《The Demon Lord is Bored》Chapter Twenty-three: Let Them Learn

Three figures stood on top of a mountain that overlooked the Capital of the elven race.

One was a short woman with blue hair that flowed around her body like water. Her pixie-like face was comprised of big golden eyes and small, cupid-bow lips. Even though she had the appearance of a child, she managed to give off an aura that could only be described as dangerous.

Next to the small woman was a man with curly brown hair. He was tall and gangly, there were dark bags under his forest green eyes and he looked as if he hadn’t slept in days. He barely gave off any aura, he was a rather unnoticeable fellow.

Finally, the third as a young man with a blank expression on his androgynous face. His black hair that fell onto his chest was stick straight with a crimson streak. His eyes were mitch-matched, one being a vivid crimson and the other bright green. His aura, however, didn’t fit in with his blank expression. It oppressive and gave off a danger even greater than the woman’s.

“What a beautiful city,” Azure said with a smile. It truly was a beautiful place, it was located inside of a forest. There different colored orbs of lights floating in the air, the lights were reflected off of the glass structures.

The members of the elven race could be seen strolling around leisurely, completely unaware of the bloodbath that was happening everywhere else.

“It’s almost disgusting how ignorant they are,” Massath muttered. When they had been flying, they had passed over the armies of the warring races. People were getting killed mercilessly out there.

“Still a beautiful city, I wasn’t talking about the people in there.”

Massath whipped around and glared at Azure, opening his mouth to say more.

Erebus sighed. “If you start arguing, I’ll kill you both.”

The two shut up. Even if they could overpower Erebus because it’d be 2v1, his magic creeped them out. A lot.

“Tch.” Azure turned her head.

“So,” Massath started. “Will you be doing the honors, Erebus, or shall we?”

Erebus shook his head. “I will deal with this one.”

“Okay~” Azure smiled.

“Teach them of their inferiority,” Massath said viciously.

“They’ll make the perfect example,” Erebus said, raising up his right hand. Erebus’ green eye began to glow brightly and a 1x1 cube appeared in his hand.

Azure and Massath watched with interest as he sent the cube into the air, directly over the city.

“Activate.”

It was [Void Magic: Devourer]. A much larger version of what he would use on the Questers eight thousand years in the future.

The cube flattened and stretched itself out before like a vacuum, everything began to be sucked towards the Devourer. The vacuum itself made no noise, but the buildings did. So did the elves screeching loudly as they tried to run away.

But there was no escaping.

Families were torn apart, their children literally yanked from their hands. But worry not, the parents followed soon after.

Within minutes of his magic being activated, the Elven Capital was devoured. The vacuum retracted back into a small sphere and then exploded. The explosion still made no noise, but a black dome swallowed the area where the capital used to stand.

The only remnant of its existence was the large crater that was left. Just like that, a city that took hundreds of years to create was gone. Just like that, thousands of lives were gone.

“Remind me to stay on your good side,” Azure said with a laugh. She surveyed the area with a blend of fear and amazement. He had destroyed this entire place and he didn’t show the slightest bit of exhaustion or remorse.

Erebus laughed. “I have no intention of fighting other dragons, that’d be dangerous.”

Massath let out a low whistle. “Even if you say that...” Massath was a little afraid, even though he had known Erebus for three thousand years or so, Erebus had never used his magic in front of the others.

“Now, I wonder how long it’ll take for the news to spread,” Erebus smirked.

Massath shrugged. “I’m sure others saw what happened. The Capital is rather big, after all.”

Azure nodded in agreement. “What next?”

Their job was to end this war. But it wasn’t just that, it was to show the absolute superiority of the dragon race over the others so that something like this wouldn’t happen again. Or, if it did, they would know not to anger the dragons.

It wasn’t like the dragons cared that the races were killing each other, the dragons cared about the planet they lived on. They were its ultimate protectors and anyone who endangered it would be slaughtered.

The young dragons who ultimately started this war would be killed as well. When Erebus had mentioned their ‘punishment’, he was talking about taking their lives.

