It is time.

Three weeks after what is now called the Siege of Arlonia, our expedition force is ready to set out. Over four hundred men and women volunteered—Slayers and soldiers alike—with a platoon of battle-magi and healers to provide support.

Our mission is simple: map out the Untamed Lands, discover the cause of the monsters’ increased intelligence, and if possible, find and kill the leader.

There is no farewell parade. But the citizens provided us with a little party the night before as thanks for our bravery in saving the city, boosting our morale. A few children even gave me wooden charms for luck and safety.

Eina is going to join us, for which I am glad. My comrades are good, and I welcome their company, but Eina is different. She has become my student, and also a friend.

We will soon be departing. I do not know what danger awaits us beyond the walls, but I have high hopes. The expedition has some of the best Slayers, and even a few mercenary groups, all of whom have been trained to kill monsters.

We can fulfill our mission.
