While those above ground worked on creating new futures for themselves and their families Lucifer worked in his lab, He was working on finishing his longest running research goal. After failing again Lucifer left the lab in frustration, he simply did not have enough information to work with, Lucifer was attempting to create a body that he could inhabit because he was still a little bit uncomfortable without a real body.

However, so far he has been unable to create a body that is able to accept his consciousness, he has tried, runes, enchantments, and even carving runes and enchantments onto a live person, but it was unsuccessful.

Lucifer flew around his dungeon inspecting various things when he came across a group of adventurers. These people looked strange, none of them had proper gear for killing, most of them were carrying picks and sacks. After a moment Lucifer understood that these people were miners here to mine the ore crystals.

They walked in a group near the cavern walls looking for minerals, after a short time they came across the first ore deposit. The ore deposit was a group of geometric rocks that gave off a faint light.

Once they saw the deposit the group gave a cheer then quickly made their way over to the deposit, They checked the area for hazards then promptly began to furiously attack it with their picks.

Small chunks of material fell after every strike, then the pieces were picked up by the people around them and put into sacks. The ore deposit quickly became a stump that would take time to regrow so the men marched further into the dungeon looking for more ore.

The group was largely successful during their journey only receiving minor injuries from the occasional boar attack. Now with their sacks full, they began to joyfully return from the dungeon.

As they were chatting one of the men spotted something moving in the air, the group stopped and raised their picks and readied for combat. What they saw was a little woman with butterfly wings floating above them, jaws dropped as they stood there in stunned silence when they saw this beautiful creature. One of the men mistakenly mumbled something about an angel before the leader of the group who was older and more experienced shouted, shaking the men out of their stupor.

The little fairy giggled cutely and pointed to a group of bushes off to the side, a beam of light shot out of her finger causing the men to tense up at the sight of magic. After the magic hit something in the bushes the area started to glow a faint red with sparkles appearing randomly. Then the fairy flew away while constantly giggling.

After she left the group re-composed themselves before they stared at the remaining red glow, after a short time one of the men let his curiosity get the better of himself and snuck towards the bushes, the leader tried to quietly tell the man to come back to the group, afraid that the noise would attract the little magician again.

When the man pushed the ferns aside he yelped excitedly, startling the group, he then quickly spoke: "There is a rare ingredient over there, I've seen it in an alchemist shop in the capital before".

After hearing the man exclamation a few more people put down their sacks and shuffled over too. with backup, the man became more daring and scampered down the small hill towards the glowing plant, he was unwilling to share such a treasure with people who weren't willing to risk even taking a peek over here, until he checked it first.

He reached the small plant, it resembles a rose with petals made of translucent rainbow colored petals. The man carefully used a dagger to dig out the roots because he knew that some ingredients are worth significantly more with the root structure in tact. As he was working he found the ground around the roots to be rather loose, as if this plant had been moved recently but he ignored his instincts telling him it was a trap and continued working.

Just as he was about to unearth the treasure the bushes next to him rustled, revealing a hole in the earth. Before he could even stand up a boar charged straight out of its den, aiming directly for the man, he tried to stand up and use his dagger to defend himself.

The dagger slashed towards the charging boar only to be deflected by the thick skull of the beast, once in rage it viciously raised its tusks as it ran into the man, tearing his leg open from shin to the groin. He screamed as arterial blood sprayed everywhere like a fountain to the beat of his heart.

The boar turned around ready for a second charge but, the men that were left behind finally caught up and quickly killed the boar with heavy strikes with their pickaxes, the boars' skull gave way after the second strike immediately killing it.

The man's miserable screams rapidly died down as he breathed his last breaths, without healing magic the group could do nothing for the man except give him a merciful death and take his belongings to his kin.

Meanwhile, the fairy flew around the dungeon before stopping in a seemingly random spot then said "so how did I do" in an almost sickeningly cute tone. A disembodied voice rumbled "Little Lucky you did well, although there is not supposed to be traps on this floor... I was wondering why you were moving plants around the dungeon if I remember correctly that plant is only found in my garden..."

The little woman cheekily smiled said "teehee" then promptly flew off to continue her games. Watching the little trickster fly away Lucifer shook his non-existent head and chuckled to himself and returned to the lab.

On the way back Lucifer was suddenly struck with a huge amount of information from below. The ants that were tunneling a new floor suddenly broke through a layer of rock and mana gushed out at an unstoppable rate, the ants nearest to it suddenly started to grow and mutate at a visible rate with no signs of stopping, while they were stunned they continued to mutate and evolve suddenly several of the ants exploded, The mana overloaded their bodies causing them to explode, more ants followed suit after the first and exploded.

After several minutes most of the ants that came into contact with the mana had died, only leaving a few left clinging to life.