Yes, a fearsome race indeed. Well, at least the originals were. The other dragons simply listened to their superiors. They weren’t idiots, they didn’t want to be killed for insubordination.

“We will eradicate the troops nearby. Then we will go to Tartarus and destroy their capital and their army. We will do the same for every race.”

“And if they surrender?” Azure questioned.

“That does not matter. Those children shall learn their place,” Erebus said darkly. “We’re heading out. Massath, you will destroy the armies nearby. Azure, when he is finished, we shall head to Tartarus and you will handle them.”

“Understood.”

“We will remain in these forms. If we’re able to destroy them easily at 60% of our full power, it will prove even more of how weak they are compared to us.” Erebus began to walk away. Even though he wasn’t acting like it, he was having a lot of fun. He had never been able to use his power in such a way. Rather, he was never able to use it at all.

The dragons never fought each other. Everything was a natural instinct, they were born with the knowledge of how to destroy.

A truly fearsome race.

The three ancient dragons began to move, their destination was the warring armies not too far off. They didn’t know which races army they were and they didn’t care, either.

“Shall we make a grand entrance?” Massath asked when they came to the plain where two armies clashed.

“What a wonderful plan.” Erebus smiled at Massath.

“Ooh, ooh, I know!” Azure said cheerfully, clapping her hands in excitement. “We appear in the middle of the battlefield, right?”

Massath and Erebus nodded.

“And then we introduce ourselves as dragons. And then when we do that, Massath starts destroying everything.” Azure threw up her hands, a wild glee in her eyes. “How does that sound?”

“Cliché,” Massath answered.

“I don’t have any ideas myself,” Erebus said.

Azure placed her hands on her hips. “So, no complaints?” She completely ignored Massath’s input.

He sighed and brushed a curl out of his face. “I guess it’s okay. Better than nothing.” Massath cracked his knuckles. “I’m ready.”

“We’re going, then.”

The three all moved at the same time, weaving their way through the fighting. They were like blurs on the battlefield.

In no time at all, they appeared in front of all the troops. The soldiers nearby instantly drew back.

These three had strange auras, especially the two with black and blue hair. They weren’t elves and they definitely weren’t demons. The angelic race? No, they didn’t have the telltale wings. They weren’t from the seafolk, that was obvious. They were too tall to be dwarves and their features too normal for them to be beastmen. Dragons? No, dragons did not look like this. And why would dragons be here, anyway? The dragons, even though they instigated this war, had done nothing but attempt a peace treaty.

“Who are you?” the Commander of the Elves questioned. He fought on the frontlines with his men, he believed that it was only right this way. He was different from the Commander of the Demons, who had drawn back after their meet. If he wanted his men to sacrifice their lives for the sake of their race. He would do the same.

The woman curtseyed, even though she wasn’t wearing a dress. “Azure, the 8th dragon.”

“The 7th dragon, Massath,” the one with a commoner aura said in a sleepy voice.

The one with the most oppressive aura bowed mockingly. “Erebus, the 5th dragon.”

“Do well to remember our names when you go back to tell your leader what happened,” Azure said.

“We’re sparring this one?” Massath asked Erebus.

“Someone has to tell their leader what happened. We will do the same for the other side.”

“What are you talking about?” the commander snarled. They were basically ignoring him.

“Ah, we’ll be killing everybody here. Worry not, your life will be spared for our purposes.” Erebus spread out his arms and tilted his head slightly.

“Wh--”

“Begin, Massath,” Erebus commanded.

“Understood.” Massath snapped his fingers, a bolt of lightning came from the sky and struck the battlefield.

Ello, loves. Upon reading the review of Vocaloid, I realized I did mess up in some places. I didn't mean to say that Erebus was the 4th chair in the Council, that was a typo I never noticed. Also, as for the descriptions, I'm really bad at describing characters (their appearance and personality). I never go into detail, I apologize. I tend to rely heavily on indirect characterization. I'll try to be more descriptive here on out. Thank you for your review~ it's really helpful.
