《Cloud Dungeon》Chapter 5

Although the first hour wasn’t productive, but once Dia summoned wisps for the spirits to command it didn’t take long for the cloud water to begin to thicken and expand. As the cloud water expanded, the island cloud also began to bloat. After a point, a small bridge formed with the main island and the island cloud and the two separated.
Similar to the first one, the island quickly had a waterway carved out before the gnomes began to enlarge the place. The plants that were earlier brought from below quickly started sucking up mana like crazy and in a short time new monsters were born but unlike before, the presence of so many spirits caused the evolution to lean towards spirits. Soldier Flowers, similar to the thorn bush warrior that Mir was before, appeared holding sharp thorn bush spears and slowly walked around the island. In addition, flower spirits also appeared.
Flower spirits are peaceful spirits that hold onto either a flower or a dandelion seed and float around the sky. They are shy of strangers similar to Dia, but they are cheerful and love to play around.
They especially love pretty gardens and will plant the flower they hold. They take up a small bud as the flower they hold helping it grow before planting and repeating. This helps flowers have a high chance of becoming a monster or magical flower with some special property.
The herbs themselves were used by the flower spirits. Through the garden, these herbs mixed in with the flowers, hidden under the larger flowers.
As for the island clouds, it naturally flowed away from the rock island, but once Dia felt like it would fall off she made it come closer and left it at that distance. However, to the shock of her, though not to Misty, the island split in half before both halves reconnected and continued to grow, but with a small bridge.
The little flower spirits would occasionally go over and plant flowers that somehow survived on it.
Dia, on the other hand, used the islands as beds due to their fluffiness without the wetness of the cloud water.
Down on the first floor, with the addition of the second floor, the floor also rapidly began expanding. Once the cloud reached 200 meters, one of the island clouds on the floor above released a small piece and it sank into the floor below and allowed Dia to slowly expand that floor making cute islands for the monsters. The monsters themselves could survive on them and very quickly the stronger tree monsters took the top of these islands becoming like small bosses of the islands.
One island had spitting thorny flowers populating it, another had some large trees of the same type.
Something else that slowly spread, but couldn’t pass to the second floor was the bugs. Butterflies, regular flies, spiders and many other bugs that Dia wanted gone were now spreading and slowly becoming bigger, but were greatly suppressed by the plants and spirits. This kept them weak, but they were large in number.
Dia did bring up a few butterflies and like promised by Misty, she showed Dia how to make butterfly fairies who were simple minded like butterflies and loved the pollen of the flowers. This would allow the flowers to crossbreed and even the herbs would begin forming variations.
While all this went on, on the ground the previous mages that went after the dungeon had gone into action and converged at the location the dungeon was located, but all they found were each other. Some who were rivals or enemies battled before breaking off and splitting up to search.

They even thought the dungeon was far below the ground, but earth archmages said they couldn’t feel anything even with an ability to feel down over ten thousand meters below the earth.
All they found was the outer bounds of a mana spring and at the center was the most famous and infamous place on the planet. The Holy Land.
It is a place dedicated to the God of Creation, but the people are extremists who believe the other gods and goddesses are lesser beings even when it’s well known that the gods and goddesses are children of the god of creation he made to aid him.
They could only go search or form small caves to live in hiding from the probing of the holy land as they search for the dungeon.
After several days Dia was bored as she was on one of the cloud islands watching the spirits move around on some of the islands.
“This is boring~!” She complained.
“What is?” Misty asked confused.
“I want fishy in the cloud water and I want cute animals on the islands~!”
Misty smiled wryly and looked down as if seeing through all the clouds.
“Sadly that is hard to do.” Misty said.
“WH~~~Y! I want cute fluffy animals!” Dia complained with tear filled eyes.
She felt a tap on her head and found Mir standing there. She formed a flat surface on the cloud and wrote.
‘There are lots of dangerous, powerful and ugly old men down below that will catch you, be mean to you and make your garden ugly.’
Dia frowned and stomped as she threw a tantrum.
“NO ONE WILL HURT MY PRETTY GARDEN!” She shouted and rolled on the ground.
Because she is a dungeon, with so many people and creatures she had is grown comfortable around, she is very open about her feelings and outright shouts.
“Can’t we send some sylphs to capture a few animals for her?” Misty asked.
The plant monster shook its head.
‘Dungeon monsters are confined to the dungeon unless they have a monster core.’
Misty put her finger to her head as she began to go over everything in her head. She was the only one that knew this type of dungeon as good as the goddesses that made it.
Misty remained flying in midair for several minutes while Dia wore herself out.
“THAT’S IT!” Misty suddenly shouted surprising Dia who was nearing the end of her tantrum.
“What’s what?” She asked.
“I figured out how you can get a few fish Dia.” Misty said.
She flew backwards so she doesn’t have to turn constantly to look at the two every time to look at the both of them.
“The thing about Dia’s dungeon is that she has to lower her dungeon near the ground for someone to access or even notice it right?” She asked and the two nodded since that is what they have come to realize, even Dia knew this fact.
