice is greatly appreciated!