“Well, after going over the information I have in my head I found out that Dia will only cause a massive disturbance upon being created and her dungeon is pulled into its own dimension. The thing is that she is already in said dimension. On the outside someone will only notice clouds and you wouldn’t be able to see into the islands from the outside. The idea I have is to have Dia fly far into the ocean that it will keep whoever is following us down below occupied enough that we can go down to the water surface. During the night we can push the dungeon all the way to the water surface and if there is any fish life we can have some plants shoot out a vine and pull them into the cloud sea of the first floor.

To anyone else it will seem like fog and if we go to any unpopulated island we can even take animals.” She said and grinned.
Dia was smiling seeing how she would be able to get animals.
Mir then began to move.
‘Don’t underestimate the oceans of this world. Anywhere with deep water will have huge monsters. As for small ones, they are only at areas with people living nearby such as reefs or coastal zones. Chances are we will have to be extremely quick with our ‘Fishing’ to run away and most likely one or another will notice since mages are plentiful in this world and they will know the difference between fog, magically summoned fog and a dungeon.’
Dia slumped but after reading it again she brightened up because Mir wrote ‘Chances are we will have to be extremely quick with our Fishing” which means she agreed with the thought of obtaining some fish to make her own.
She was excited to go and already set her dungeon to move to the ocean nearest to her, but Misty made sure to have her set the destination to a reef close to shore. It didn’t matter to them if they went too far from the mana spring because flying in a straight line ten thousands meters in the air is far different than flying several meters in the air where you can be attacked.
So with a quick thought the dungeon began moving. On the ground all the mages notice the moving and walk out to see if there is any disturbance, but there is nothing except a dark cloudy sky and rain falling across the land today so it was impossible to see anything.
Most, if not all, the men thought a while before they got to the thought, ‘This is a mana spring so it might leave to possibly catch unique monsters, but it will return.’
Nothing of magical nature or uses magic would give up the chance to live near a mana spring. Even these mages had thought that as long as they are capable of monitoring the dungeon they will be able to discover it and while they do they will simply live off the land waiting for the dungeon to open.
In the sky both Mir and Misty noticed nothing was following and couldn’t help feel relief.
As for reaching the shore, it took two more days of flying into the ocean for them to arrive at an archipelago.
The area was like an island in itself because it was a huge underwater mountain that only had a few tips pointed out forming the islands. The rest of the underwater parts formed a perfect warm water sea bed for reefs and breeding homes for medium sized sea monsters and as well as a perfect home for small fish. The area also attracted quite a number of birds that lived off the fish.
Without any sentient inhabitants living, the group waited until night before descended on the region completely before the dungeon slowly came down.
Normally clouds can’t survive below a certain altitude, but that is during the day when sunlight heats the planet. During the night time fog is very common and in this humid area, as soon as the dungeon reached the minimum height a cloud would survive in and lowered near the reef, a sheet of fog spread throughout the entire area.
The dungeon domain soon touched the water and stopped as if it touched solid ground.
From there it slowly began to shimmer as small vines with bugs in their grip would appear from the cloud and dip into the water.
Slowly some wandering fish began to get close, but once it was within 1 meter a vine appeared and like lightning it grabbed the tail and pulled it from the water into the cloud sea faster than the fish could splash to frighten the other fish.
Like this several dozen fish were caught in that area. As for the culprit of this capture, it was the bewitching lesser lily alraune. With Dia’s order, it had moved below the cloud sea to the bottom of the island and spread budless vines with bugs that could get to the island when it was small and grow on it.
It had five areas it was fishing at, one vine held a bug to lure in each area while seven vines caught the fish.
Also the bewitching effect worked at a half strength outside of the dungeon and a half that underwater, but it was enough to attract some fish. Throughout the night the cloud ocean was filled with silver scale sardine, moonlight tuna, some jellyfish, some sea turtles and even a few small sized sharks.
Letting the area rest, Mir and Misty had Dia order the alraune to move onto the second objective, grabbing some of the deep sea snails and coral.
When the first snails and coral entered the island clouds, the first and second floor islands began to shake and slowly formed a sloping ground going into the cloud sea until it reached a quarter of the way down into the cloud sea. The main island didn’t suffer these changes since earth isn’t as easily molded. Second objective creatures were all placed on the nearest cloud island.
After this the alraune stopped and returned to its post.
The reason was simple, they had to wait until near morning to get things like shrimp and daytime fish.
That being said, in the cloud water the nixies were working to wrap the fish in mana and rework their natural mana into dungeon monsters so that they wouldn’t die from the pure clean cloud water.
This went double for the coral, but these were simpler beings. Many of them were broken into many tiny pieces and spread throughout the first floor. The dungeon was also lifted to 5000 meters to keep any wandering creatures with intelligence from noticing. This meant birds really, the islands had quite a number of powerful birds and most were intelligent.
As the sun began to rise, the dungeon lowered again covering a few islands with fog making the birds wary to fly in this fog due to predators they wouldn’t notice.
This was actually perfect for Dia and the others as they used this chance to move close to the smallest islands that had some natural plants. The vines were even lowered again and they removed large trees like palm trees and some ferns before being pulled back into the dungeon. These palm trees were planted on the second floor cloud islands. The islands can’t create life, but if large plants are raised and planted they can easily take root and live off the mana that the clouds have. Island clouds are like mana sponges and hold much more than cloud water.
Then they all moved over the water once more and as planned the alraune fished out a large number of small fish fish and a number of shrimp that were tossed into the shores of the island clouds.
Finally the last objective was the most dangerous which was getting animals.
There were very few islands with large animals and in this archipelago there were three islands that were big enough. Soon one of them was covered by fog as the dungeon moved over the trees. It was much harder because the dungeon wouldn’t touch other things like trees. They don’t flow naturally and act as a resistance so getting closer is harder. At least the island foliage wasn’t dense and in a few areas they were able to find some animals like tortoises and some monkeys.
They were also lucky, or maybe unlucky, to find rats, but Dia instantly had some of the monsters kill them all not wanting those. That said the rabbits were well received.
Finally some small wildcats were discovered and they were good enough for Dia. It was a complete family and they were placed on the first floor trembling, but since no monster was allowed to touch them they began to run around before out of nowhere a small cave rumbled into existence and the wild cats ran in.
The gnomes had fashioned a natural looking cave for the cats. The rabbits had dug their own warren and the earth wisps were working behind the cover of the rocks to ‘corrupt’ the animals to become dungeon creatures and gain quick reproduction capabilities.
With those finished the last thing that was grabbed were some birds. The weakest kind were grabbed and dragged into the dungeon from the smallest islands. Seagulls to be precise. Them and a strange woodpecker that was near the wildcats when they were passing. Some common doves were also pulled. With all these new additions, the dungeon flew to its previous height and returned home to the mana spring to be in a place with lots of mana to keep growing fast.

Labyrinthia's Maze
I had always found the idea of “Other Worlds” stupid. Magic wasn’t real. Even if it was the chance of someone spiriting away someone form a world without magic to a world with seemed utterly stupid. After all, what good would a tech geek do in a world of Dungeons and Dragons. Well, jokes on me, I guess. As I was about to log out of the NVR game I have been obsessing over for over 8 years, I blacked out. Next thing I know I am now living as my in game avatar in another world. Only I am now back to scratch, no more giant 200 floor dungeon, no more army of minions and traps, just me and a small room in the ground. Luckily, I have all I need to slowly rebuild my dungeon, I only hope I live long enough to do so. Who sent me here, what do they want from me, and can I ever return home? There better be answers to these questions because, while being my avatar is awesome, I also want to go home… I think.
8 144It Started with Slime
Before we jump in, let me say that the MC starts stupid, so the language and writing style is straightforward to reflect this. The writing improves with the MC and as the chapters progress (I hope). It is also a gradual growth story, so no zero to hero in ten seconds... with that out of the way: An alchemical experiment has gone wrong and results in a Slime Monster. It doesn't have a name at first and is something that it will need to work out! This story follows a Slime that starts as a Micro Slime with some level of consciousness, and there is more to it than meets the eye. Survival is the name of the game. To improve, it works hard to grow, evolve and become more powerful to survive its harsh new reality. There is a lot more going, and only time will tell if this Slime (all its various versions) can become strong enough to make it through the strife to the other side. It's a harsh world, after all. It Started with Slime is a story with a Monster Protagonist Evolution story. There will be no profanity and no sexual content, and there will be some violence and fighting descriptions. I am a native English speaker, and so the English here should be to a good standard. That said, even though editing, there may be some corrections and typos, so if you see some, let me know! If it bothers you a lot, I am working to make sure all chapters have no typos, but of course, some might slip through. I will endeavour to correct any picked up, though! Also, I started this a few months ago and so any feedback is always appreciated, also reviews and ratings! If you like or don't like the story, let me know in the detailed reviews! That always helps me see what is good and what needs improving. Working on releasing chapters twice a week, I will try to increase that as time goes, but at the moment, that is what I can release. Patreon has more. If the story gets more popular, then I will increase the releases. I am aiming ultimately for a chapter a day if I can get to that. Chapters are roughly 1500 words, with Interludes every five chapters being more or less than that! Enjoy! Edit: Book 1 finished on Patreon, and the format for Book 2 is slightly different with Interludes every three chapters, and the release schedule will be three chapters a week. 8 295New Escape
In a world not that unlike the present exists a fantastic technology to transfer one's consciousness into a game. A new frontier for video games has been opened, and my first experience in this world is an rpg. An escape from monotony and school has led me to experience a brand new world.(I originally lost my motivation for this story and kinda wanted to kill it, but I brought it into this world so I will fix it. I'll probably re-write the first chapters and include a more compelling story. Didn't really write the story for people to read in the first place and after I put it on here I stopped caring, but I am changed!(not too much but just a little))
